    My mother always ordered the senior citizen plate. One meat, and just a scoop of the sides for $5 - $7 versus $12.79 for normal meals.

    Restaurant portions should be smaller, however the costs should be 1/2 of what they are now because it’s WAAAY too expensive to eat out.

    I’m a cruise travel agent and I always give excellent quotes to my clients. I will help them find the right policy. I guess as a Christian I’m a little unusual because I’m looking more for benefit of the client than I am my profit. Don’t assume a travel agent won’t give you the best deal.

    15:50 - Sure they will serve you a "smaller" portion but almost ALWAYS it won't be a good VALUE because you will get 50% less food for only about 25% lower price, so the BEST idea is just get the regular size meal and either share it with someone at the table or eat half and take half home for lunch or dinner the next day. Your Welcome!

    Having worked in the restaurant industry for years on and off, I'll tell you what "special" means. It means it's something that isn't on the regular menu. Somehow people have come to believe that the word special always means discount. At a good local diner with a good cook, some of those specials will be some of the tastiest food you will ever eat. Others not so much.

    I eat out about once a week at a small local restaurant. I order something that I would not normally fix for us at home. Plus something I can get two meals out of by taking a doggy bag. Since I bought an air fryer warming up, the food is so much more tastier than microwaving it..

    I used to love going out to eat. But around 2015, I noticed the value for what I was paying was decreasing. And then I discovered that my favorite foods were just trash foods, no real nutritional value compared to what I could make at home.
    I haven't paid for a meal at a restaurant since 2019, I don't think.
    Eating at home - you eat better food at less cost.

    I love how Clark keeps minimizing the effects of inflation. He uses terms like "inflation used to be a problem, but it has cooled". The inflation rate may be lower, but the prices are, and will remain forever, at the elevated rate and keep going higher, albeit going up slower. Your grocery bill is never going lower only higher and no amount of "cooling" will change that.

      Inflation, while it was hot, also applied to wages, which overall went up about the same. Inflation last quarter was 2.4%, exactly where it should be.

    • @KufLMAO
      @KufLMAO 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s… how inflation works. Cooling inflation means the rate of increase has gone down. Who’s pretending prices went back down?? If we went to zero inflation prices still wouldn’t go down. The only thing that would bring prices back down is going after the gougers, which people seem to want but are too red scare propagandized to go remotely near anything that could be described as a price control.

    • @fakedemocracy
      @fakedemocracy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Inflation cooling means the rate at which it’s climbing is slowing. that doesn’t mean it’s coming back down. Yeah hamburgers are never going to be 5 cents again who woulda thunk it.

    • @chrisforker7487
      @chrisforker7487 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Duh! That’s the way the economy works. Just like your pay, it goes up, it doesn’t go down unless there’s a huge economic downturn. Prices have almost always gone up, it’s just a matter of how much. I bet you won’t complain as wages increase!

      I disagree. If I am paying the same money for the larger portions, and get smaller portion, I quit going out to eat. With those larger portions, for same price, I can bring home a doggie bag and have a couple more meals maybe and it’s cheaper for me than making at home.

    The food portions have definitely dropped in quality and quantity. The prices have even gone up, the opposite of the value. I'm no connoisseur of restaurants, but the Cheesecake factory is the one where I've noticed the biggest drop in value.

    Why wouldn't you just ask for a doggie bag? And if you can't control yourself, what if you divide your portions in half and bag the other half? The majority of costs for restaurants is overhead not the cost of the food ingredients. They can't really discount the prices much just because you get less food. I used to love Super-sizing as I could supersize one meal and order ala cart for my wife and child and we'd split the fries and drink between 3 people for that extra $1.
