This spring I got a 28% increase this spring on auto insurance from USAA, no warning and no explanation. I called them to see if they showed me having tickets or claims but there weren’t any. They could not explain the increase to me. Mine was a case of being a long time loyal customer getting the shaft. I changed to Erie instead., who I later learned from Clark is a preferred insurer by auto shops. I understand the industry is going through tough times but I think USAA at least could have provided their staff with talking points so they could deal with upset customers. USAA was flat footed on this and gave me the impression they couldn’t care less how I reacted to their increase.
I had Wawanesa (out of San Diego). They tried to double my auto and home. I had no tickets, accidents, or claims. I moved to AAA, and they only increased it 50%. I just I should be thankful for that? Sheesh!
If you travel by air with a large amount of cash, there is a danger you will be pulled aside for special security screening. Worse, agents at airports have been seizing people's cash without a warrant or even good cause.
My vehicles are older every year and my insurance goes up every year,I have a high deductible and it isn't that much extra for full comp compared to none.
I've moved to state minimums on some auto coverages, and ditched roadside assistance. I drive an older car less than 9k miles annually. There is no good reason that my rates jumped 25 /30 percent 😮 recently.
That scam is not an extreme case at all. That is standard practice in the industry. Never give any money to any "advisor." People just refuse to learn this lesson.
7:02 Despite fitting that driver description, unfortunately even this model is still expensive. I can’t do anything about it, having shopped around. It’s a bait and switch. For the first 3 months the bill was great. My rate has more than doubled in just one year. It’s the lowest option around but still expensive at $150/mo, up from $68/mo. I thankfully own my vehicle. I am so over gouging from every angle, however, that I’m considering not purchasing another car or putting more $ into this one for repairs in favor of autonomous vehicle transportation for everything.
Wouldn't it be great if insurance companies lowered your premium year after year based on the depreciated value of your vehicles? They aren't quite that honest, but you can actually call them annually and have your policies reviewed and re-quoted based on the actual market value of your vehicles. This can save a quite a lot of money over time.
The auto insurance discount for taking an over 55 driving course is either 5% or 10%. It depends on your insurance company. You must take the course every 3 years and it is also instructor led (at this writing 8/7/24). 🙂
Florida's first really big lotto winner (30 or so years ago) won a record (at the time) $106m lotto jackpot. She was a single scorned woman... sank her money into a home for divorced women. Within 2 years the women at the home had bilked her for every penny she had.... Tragic, but all too common and shows that so many people dont understand the relationship of wealth and money.
I have State Farm Drive Safe and Save. There is a little device that you attach to your windshield which communicates with your phone. The GPS and other sensors in your phone communicate with the app on your phone monitor mileage speed braking acceleration cornering and mileage. Also every so often I receive an email that I need to update via the app what my current odometer reading is. I guess this would allow them to verify you’re not leaving your phone home when you drive. It’s a bit of a nanny state thing but saves me currently about $190 every 6 months on auto insurance. I’m old now so I tend to drive much less and when I do I drive slower anyway so the monitoring is not that bothersome.
Ya know, Clark's diplomatic, take the high road, everything is hunky-dory approach (to most everything) makes me crazy sometimes in this Rip-Off-Everyone society. How can he not see what I'M experiencing? HOWEVER, I'll admit that his talk today on car insurance revealed that yes, indeed .. he's had boots on the ground on this subject. Thanks Clark, Krista and Team.
I don't understand why a credit score has anything to do with car insurance. America has backward thinking on certain areas of life vs other countries. Things keep going up and up i have to choose between groceries or keeping up with Hoa fines for my yard!
@@ib12541 I checked too and it was such a minimal amount, I was not really deterred. (The first time you go it costs more; every 3 years after that it is just a refresh and it costs less) I take the instructor led course, too, btw, instead of the online. It is VERY informative, enjoyable & a chance to get out and interact with others. It was worth it to me. Plus, I did actually learn something! 😊

Yes, you do all the research and manage the money. See Bogelheads for one way. Note: While Vanguard is mentioned a lot, this method of low cost investing using index mutual funds and index ETFs, works with Fidelity and other discount brokers too.
I had to get Polish Złoty and Euros and found a currency exchange in a mid size city, with a research university, 30 min drive away, that gave a good rate. I could not spend them all on way out of Europe so, went back and got a better rate back to dollars. If you just go to any old bank or the big, bad, main city bank, forget it! Search around for oddball currency exchanges in your city or nearby. I don’t know if this advice still stands but, I have to assume it does since money dates back to the Mesopotamian shekel 5000 years ago.
I moved within walking distance of my daughter and her family. I am older and started having vision problems driving at night. They offer to drive everywhere and let me borrow their second car, as I can drive in daylight. I always fill up gas tank.
Some people should not be on the road, there are PLENTY of people with several accidents and speeding tickets, suspended licenses still driving, many people cannot drive safely and causes everbody else's insurance to go up,until the courts get serious and remove these people from our roads insurance will get more expensive.
The person who reported mail for another person not at the address should try to report the error to whomever sent it...if possible, without opening it. There is a new scam involving people signing up for insurance fraudulently on the healthcare exchange using other people's info. I don't have all the details to share as I've just learned of this. Never ignore receiving mail at your address with a nonresident recipient!
Before I switched auto insurance I asked them about raising the deductible to $1000 from $500. The agent told me it would make minimal difference, she mentioned an amount. It was basically nothing! So. 🧐
The Costco crime is selling gold bars as an investment, which it never is! If you must own gold, do it via a low cost fund that holds it or mines it. But most investors steer clear of it.
Thank you for your videos... BTC price has been volatile lately, but I believe it's crucial to focus on educating newcomers on strategies beyond simply holding through market dips. One advantage of this space is the ability to buy during dips and actively trade, generating profits while awaiting inevitable price increases. Many people lack a deep understanding of how this market operates. Charts cannot predict asset movements with certainty; prices fluctuate up and down. Despite this volatility, the market remains profitable.... I have managed to grow a nest egg of around 100k to a decent 732k in the space of a few months... I'm especially grateful to Linda Wilburn, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.

It doesn’t surprise me that Principal hasn’t apologized. That would mean that they admit to messing up/being the one to blame.

How does the insurance company monitor your mileage to see how much you are driving with the mileage program??
Probably a device or an app in your car that's connected to your GPS
