Let's be real, most buyers of this car ain't going to be car nuts. That's why this family review makes more sense because Evie's input represents the majority of the consumer segment.
Nissan is going to sell a TON of these. The Nissan CVT has a terrible reputation (I think because of the old Altima), but I haven't heard anything bad about the Rogue.
I've had the UK built version, the Qashqai, for over 5 years, 1.6ltr diesel with 6 speed manual box. Performs reasonably, comfortable and nicely put together. Only problems have been electrical niggles and needed a replacement aircon condenser this year which cost lots, not good enough on a 20k miles car. Not driven the US version, nearly did at Alamo in Phoenix, but was offered a Dodge Charger instead, so no contest. Micah is correct, bit of a vanilla car.
13:00 I'd imagine the more powerful engine in the Rogue produces more power at the same engine RPM. So the bigger Rogue uses less power to get up to and maintain speed. The Sport's engine has to rev harder to do the same speed.
Nissan should have made this the Nissan Leaf. It's more attractive and ride is higher like a CUV, then couple it with AWD. This setup could have been a hit.
I think if people were informed that you cannot hammer on a CVT like a regular transmission, and if people were told to have the CVT trans fluid changed every 30 thousand miles, we would not see so many failures.
Here in South America, and specially in my country Colombia is called the Qashquai, is quite popular and family-friendly; we considered it as our new car in december but ended up choosing the Ford Escape because is waay more spacious, powerful and more comfortable.
I think its a lot of vehicles in this class where they wander on the freeway. I drove my aunt's kia seltos and at over 70 mph and the handling seemed wobbly. I drive a 2016 jeep cherokee and I don't have that problem at over 80 mph
Here in Australia they are called the Nissan Qashqai (cash kai) is how to prenounce it. Imported from the UK where they are manufactured. We have them our our car rental fleet here in Australia. I like them because the seats are fairly comfortable. This model shares it's chassis with the Renault Kadjar which is also available here in Australia. Cheers
Got my wife one she loves it and that’s all that matters If u have the cvt serviced at 25-30k like your supposed to do then u won’t have problems She had a older rogue it done good job They aren’t made to be sports cars It’s a cheap awd suv
I also enjoy activating seat heaters on unsuspecting passengers. The first time I did this was to a friend who'd just had her first child. She panicked 'cause she thought she 'wet' the seat... once I explained that seat heaters were a thing, she turned to her husband and demanded their next car have this feature. P.S. I actually forgot my car had seat heaters (shameful, I know), and 'rediscovered' them when the mechanic left them on after an oil change... so I too have experienced the joys of surprise butt warmers.
I rented one on 2 different occasions last year. I was not happy with either driving experience. One gave random gas cap loose warnings and the other had random tire air pressure warnings.
Until nissan provides at 180,000 mile warranty on the CVT, don't effing buy any of their vehicles with a CVT. Just don't. They might be super enjoyable and potentially very awesome, but that CVT can go at any moment.
@@whatever5922 Their newer cvts are much improved, we see fewer and fewer of them in the shop these days. Never going to beat an automatic in anything other than fuel economy, of course, but at least you don't have to worry about them shredding themselves at 60k miles anymore. There was a time when things like automatic transmissions and turbos were considered unreliable, nowadays the technology has been massaged, refined, and improved to the point where most folks no longer have any reservations about buying a turbocharged vehicle, never mind one with an automatic transmission.. The same is true for the CVT transmission, over time, they only improve, as with all mechanical technology.
Until people realize they cannot drive a CVT equipped vehicle we will continue to see failures. Drive like you are a senior citizen and get the CVT fluid and filters change every thirty thousand miles and you will be fine.
Lmao @cvt comments 🤣 82k miles on mine...I’ve only had Cvt serviced once @75k miles. Still drives the same as always. What y’all don’t realize is it’s the same Cvt as 2013 with second generation of D-Step (simulated gears) the 2019 + also has the same cvt as 2013 with third generation D-Step. They will last if maintained. Go look at Occckid123 300,000k + miles on his original Cvt. Also anything 2013 & 2014 had faulty programming. Any year after that I guarantee you failed about as often as any other brands transmission or cvt.
@François Granger That's a $51,000 vehicle that hasn't been redesigned since 2009... he said he wanted something worth buying for the price... not an ancient overpriced Toyota.
I had a rental Qashqai (what the Rogue is called everywhere else) in Italy, put a bunch of kilometers on it, and we liked it. It was comfortable, fun and easy to park. I’m sure the turbo-diesel and six-speed manual had a lot to do with how I liked it, not to mention the 40-plus US mpg I got while doing my best to drive like a Continental... but, alas, we don’t get diesels in the states. Love European driving!
No diesel or manual in the USA. Diesel vehicles as a whole are not sold in the USA. Diesel fuel is much more expensive, then regular petrol in the USA.

Hey a review of a car that I own! I have the trim level below this (the SV trim). This thing rear passenger space is small imo, my Sentra felt like it had more space. I also keep the steering setting in sport because normal felt way to soft for me. Also I do really like the steering wheel (they should put that in the 370Z). This is a great car for just a basic means of transportation and kind of comfortable. I love my G8 GXP but manual transmissions and stop and go traffic are annoying. Even though I don't like CVTs like you said drive something long enough you kind of forget about it. All in all, it's not bad but not exceptional. When active, ProPilot Assist works to keep the Rogue Sport in the center of its lane by controlling the steering system. ProPilot Assist is made for use on freeways and functions as a comfort feature to assist the driver.
