The way Benny linked this song to SOS with the simple piano accords at the end is just another proof of the genius he is. I can only see now how much I have missed these four talented people in the last 40+ years. I hope they never stop. ❤️
B&B backing vocals beginning at 3:02 Seven on Sunday to get him, She must have lost some wight She looks better than ever. Eight years ago, my wife died and left me a one year old son, Dani, along with other two older boys. He is 9 now. I tried my best to keep an eye on Dan. I raised him by myself. This song breaks my heart. Thank you ABBA.
For all of those who are asking, "Who is Dan?"...If you have been in a family that split up, mother and father broke up/divorced, having to shuttle between mother and father in custody battles as I had to do growing up; if you ever had to wonder "Whose house am I going to sleep at tonight?".........YOU ARE DAN!!!!!!!!!!
Who gets chills and goosebumps when it goes from solo Agnetha to that trademark blend of Agnetha and Frida singing in unison? No greater combination of voices in the history of popular music.
My parents went through divorce when I was very young , very hard time it was back then in my life, and this song reflects so much on that, makes you learn it is what it is, and get on and make something of your life , thank you abba ☺️☺️❤❤
The way the men (Bjorn and Benny) weave their chorus lines into the song is brilliant. It is more subtle now than 40 years ago, but the effect is awesome!
This song is stunning. The melody is as catchy as anything ABBA has ever written and as a divorced father myself the theme resonates personally with me.
The song seems to be coming from a Women's point of view giving her Son to his father for the weekend The fact she notes he's lost some weight. She hasn't seen his father in sometime
Instant haunting hook intro line, then incredible evocative vocals lyrics, followed by soaring chorus and duets, driving beats, impeccable studio production, along with depth and meaning. In other words: ABBA.
I was skeptical that something on this album would live up to "Don't Shut Me Down". It's insane how good this song is. I think a lot of this album is a "retrospective", going through Abba's different styles and different musical styles of the world, too. I feel like this is definitely the one that pays tribute to "The Visitors", my favorite album of theirs. The darker subject matter, taking place after the divorce, and heavy emphasis on synthesizers convinces me. The fact that it ends on the signature opening notes of SOS is not just a cool easter egg, but also thematically ties in since that was their first big single about trouble in their marriage. Spectacular.
Their song "No Doubt About It" gets me going too! And the more I hear it, the better it gets! Would love to hear an Agnetha lead version as she has some killer rock notes/voices, but it's real cool to see Frida own it also.
Great analysis. I was thinking the same thing. The link to The Visitors album and track is very strong. And the piano end tribute to SOS is just gold. It gave me goose bumps when I heard it.
I can see your point, yet, interestingly, there are not any such male backing vocals on "The Visitors" at all. You might be thinking about "Two For The Price Of One" in which the male vocals are lead and the female vocals are backing. Other than that, "Lovelight" or even "Take A Chance On Me" might come closest.
This song was the biggest surprise on the album for me. I had no idea this would be the style chosen, but I’m glad it is the way it is! Only Abba can name a song Keep An Eye On Dan and have it be a masterpiece!
A truly outstanding album. So much heart and depth. Stories about life that so many people can relate to. Mature, evolved song writing. A real treasure.

Wow. What a way to tell a story in a minimal way, with so much between the lines. Fill in the blank that Dad got custody for some reason, and it colors all of the rest of the lyrics in a completely different way. Very moving. Hurra!

You are so clever ABBA to produce the album in the way you did. Different tastes in people but everyone finds their golden grain on the album, old as young.
This track effortlessly channels Abba's signature brilliance while infusing fresh vitality into the group, embracing a musical genre that resonates with the band's essence in its purest form.
I love how the song and its use of guitar, synths, and strings is dramatic and suspenseful when she sings about her feelings, and then is contrasted when she sings to her ex about taking care of Dan--putting on a brave face when she's crumbling inside. I LOVE how Voyage seems to be for my generation of fans. We've lived and loved and lost. And we know great songs when we hear them!
In a world that often has little joy, the return of ABBA is like the sun coming out from behind the clouds. I know many have sniped about this being a rehash of old stuff masking as new material, but I think most of us fall immediately under the magic of the joyous vocals and uplifting classic ABBA sound. Familiar yet new at the same time, instantly lodged in your brain like any classic ABBA song. We were always blessed to have ABBA, and we are doubly blessed to live through their miraculous return, and to hear them sound just as great - if not better - than ever. I love these people, even if I will never know them, from the bottom of my heart. I only pray they don't disappear on us after this album...this world (actually, any world) will always, always, always need ABBA!
They are story tellers, not having to use their group name as a lyric filler (like a lot of more recent artist do). Nor do they have a hook that keeps repeating continually. They do sometimes have questionable lyrics "as smug as a cat" etc -but then I have 4 cats and tbh that line is as accurate a description as there ever will be. I didn't expect it in a ppp song - but after initial shock I have to say it works! They write in a foreign language and use English turns of phrase very successfully in context which is amazing in itself especially as English is one of the hardest languages to learn. All 4 of them are proper musicians, songwriters and lyricists. Not many of today's acts have that ability. Go ABBA! My 6 yr old who goes to her Dad's each week and has suffered separation anxiety has been helped so much by this song and absolutely adores it!
At 8 years old I heard "Waterloo" on the radio in US during the summer of 1974. I fell "Head Over Heels" in love with the music of these 4 artists and the greatest gift ever is to listen to this INCREDIBLE new music in 2021. Nothing has changed. LOVE ABBA always.

A masterpiece. I absolutely love this song. Benny and Bjorn are genius songwriters. As for Agnetha and Frida fabulous, gifted, angels singing. Combined voices pure gold. A match made in heaven. Love you Abba forever. Loved you from the euro vision preview 1974. ❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏
I just heard the complete album, and the melancholic music of this song (on this rainy day in a corner of Argentina) caught me hopelessly. The lyrics, surprisingly, took it to a higher level. It feels autobiographical (about them), but it sure touches the hearts of many couples who have left the heartbreaking imprint of their love on a child.
I was 9 years old in 1982 when the group decided to take that break, Almost 40 years on in 2021 at the age of 48, this is the longest i've waited, Well worth the wait and i'm Happy. Great album.
The remedy is simple: Get addicted to a different ABBA song! I'd recommend "Don't shut me down", it's catchy. Trust me, I've been dealing with this for 46 years.
This is a Masterpiece. I love it every day more. Love the tension, the nerve, the pauses, the drama, the faint, the breath in every note that Agnetha puts to sings with absolute divine. So touching, so moving, disruptive atmosphefe with strong melody and meaningfull lyrics and the final chords of S.O.S. to conclude it's the best fade out ever. My favorite in the album for now. I need please the lyrics of the backing track sung by the boys in the chorus, I love how they answered as the "ex-husband" role.
Here they are: I (seven on Sunday to get him) I think he must have lost some weight; (she must have lost some weight; she looks better than ever) funny how (funny, how it really takes me) it takes me back to our first date… (right back to our first date; have I lost her forever?) so, keep an eye on Dan! I really love this song, I love the tone of Agnetha’s voice here - her lower tone has more colour and is really beautiful. Great harmonies from Frida and Agnetha, and Benny and Björn. A very catchy tune, I had it on repeat in my car earlier
As a life long USA ABBA fan and listener-first heard them in 1975 when I was 13 years old-this is one of my FAVORITE songs and quintessential ABBA! For me it references, while still being totally new, “So Long,” “SOS” (obviously), “Tiger,” “The King Has Lost His Crown”…I could “On and On and On,” but my point is that this TRUE ABBA GOLD!
They still have the magic. This song is up there with some of my classic all-time favs. I love that they haven't changed their sound whatsoever. It was so emotional listening to this new album for the first time

The sonics of the first line are brilliant.
I’ve been waiting for this album for 40 years and I’m not even that old
Same here
😂😂
Me too. And man, I am so happy I made it to see this happening!
I was 9 years old in 1982 when the group decided to take that break, Almost 40 years on in 2021 at the age of 48, this is the longest i've waited, Well worth the wait and i'm Happy. Great album.
Love that. Me too and I am 😂💖🥳
From Waterloo to Ode to Freedom every song of ABBA is a masterpiece. Thank you ABBA for the music. The song we are now singing. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I can't stop listening to this song. Perfect. And those few notes from "S.O.S." at the very end...
A masterpiece.... Only ABBA can create this!
Help!!! I can't get out of this song anymore. It grows and grows in me.
Infectious and an Abba effect! 😀
The remedy is simple: Get addicted to a different ABBA song! I'd recommend "Don't shut me down", it's catchy. Trust me, I've been dealing with this for 46 years.
@@jmconradie_VARIETY_playlists Ok thanks i will try
@@ullatin1 the one and only ABBA
@@tolgamert6324 ❤️
This song has really grown on me , one of the best on the album. Nice touch with the nod towards S.O.S (my favourite ABBA song ever) at the very end.
this song is so fu"king good!
Being born in 2001, I never thought I would ever experience the joy of having ABBA release new songs, but now here I am, and I couldn't be happier! ❤
Same
Welcome to real music!

@@maureenkearns5376 thank you!
Same except I’m born 1998 myself.
Beautiful song, amazing vocals and wonderful lyrics!!! Hello from Russia! Love you, ABBA😊
3:01 Just love Björn's backing vocals!
Here it is isolated: th-cam.com/video/Qe4D-dXnr3Y/w-d-xo.html
It's Benny too
Incredible. Abba is a gift to humanity. Pure and light.
This song is really good. But the part when all the four members are singing is amazing. They sound great together.
Only Agnetha can cry with her singing, that goes straight to my heart. 💛🧡❤💜
I love the way she says “mummy.”
@@christine3043 she reminisced 'SOS' piano tune with that.
and always has
Here we go again! Another Abba triumph! Toppen!
This is just phenomenal
this song is absolutely my favorite on the VOYAGE album. It‘s great ABBA feeling. Thank you for the music.
As usual this song is ABBA PERFECTION!!!!!!
ABBA crushed it.
Amazing song and brilliant reference to SOS.
I need please the lyrics of the backing track sung by the boys in the chorus, I love how they answered as the "ex-husband" role.
maybe they repeat pieces of the lyrics that the girls song ,a bit like the backvocals on the end of the winner takes it all.
Yes,I'm desperate to have those backing lyrics.......
Here they are:
I (seven on Sunday to get him)
I think he must have lost some weight; (she must have lost some weight; she looks better than ever)
funny how (funny, how it really takes me)
it takes me back to our first date… (right back to our first date; have I lost her forever?)
so, keep an eye on Dan! (I’ll keep an eye on my Dan)
(I’m a loving man, you know)
(that I’ll never upset him)
(I’ll keep an eye on my Dan)
(and I won’t forget you’ll be)
(here on Sunday to get him)
Keep an eye on Dan! (I’ll keep an eye on my Dan)
You’re a loving man; (I’m a loving man, you know)
make an effort not to upset him. (that I’ll never upset him)
Just keep an eye on Dan, (keep an eye on Dan) (I’ll keep an eye on my Dan)
and don’t forget (and I won’t forget you’ll be)
I’ll be back on Sunday to get him (here on Sunday to get him)
so, keep an eye on Dan…

It was so emotional listening to this new album for the first time
Still my favorite song from voyage almost 3 years now
same here :3
This one along with Don’t Shut Me Down and No Doubt About It. Top 3 for sure.
It's w years 2022
Ich liebe alle ABBA lieder für immer !!!
Lang lebe ABBA Schöne Pop Musik !!!
Für immer ein Weltklasse Pop Gruppe ABBA ist . 💎👌
Masive Greatness and extraordinary talent of this swedish pop group is forever in the world pop music .
ABBA will be remembered forever .
Unbelievable why they dont play this song on the radio. It blows EVERYONES head off.
Magnificent song. Should be nr1 worldwide.
if they get to a 5th single, i think this might be it
(after When You Danced With Me, an obvious radio release)
Because radio is not like the old days when they were generous about playing to everyone’s tastes.
@@jasonbourne488 if you play to everyone tastes.. It just ends up end up sounding crap. What radio station ever played to everyones tastes anyway?? None.l
Your yesteryear exists in your head only
@@aperinich The radio stations I listened to as a boy did. I do miss the good old days when we were more tolerant and inclusive.
Это не выгодно мировому правительству,как-бы это странно не звучало .. На радиостанциях ставят низкопробную,плохую музыку... Для того,Что-бы люди турели!..
