I think this is a message to the world that freedom is under threat and has been for some time from those who promise happiness and safety if we only give up everything and allow them total power over us. Currently the worlds wealthiest and most powerful and corrupt elite are openly discussing the best way to impoverish and take what is left of freedom from the people in the name of saving the planet. Most popular music was soulless from the 60’s, including that of the Beatles. I was a radio DJ then and really had to tolerate a lot of it. I actually just about disliked it all and was dismayed at the standards to which music hand sunk even from the previous generation. Then ABBA came along and made everything brighter and happier and much more melodic. How amazing that was. After they disbanded, looking for better music, I turned to opera and really fell more in love with classical music than I had been. A few decent pop singers have come along, but only two have stood out for me -IL Volo and the extraordinary Dimash Qudaibergen - mainly for their voices and the KIND of music they present. And now again, ABBA has lit a beautiful lamp in the bleak music landscape - with their sensitivity to music that is eternal. And in that they once again, are lighting up the world! Even one of the songs on the new album which I dislike - and the only ABBA song I have ever disliked, is far, far better that just about anything out there today. Thank you ABBA. So very, very much. 💖
My mother passed away last month, she is an avid fan of Abba and she's excited when she heard that they will release another album. It's so sad that she didn't get the chance to hear this masterpiece. I miss her everyday. Whenever I feel sad, I will just play an Abba song because she sounds like Anni-Frid. I love you, mama.
She manifested this for us. Thank you mama 💕 god bless. Only those who have a connection to spirit can write this song. It’s the fear of the unknown. It’s the song of spirits who have passed. This song has been channeled for sure. It’s the frequency of the universe. It’s pure love. It’s a sign to you that she made it to heaven. They all did 💕
No Good bye yet....I think they may make a track or two _ as voyage takes to it's own journey, over the years the odd new track , who knows ?. Xx. But ABBA always know what there doing. Xx "voyage "one of the best collection of tracks_ of all time , = and my expectations, = unreachable ! Xx. ABBA ABBA ABBA. 💕💕
They made 2 tracks more but they can't put it on the album about time objectif. I m sure they can put them in an other LP with extra songs or put them in an other album.
I'm reading reviews for the album today, and I don't care what the "critics" write. The only thing that matters is that our dreams came true with this album. If anyone had told us, a few years ago we would not have believed it was possible. But it is, it really happened. I cried some songs because they touched me deeply. I remembered all the friends who are no longer with us, and who have not experienced this happiness. I am just one of several million fans who are thrilled with the new album. My favorite songs are “I Can Be That Woman” followed by “Ode To Freedom”. I will just say, my deep bow, ABBA remained queens and kings, thank them for the music. ABBA in the ❤ forever Manuela, loyal fan for over 40 years
Same here, Manuela...loved ICBTW and OTF the very first time hearing them! But I'm also loving all the other songs. Voyage is a fantastic album, a great gift from ABBA to all their fans around the world!!!
A critic is just the personal opinion of one person, it's bizarre that they even exist anymore. It's the big audience who ultimately decides what becomes a success.
It's just thrilling. Like the End of the Line. Everything comes to its End...slowly vanishes and finally dies. That's Life and that's what it is about. The ABBA's message: We all die, but love in our soul remains. And it was worth living for.
Walter Hellmuth...Yes, combine Ode To Freedom with ABBA's Eagle on one video, like on an hour loop video, and we have the most significant and the most meaningful video anyone has ever produced. Play ABBA's Eagle and Ode To Freedom back to back, and you'll see what I mean.
We are just in the beginning of the end because we will embrace and enjoy this song and the whole album for a long time.. and the music will live forever! Thank you ABBA! ♥️
I feel so sad with Voyage, it feels like I've reached the end of my life's journey with ABBA's music. When all good things must come to an end... :( I want ABBA to NEVER END! There will never be another group like these amazing souls. God bless Anni-Frid, Agneth, Benny and Bjorn. Thank you for the music!
their music lives on forever and all the good times that we had enjoying their sound. #abba4ever they are eternal but i do know what you mean. Im so glad to have lived through their success and comeback. Happy 2023!!!!
Yes, in 1982 when ABBA announced they were unofficially through, I was devistated. With VOYAGE, I felt such a euphoria, I couldn't describe it. But then in interviews when Benny and Bjorn said VOYAGE was the last and that this was the end, I was heartbroken that 'the door' was closing for good.
@@LOTGiscool All good things come to an end I dont blame them at all for calling it a day better end on a high like Voyage and their London concerts. I will keep the image of them from the 70s and 80s in my mind and when I used to have my bedroom wall plastered with their posters. The excitement of watching Abba The Movie as a kid and dancing to all their hits in our school youth club... those where the days :) Abba Forever
@@hunkhk I was listening to the radio and even had a small record player in my bedroom. I remember Waterloo and SOS would come on and I marveled at what a different sound 'that group' had. In 1977, off I went to college. I eventually bought ABBA Arrival on cassette tape. Then ABBA The Album came out. I didn't buy much ABBA stuff, but I do have two ABBA belt buckles. And I won an autographed ABBA The Singles The First Ten Years from a London radio station when I was in Huntingdon, UK in November 1982. It's all still in my possession here in southern Alberta.
The absolute beauty and emotion four people can bring to this world of many woes gives me such consolation that God, the author or truth and beauty, has written such good in our hearts.
The lyrics to this magnificent masterpiece are so profound and humble, performed appropriately in exquisite soft harmonies. It deserves to be a new universal anthem, sung by choirs and schoolchildren around the world, and in many languages. Full of grace, it's quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and I don't think that's an exaggeration.
it thankfully is. Gone are the nightmare days of the 80s where we only had to listen to the trash mainstream radio stations fed down our throats. Back in the days someone like BBC used to CENSOR even popular artists and refused to play their songs on Radio 1 for example. Worse than North Korea. Now they can shove their radio and we hear and enjoy WHAT we want when we want... and support those artists anyway. Radio stations and corporations don't own us anymore with their hidden agendas. Thank you for the music....
@@docknightphilco4550 exactly, i cant even with all this new shitty music, like even as a teenager i can appreciate real, good music. thank god ABBA was here to save the 21st century from all the new music, if you can even call it that.
This song is out of this world. I am a 49 year old man but I can't stop crying when I hear him. I've never heard such a beautiful song. If God had created a song himself for mankind, it would be this song. If our planet could create a song by itself, it would be this song. If there is a song from the depths of the universe, it is this song. ABBA gives me back my belief in what is good in people. We have never needed ABBA as much as we do today. I learned that from this song. This album is a masterpiece that is unique in history.
This song is ABBA's final swan song. It is deeply moving and very complex in it's lyrical content. It's almost like a musical obituary very sad yet hauntingly beautiful.
It makes me really sad. They could keep going, it's all still there, the writing, the music, the voices, but I guess they no longer want to. I respect that, but the feeling is strong. At least we have this new album which was improbable to begin with.
@@themountainwanderer I agree, it would be lovely to have a follow up album but it isn't guaranteed . Agnetha may record one further album but this is not confirmed officially at this time.
Part of the Beatles, Queen and ABBA story coming out…focus is John Deacon, John Lennon and Agnetha. These three were more than musicians. All ABBA songs are about John Deacon…Deacon the dancing Queen. Who is John Deacon really? He is coming out of seclusion soon. Story from 1968 to 1980 has been locked in a vault till 40 years later.
Thank you Merrin, well said and the absolute truth! Benny and Bjorn are the Bach and Beethoven of 21st century.. Those 2 Beautiful Norse Beauties have the voices that the Angels listen to.. This is Timeless Music the World Loves!❤👍🇺🇸
"Voyage" - the last album forever in this world. Respect. Wonderful music from wonderful 4 people. The people of this world bow in front of you. Thank you 🤗
I'm sure It's the ''last song ever". It feels that this closer to their Voyage album is the most impactful choice to wave to us the last goodbye.Anthemic.Glorious....yet devastating.
I am 57 and I dont care what music critics say today. They were telling the same -that this is an old-style music - when The Beatles appeared. I am so happy that you are back, ABBA ! What an emotions - truth, love - and freedom. Will be waiting for ABBA Voyage 2022 in London
The Guardian is a news source, only. Rolling Stone review of Voyage was good...Worth the wait!!!...right on target..Even Pitchfork review was a fairly good review!
I read the Guardian review that conveniently skipped over No Doubt About It and totally missed the point that not every album recording ABBA made was Dancing Queen or Mamma Mia but songs like Ode To Freedom or The Visitors which have no disco beat or get up and dance. I bet they only listened to ABBA Gold. For true ABBA fans this album is what we have waited so long for and it does not disappoint. It has everything we want. Beautiful harmonies brilliant composition and meaningful lyrics I am sure it will also go down in history as a great album just like the ones before it. The recent charts say it all. Apapa
What a closing song for ABBA! I assume this is ABBA's last. In Nov 1981, The Visitors looked to be their last album. The closing song on The Visitors was also a perfect close out to their 8th album, 'Like An Angel Passing Through My Room'
Its what the world has been waiting for, for Abba fans young and old alike and i cant wait to listen to the whole album later on and my freedom as come to me in my new work place !
I’ve now gotten the chance to listen to Agnetha & Anne-Frid on their own singles songs and they have beautiful voices. And I discovered when these two girls come together in the same room. Something magical happens. For the lack of better words. It’s as if, a whole new set of algorithms are brought into play. They automatically balance their voices. And lift each other up and fade into the background at the right time. This is a rare thing in music. I’m not talking harmonies as a group. This is a matchup of tones and power to drive each other at just the right time. And let’s not forget the boys. Their abilities to inject their sounds without overwhelming the girls takes skill as well. Going back in time to their vary first contest they won. It showed the voters a sound back then what they really liked. Benny & Bjorn discovered this early on. That Agnetha & Anne-Frid had a magnetic draw within the sound of their voices working together as a team. Even with the span of 40 years in time that thing we call magic stills holds. Well the rest is history we have ABBA!
ABBA, your circle is complete. You started as you finished and your beauty and grace was constant throughout you catalogue of art. You always did and always will bring joy. Thank you for the music, this was the perfect end to an epic, galactic voyage. Enjoy your own personal freedoms. ABBA forever!
I refused to listen to this song because my brother told me he was in tears when he listened to it and I wanted to wait till Christmas to reserve me an additional gift of these talented artists. Well, by chance I heard it right now and... I cannot express what I am feeling inside my soul and heart: this is poetry, is a classical ode at a Beethoven and Verdi level. This is not pop anymore is ART in its quintessential way. Pure beauty and emotion. Benny is a genius, the words of Björn are simply perfect and the voices of the 2 ladies... well, simply divine. UNESCO or ONU should declare this ode to World Heritage Site. THIS is not a simple song it is a classical Ode as gift for all of us... to humanity worldwide for a better world... for authentic and true freedom.
You are right. It is a song of great value. will be listened to at Christmas all over the world as Happy New Year is listened to at the beginning of each year. ABBA is a phenomenon and their music is invaluable to people from all over the world. Thanks for the ABBA music! I love you!
For me...this song is the higest level that can be achieved in the art and creativity of Pop Music artistic expression. As you say...it is more than just music alone...it is PURE MUSIC ART. With this song... ABBA have tapped straight into the inner mind set of natural humanity, that the WHOLE WIDE WORLD WILL RECOGNISE WHEN THEY HEAR THIS SONG.
I hope everyone understood the message from ABBA. There is less freedom in the world in which we live someone's dark side. And these Swedish guys from Abba feel it. And this last song (I don't want to talk about it like that) is an ode to freedom. .and behind it will be "an ode to joy". And you can hear it after Benny's chords
I've said elsewhere, ABBA are so much more than just a music group. This composition demonstrates this. A World campaign for freedom, kindness and peace.
It would be great if the Vienna philarmonic would play this tune at the new year`s concert on 1 january 2022. Abba are such a timeless beauty. The voices and harmonies are from another world. 40 years, where did you go? I remember staying home from school one day pretending I did not feel ok, to listen to The Album all over again and again. Their new songs are still revelations to me and what consoles me when thinking of them in connection with time is the fact that the experience is shared by so many people all over the world who are enthralled by the underlying truth in their often melancholic tunes... Life had them when they were "young and sweet, only seventeen" but they were also still there when all was said and done, and the winner took it all ... They never lied to me. Fair enough, that`s the way it all goes, thank your for the music, guys! You have given me so much! And how often have I turned to your music when everything else did not make much sense. You are leaving such a legacy to this world with all its imperfection and beauty ...
I think Ode to Freedom is majestic. It starts with a motif from Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky (in a different time signature) and it swells and falls like a ship riding ocean waves. The lyrics are philosophical and Björn is so humble in the second verse. He acknowledges that living a privileged life, people could justifiably criticise him if he attempted to articulate an ode to freedom. But he self-deprecatingly hopes someone else will do so, so we could all sing along. It is a mini masterpiece with all four friends singing together.
You just did write “an ode to freedom, we all could sing” ABBA. Truly the best ever on this planet. My jaw is on the floor for the beauty of this work!!!
Abba's swan song and finale. What a beautiful ending to many decades of joy and happiness they have given to millions across the world. This symphony arrangement and amazing melodies melts my heart. The joy of having them back is tinged with knowing this will be their finale album but their music will forever live on. We are humbled to have been touched by your music in so many ways. Thank you Abba, words cannot express how much you mean to so many people. 😘❤
ever time i hear it I feel more and more emotional - nothing and noone will ever come close to the brilliance of this IMHO. Its really humbling to listen and reflect on such an amazing career. #AbbaForever
I think you're right! It does seem like a farewell. Don't know whether to cry for joy or sadness. Maybe both. Thanks for everything ABBA. You'll never be forgotten ❤️
Sorry ABBA this can't be goodbye. The Voyage album changed and reunited humanity with this gift. All didn't understand all need to live life through your message.
there is no idea in the world more important than the idea of freedom. Without it, nothing else matters. From the day each of us is born, God gave to each of us: "freedom of choice as to how we want to live our lives". "Freedom" is a God given right: not given by the political puppet masters. They are not God.
If we do not have freedom we have nothing. Without freedom we have are doomed to endure the evil works of Satan's workers here on earth. God please come to save us from these "DEVIL DOGS"!

After this song i realise how today's music is soulless, ABBA's music is eternal.
A true sentence...
Abba and Il Volo - my favourite artists ♥️

What an absolutely gorgeous song. Just incredible
I am a 74 year old man and I still think abba are the best group ever long live abba ❤
She's listening with you
Get your whole family and her closest friends together and play this album over and over in the background and you'll feel her presence.
💕🙏
It will be with her in heaven i`m sure.
They all did 💕
Ode To Freedom It’s a majestic perfection.
Thanks Mom for bring ABBA to my life when I was a kid.l wish you were here.
Your mother is always with you, in your heart when you listen this music.

An anthem for this damaged world 😢
True words with sooo much meaning today!!!!

If there is music in heaven, I’m sure it would be “ ODE To Freedom” and “Bumblebee”! Both are what I think of when I think of heaven!

This is the best comeback and goodbye a band ever made. The voyage ends here, but their music will last forever
they thinking about to do another album
No Good bye yet....I think they may make a track or two _ as voyage takes to it's own journey, over the years the odd new track , who knows ?. Xx. But ABBA always know what there doing. Xx "voyage "one of the best collection of tracks_ of all time , = and my expectations, = unreachable ! Xx. ABBA ABBA ABBA. 💕💕
They made 2 tracks more but they can't put it on the album about time objectif. I m sure they can put them in an other LP with extra songs or put them in an other album.

“I would like to think that Freedom is more than just a word. In grand and lofty language Odes to Freedom often go unheard”…
ABBA in the ❤ forever
Manuela, loyal fan for over 40 years
Same here, Manuela...loved ICBTW and OTF the very first time hearing them! But I'm also loving all the other songs. Voyage is a fantastic album, a great gift from ABBA to all their fans around the world!!!
Agree 100%
A critic is just the personal opinion of one person, it's bizarre that they even exist anymore. It's the big audience who ultimately decides what becomes a success.
This is one of ABBA's best songs. Critics are wrong if they don't think so. 😀

Ladies and gentlemen, here you have the most significant song ABBA has created in their history. Just listen, and be astounded!
Its Epic!! ❤️🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪
It's just thrilling. Like the End of the Line. Everything comes to its End...slowly vanishes and finally dies. That's Life and that's what it is about. The ABBA's message: We all die, but love in our soul remains. And it was worth living for.
gets better every time i hear it and ive played it about 100 times already .... sublime
Don t listen to Helmut ,listen to your heart!
Beautiful, It's the closing of a circle that began 50 years ago.
Don't want it to e nd yet
Beautiful finale
We are just in the beginning of the end because we will embrace and enjoy this song and the whole album for a long time.. and the music will live forever! Thank you ABBA! ♥️
The way old friends do! 😍
I really don't want this song to be a closure hahahah
If a song ever displayed ABBA's gift for harmony this was it.
We need this right now , ABBA reunite this fractured world 😪🙏
I feel so sad with Voyage, it feels like I've reached the end of my life's journey with ABBA's music.
“It’s elusive and it’s hard to hold, it’s a fleeting thing” so true especially now.

LISTENING TO AN ABBA SONG MINUTES AFTER RELEASE IS SO UNREAL
Cierto lo que dices, porque hace 40 años , acá en Latinoamérica esperábamos 1 año, Saludos
say thanks to youtube 😄
it thankfully is.

Your words are really touching.

This is by far the best I have read that describe my own feelings when I listen to this masterpiece.
A modern day peace anthem for mother earth . Xx.
This song reminds us ALL that this popular group are TRUE MASTERS of their musicianship craft.

Doesn't it sound like something from the 19th century? Sounds familiar?
@@thomashernandez8700The very beginning sounds like Swan Lake to me very beautiful.
haha now Abba are turning to classical :D
Yes, I agree. Totally magnificent.
I can't help put picture figure skaters when I hear this! Possibly the best song on the album. DEFINITELY one of the top three.
Hands down.....the Masterpiece of the Century!, And yes I believe it is a farewell from the greatest pop group of all time bar none!

I agree, ABBA made this beautiful music for the fans and the fans truly love and appreciate this - it does not matter about anyone else's opinion

Here in New Zealand we are celebrating 12 days to go until Abba The Voyage Concert! in London
A divine song. I am 20 years old and so touched. A truly masterpiece. I wish that someday the whole world will sing this Ode to freedom.
So awesome! :)

ABBA, the world is facing a gigantic change. Your song is epic. Thank you...

I've said elsewhere, ABBA are so much more than just a music group. This composition demonstrates this. A World campaign for freedom, kindness and peace.
Ode, hymn, anthem... Masterpiece.
A transcendent piece of music, to last forever in the galaxy.
you are spot on. nothing more to do or say.
Beautifully articulated.
@@bijitbora Thank you :)
Wunderbar!👍👍💖
I think Ode to Freedom is majestic. It starts with a motif from Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky (in a different time signature) and it swells and falls like a ship riding ocean waves. The lyrics are philosophical and Björn is so humble in the second verse. He acknowledges that living a privileged life, people could justifiably criticise him if he attempted to articulate an ode to freedom. But he self-deprecatingly hopes someone else will do so, so we could all sing along. It is a mini masterpiece with all four friends singing together.
