Actually they re-debut. There was a group before this, but let's not talk about it right now. Let's focus on their music cause it's gonna be a long but awesome ride. DC’s leans more on the vocals while RQ’s is focused on the instrumental, mainly due to the differences in style of group (kpop vs krock).

This is the part one of the storyline
Fly High
Butterflies begin the storyline, seen round Jiu, showing her life, her vitality, and most importantly the lack of a curse, the lack of evil. We begin the story at a mansion, where the girls go, perhaps on a holiday. Jiu sees a spider outside the mansion, and traps it in a Jar and brings it in, which brings the curse into the lives of the girls. Gahyeon is seen first to be taken by the curse, in a horrific event while she sleeps, surrounded by vines and foliage. We see a short clip of a version of Jiu playing the piano (this will become more important later).
Then we see siyeon, in her real self (holding the teddy bear) being taken away by Sua, who can be seen as the facilitator of the curse in the storyline. When they come back out of the woods, Siyeon is still her real self holding the teddy bear, but like a “Hansel and Gretel” story, she is lovingly coaxed by Sua into something dark and mysterious that she doesn’t know yet- the curse of the spider.
The shot at the dinner table is very important. It shows the Good side and the Bad side, indicated by the salt shakers and the books. Dami, Siyeon and Jiu are still not cursed or thrown into the nightmare. However, Gahyeon, Handong and Yoohyeon have been (more on how yoohyeon gets cursed later). Sua sits in the middle, as she is the one who is watching and even causing the girls to be cursed, one at a time. The curse of Handong is seen in the shot where the witch moves across the rooms in the mansion and immediately after handong throws a black paper aeroplane out of the same room where the witch was seen, perhaps a sort of last second SOS, leading to the scene she has later, lifeless in the bathtub.
Dami is seen reading books, perhaps she is informing herself on the things that happen in the curse, so that she can protect herself. This can be somewhat confirmed by the fact that in Goodnight, in the nightmare, Dami is still sleeping. She has found a way to protect herself initially, however this is broken when Dami, out of her own will, breaks out of the glass box she has created around herself (in her rap in You andI) to help the other girls.
Possibly the most important is the curse of yoohyeon, who burns the spider, and it is held on the account of jiu making the mistake of bringing the spider in. There is a flashback in the MV to the moment where Yoohyeon pulls Jiu away from the spider, which I think is very significant as it shows how Yoohyeon perhaps has a hint that it is dangerous but doesn’t want anything bad to happen to Jiu. Shortly afterwards, and still in a flashback, Yoohyeon herself lets her curiosity take over her, burning the spider with a lens, which starts the cascade of curses in the mansion, beginning at gahyeon. Yoohyeon is then seen in front of a mirror, a way for her to try to look for herself, which is often seen in the whole trilogy as a way for communication to happen across nightmares, but black tar consumes the mirror, which shows she has been disconnected by the curse, and also trapped in the nightmare.
Remember when we mentioned that Jiu was playing the piano? I think this is the nightmare version of Jiu. As Jiu is exploring the mansion, she finds the other version of herself, and realises what she has done in bringing the curse of the spider into the mansion. So she immediately tries to shut the gate and prevent any more of the evil from coming in. But the butterflies that were flying around Jiu have died. Sua has already mislead Siyeon while Yoohyeon Gahyeon and Handong are already trapped. Yoohyeon, bearing the start of the curse of the spider, is already free and outside the gate that Jiu tried to contain her in. The final scene of Sua stabbing the iconic “nightmare photograph” of the girls further confirms to me that Sua is some sort of “storyline facilitator” or “narrator”, and that she has played the key role in causing the girls to be cursed.
Chase me
The next part of this storyline is when the nightmare hunter is sent to find out what happened to the girls in the mansion. This is confirmed by what yoohyeon said in a vlive. In the image where the nightmare hunter is seen circling Gahyeon on the nightmare picture, the pencil breaks. The nightmare hunter is trying to find the cause, perhaps trying to find out about Sua’s involvement, but isn’t any closer by circling Gahyeon, signified by the breaking of the pencil. In a short still, we see Sua holding Siyeon’s hand, which links back directly to their scene in Fly High. This shows that Sua has indeed captured siyeon.
In an important scene, Dami is seen to be lying down in the middle of all the girls, sua notably in the middle of the ring they form around Dami. This relates to how Dami defended herself by reading about the curse in Fly High. Perhaps this scene is them (especially Sua) calling to Dami to be with them, to partake in being nightmarish with them. And it succeeds to some extent, as Dami joins the circle, and raps the lines “seven little presents every day”, however she is still further apart from this curse than the rest.
Each of the girls act as their own nightmare to the Nightmare Hunter. They toy with him, and torment him. Sua is seen with a pendulum. Handong is a ghastly figure on a table underneath a moving light. Jiu is seen as a ghost thrown across a pillow in the corridor. Siyeon torments his door and locks him in. Gahyeon throws books across the floor. Yoohyeon is seen tormenting the corridor and adding to the mystery of room 808. However, the Nightmare hunter has evidence. And he analyses it, and as is his profession, he finds out the origin, that being room 808. And he knows he needs to get in to trap them, because he realises in here is how they do their work. This is the photo room of the chase me mansion. This is the room where the girls are seen in the final part of the moving having fun with “pillows”, having fun with sleep, having fun creating nightmares. And the hunter has found the source- the nightmare photograph that Sua herself left a mark on in Fly High.
Good Night
Here we get introduced to the “nightmare book”, the book where the timeline and evidence is held for how the girls were cursed. The nightmare hunter finds it, and with a lot of other evidence, he begins to trap the girls in the nightmare together, so that he can finish what he came there to do- stop the girls from invading people’s dreams. The first that he is seen to trap is Gahyeon, as soon as he opens the book she is seen falling. Later we see him rapping Sua in the vines, and Yoohyeon and Siyeon in the forest.
Jiu however sees that he has trapped Gahyeon and is a powerful force to be reckoned with, so she prepares with Handong and Dami to not be trapped themselves and to free the others who he has trapped. Dami is seen with Handong in a library, collecting perhaps knowledge on how to do this. With this knowledge that the three of them have then, they begin once again to torment and mock the hunter, perhaps implyling messages like “ha! You think you’ve won” and “we’re still out here- you’re not done yet!”.
And so the three of them take the book, through the mirror (which is now becoming a strong symbol for the communication between nightmares and real life). They burn the pages of the book, starting at Sua’s entrapment, setting fire to the vines that have entrapped her and setting her free that way. The wallpaper of room 808 is seen to burn, showing that the Nightmare hunter’s work is being reversed, the room he’s in has papers flying around him, and so, finally, he is seen, trapped in the mirror. Trapped where he aimed to trap all the 7 girls. But through teamwork in the nightmare, they saved each other.
The final scene shows the girls leaving the nightmare hotel, leaving the nightmare hunter trapped with no hope of escaping, every time he falls asleep he will be tormented by nightmares, whatever he does. This is the last we’ll hear of him.
The girls move through the forest that they were chased through, looking for the next place for them to stay and torment people, which will be at the You and I mansion, and on the way they drop the book. This book has in it perhaps more than was shown in Goodnight, and by dropping this book, the girls lose part of what they can use to combat their own nightmare world, and they lose perhaps the missing link to what is needed to save Yoohyeon in You and I
DREAMCATCHER is known for their rock / even metal influences. They are the main girlgroup in Korea with this style.

Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
Chase me is the first part of the Nightmare series. You should definitely react to the next one in the series as well, which is Good Night. It slaps!

It’s too bad you’re discovering these girls after they just finished up their world tour. If you like their music as much as I do, I hope you get to see them live on their next tour.

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are one of the very few groups that consistently incorporate rock /metal with pop, synth-pop, edm. They are a group with horror and dystopian themes in their music. They debuted in 2017 and consist of 7 members, which are all massively talented:

These all are their Korean tracks. If you liked these, then you're definitely going to love their Japanese tracks as they are much more heavier. Their B sides are a different beast altogether where they have experimented with several genres, and they don't disappoint one bit.
An amazing debut from my favorite Kpop group! This song came out five years ago and it was a HUGE gamble. This kind of rock sound was not at all popular in South Korea at the time, ESPECIALLY in Kpop. Their debut album only sold around 3,000 copies. But they stuck to to their guns and kept producing high quality music. It helps that they've had the same two producers throughout their career so they grew with the group and because of that Dreamcatcher really has a sound all their own. Now, their latest album has over 140,000 sales and they just continue to work hard and grow.
I'm so thankful that you took the time to check them out and I hope you will continue to do so. The next song is Goodnight and it's one of my favorites of their early songs.

As a recently-made InSomnia (fandom name for Dreamcatcher) myself, Welcome to the world of Dreamcatcher! Sad thing about them is that their metal rock and horror genre style kinda makes them the black sheep of the K-Pop world. They are not as big as they really should be, at least in South Korea IIRC. They are very popular internationally. However Recently, they've been rising more and more. You'd be surprised to see that they've been around a while.

Dreamcatcher just wrapped up a US tour. It was outstanding. They are performing at the Anime Matsuri festival in Houston this weekend

@@JohnReavesLive the closest venue was louisville ky. a close friend who's a drummer went to that show and said it was one of the best concerts he's been to. once you hear more of their music, they have an x factor that can draw all sorts of people, race, color, sex, age, what have you. there's kids in their early teens to 50-60 year old metalheads at their concerts. in contrast if you go to other kpop concerts particularly a boy group, it's 90% teenage girls.

Metal fan react to kpop are uncompleted without reacting to Dreamcatcher, "The face of rock in kpop", in which their sound are combination/fusion of kpop/rock/metal/edm sound, and its the one and only sound have in kpop 🤟

Yesss, Dreamcatcher! These girls are amazing and I love their dark rock heavy kpop. They are getting more recognition now than they used to but they should be top tier level famous given how talented they all are and how unique their sound is in kpop. I think they resonate more internationally than they do back home which is why they aren't more famous yet.

welcome to the dreamworld! dreamcatcher's music is best described as genre blending, usually with rock instrumentation. since they rarely use the same genre/sub-genre twice, almost all of their songs are different. their discography ranges from soft ballads to essentially metal but not in the typical ways you are use to.
chase me is the first of their nightmare series. the follow up is 'good night' and because it's a direct followup, is probably the most similar sounding duo in their discography. while their videos do have an intricate plot, it's really just for added entertainment and not important. they often use pop-culture references to help convey their themes so that's one way to get on track when trying to interpret their lyrics which are usually very abstract. in short, chase me is about marking your own path and not bending to other's views of what is good/bad/right/wrong. by being a trend setter, you can get people to 'chase you'. much of their music reflects on their own group history which is another long story in itself since they are the black sheep in the 'kpop' industry.

Dreamcatcher's title track always incorporate rock/metal sound which is a unique and bold move, and the MVs have dark/spooky vibe. They are the first kpop group that combines those elements. Their B-sides is a whole universe, though. You'll get rock, ballad, EDM, pop, 80's pop, reggae, punk, jazz, and many more. Also, most of their title track has an instrumental version so perhaps you can check them out off-cam. Ah, and the epic intros as well.
Chase Me is their (re)debut song and also the start of a storyline. I would suggest to re-watch Chase Me just before you watch the next song, Good Night.
DC has 7 members, and they are all artists. They can sing live no matter ballad or rock songs, they are great dancers (and one of them also a choreographer), all of them has song writing credit (and each of them has a solo song in the latest album), and their stage performances are awesome. They are the first kpop group invited to Primavera Sound in Spain last June, and they owned the stage.

Yeah. Dreamcatcher is more like K-Rock than K-pop. And all of their songs could be Anime openings. They do have storylines in their songs that you can watch in order. They also have deeper meanings in the lyrics of some of their songs that you will appreciate. Some of my favorite Dreamcatcher songs are Scream, Deja Vu, and Maison.

My absolute NO.1 song is DEJA VU. It is not part of any nightmare or trilogy song.
They collaborated with a game company in this mini album. From my perspection the theme the music video of DEJA VU is "Betray in reality in order to prevent to be the one who betrayed in a dream." Try to find the scenes when the bleu objets present and their meaning.
Sequel to this song is called "Goodnight"

Dreamcatcher's Japanese discography is more metal but I love their Gothic Rock style Deja Vu the most.
Also if you haven't been exposed to the wonder that is Mamamoo, I'd suggest looking into that group

Because you are a fan of metal I KNOW you will enjoy Dreamcatcher a lot. They have this metal sound, fused with EDM, pop of course and sometimes I believe I see classical music influences. It is so refreshing, so unique in kpop. It reminds me of anime music too aha! And I love their melodies, reminds me of how classical music goes so well with metal, as well as pop. I think people don't realize this many times, but pop and metal are not so distant from each other as people think.
