"Sine Wavs" (Insane Demon) by Dorami | Geometry Dash

I am not at all a fan of when creators decide to do a noticeable update to a level years after its initial release, even if it makes the level better to play. It's fine if you want to tweak small things here and there, but to essentially make it a different level like this one did rubs me the wrong way. Preserving history is very important for future players that want to learn about the bumpy path that the creating scene has taken as it has evolved over the years. Overhauling such old levels also takes away the achievement from players that beat the original version, because they beat a level that essentially doesn't exist anymore. I don't think all updates are bad, it's definitely a case by case thing, but I don't like this case.
With that being said, I've wanted to beat as many classic NC levels as I can so I decided to get this one out of the way. The update seemingly nerfed the predrop and buffed everything else, adding in extra portals and changing click patterns completely. Despite that, I found this to be fair and enjoyable. This level makes use of sliding through structures like most old NCs do, but here it feels smooth and natural, allowing for pleasing shapes to cleanly take up space. Learning how to interact with each portal was fun and each one allows you to slide into the next in a very satisfying way.
I honestly don't have much else to say about this. It doesn't really do anything different from others in its genre back then, apart from the weird color choice. I think it looks nice in the predrop; lime green's spiciness when paired with the high pitched sounds of the song make for a nice pairing, but making this color darker during the wave just looks kind of sludgy and uncomfortable. I'm not really sure how to feel about this level considering all of its odd flaws, but I would recommend it if you're looking for a fair NC insane demon.
