- If you're a fan of the Gears of War series, you should take a look at my new video: I'm showing all the boss fights since the first Gears of War game in 2006, that is Gears of War 1-5, Gears of War Judgement and the latest Gears Tactics. It wasn't always easy to decide whether to classify certain enemies as bosses, because the transition from a brute to a mini boss is often fluid. You can always find arguments for and against a classification as a mini-boss. But in this video, I've been a bit stricter than usual and classified less enemies as mini bosses than I usually do. Nevertheless, I have listed Gunker, Stump and Warden, candidates that might as well be just tougher enemies. Pouncers, Seeders, Reavers and other opponents could also be classified as Mini-Bosses depending on the situation. In my videos I always have to make a decision in the end, which can never do justice to all situations and views: For example, even a Brumak is easier to kill with a tank or a mortar than a Boomer with a lancer. Is he still a boss then? He still has the same hit points, size, etc., but is hardly a danger in this game situation... These classifications will never be able to meet scientific criteria, and boss definitions must be flexible. A former boss becomes a standard opponent in the next moment, and a standard opponent can become a mini boss under certain conditions. But I know that there will be people again who will say "X is not a boss, and you forgot Y". Believe me, I didn't forget anybody, I looked at every single opponent and made a decision. Other people decide differently. Take a more relaxed view: games are entertainment, and my video is already elaborate enough and doesn't have the ambition of a factor analysis for a large-scale study.

Just give the Gears 1/Ultimate berserker the AI from Gears 3 and we're golden. I hated how in GOW 1, even the remastered, the Berserkers are kinda stupid in the sense that they'll stop running before they reach you sometimes.
I remember playing it on ultimate edition It's was SCARY!
Especially when only fire and the Hammer of Dawn was the only way to kill it and you had to get outside in other to even use one of those Options. Loved how intense it was.

I'd love to see certain Gears bosses fight one another, imagine a Leviathan fighting off against a Kraken or a Lambent Zerker against The Matriarch
For the last one I’ll take lambent zerker, we can see that they both have spots that are sensitive to bullets so they are very similar, but what puts the lambent zerker apart from the matriarch is that the lambent zerker is immune to any attacks that aren’t to its chest, so the matriarch would have to hit the chest but then again the tentacles are keeping it away so it won’t be able to attack plus the lambent zerker durability

@@rushpatriot2866 true, but remember that the lambent zerker is immune to the hammer of dawn, what makes you think that a quill is gonna kill it, plus we’ve seen it’s agility so it could easily dodge the quills. And while the lambent zerker charges it leaves a trail of flaming imulsion and the matriarch is prone to fire and ice attacks

The first 3 games had me trembling because of how violent and overall grim it was. The latest 2 did stress me, but were incomparable to the others

It was definitely the grainy and flat texture of the first 3 that differentiate them from the new ones. Back then, the including of violence was more relaxed but potent, but today, it kinda has to be dumbed down, but regardless, the new ones are still pretty good.
3 was the depressing one. Dom, the goated brosky in arms of Marcus, didn't have his life taken, but he gave up his life for them to live. Kinda like Jesus but not really.

Gears 1-3 have some great creature design. Kinda disappointed with 4 and 5's machine enemies and slight variations of existing monsters.
Swarm enemies look like some kind of Locust + crab hybrid. And most of them look all the same

Gears of War had a great impact on my childhood I will never forget it, still haven’t played any of them after Judgment tho
Judgement wasn’t that bad, it just changed the formula up a bit and thats alright, at-least they continued the grittiness and dark tone of the original games unlike the newer games

One thing about gears of war, this shit scared you as a kid no cap, and it made you wanna play with the lights off for that effect. No other game i ever played, had that effect on me, so i have to give it to this franchise
Okay pick the enemy you enjoy fighting the most: Swarm, Locust, or Lambent? Out of the three which did you find yourself having the most fun destroying?
The Lambent/Locust
I would put them under the same category since the Lambent are Locust but they glow and explode. Swarm just kinda look weak.
Swarm need better or more intimidating bosses. Locust had dinosaurs with guns, massive spiders, berserking monsters, and a generally intimidating army. The swarm have normal locust with hard crystals, old bosses with hard crystals, or some meh creatures as their bosses. From the looks of it the swarm is evolving in their technology quickly so I’m hoping they actually have defining characteristics other than just scrap and hard crystals. They look dumb currently

Locust for sure, they were the most intimidating force and I always hated that the Lambent just exploded when they died so they never got DBNO. Swarm just don't look as intimidating or nearly as imposing of a threat compared to the other two.
Though a technically a repeat boss, I do appreciate that they switched the Brumak/Swarmak up a bit for Gears 4 and 5 with the whole blister mechanic.
Some tips for new people, in the original or ultimate edition of gears of war, use once the hammer of dawn and stick a grenade into the berserker, is hard to do but is a fast way to kill it

This video really shows the difference between boss fights made by Epic and then the boss fights made by TC. Honestly, i think i preferred epic over the pushover gears 4 and 5 bosses. Yes, some of them were fairly easy in the previous games, but they didn't end in 5 minutes either.
GOW 1 is one of the best I've played until now. Its atmosphere, new playstyle and graphic are all top notch at that time.

I have a feeling orks and locust would LOVE each other, one having an endless supply of fighting, another who meets another race that just gets them.
Here's some quick lore for ya
The locust aren't bad, they lived happily in the earth, but when humans started using imulsion it was infecting their race (thus the lambent), so they politely asked some humans (Adam Fenix included) to stop using it, but they didn't. After that, they pretty much said if you don't stop we're gonna take over the surface. But since their humans the said how about no and kept using it until the started fighting to take over the surface. So in conclusion I'd say the locust are actually very civil, so I think orcs would like berserkers and lambent because lambend are just crazy explode locust that know nothing but kill and berserkers are just berserkers

The only thing close to a beserker in 4 was the carrier, the body of a zerker but the legs of a rager.
Judgement has a Berserker or 2 during the Mansion part, although they're just the same as they are in 3

Berserker in Gears of War 1 was the scariest thing to me out of all the gears of war bosses. I literally used to get a pain in my chest and anxiety would go crazy every time I played it at night.

The berserker and the tutorial for gears 1 is what made me realize I am playing a big boi game when I was a little kid cause after act 1 I was shook for the rest of the game.
And then the other two games made me think dang the scary bits dropped significantly, save for the mountain chapter in 2
I love the Brumak fight in the gears of war ultimate edition ! I was happy to play the lost level that wasn’t in the original ! I recently been playing through all the gears games again plus all dlc and hidden content ! I’m having fun all over again ! It’s so enjoyable playing through the whole series one after the other ! I never did that ! I beat each of them at the times they released and you forget how awesome everything comes together , when you replay them all back to back ! I really hope the series continues throughout the years ! Cause it’s still my favorite series of Xbox gaming !

Thanks a lot! In this case I won't do an enemy comparison, because graphically the enemies in Gears of War have evolved much less than in other series like Doom or Wolfenstein. But I will make a video for enemies for Half-Life when the VR headset arrives at some point.

Well yeah Ukkon genetically enhanced them and made the helmet technology and with that they can control the creatures
They are even mutated to serve the war. Brumaks are heavily mutated wretches.
Also, they used the babies too. Ink grenades were infant nemacyst, juvenile corpsers were used as cannon fodder.
This is the game I want to play so badly, but I have a bad PC and I never owned an Xbox.
The toughest boss though is obviously original RAAM on insane.
I have the cutscene dialogue memorized from dying so much! Dom always went down right away, so it's just basically rodie running back and forth, with the torque bow and longshot combo.

Hell I won’t hate you, I grew up on 2 and 4 wasn’t really the best in my opinion but I definitely think it had a really good campaign

The corpse in gears of war ultimate edition on hardcore mode was not hard all you need is a long shot gnasher and snub pistol and the lambent berserker was not hard and the first warden appearance in gears five all I used was a overlill
RAAM and Myrrah on insane were nightmares.
Myrrah is in my top 5 hardest bosses ever. Insta death if she even grazes you, huge swarm of elites rushing you, tons of health, etc.
So I’m new to gow and my first game of it was gears 5 and may I just say that the older games graphics still hold up by the looks of it

Gears of War, is a game that has always been present in my life, since forever, I started playing it right at the end of Gears of War 2, when 3 was about to be released and I'll tell you... I enjoyed it a lot, However if there is a game that I could never finish in insane mode it was Gears of War 3 precisely in the fight against Queen Myrrah, I never called any friend to help because I always wanted it to be an achievement only on my merit, well... I think I'll have to wait a few more years to have this merit on my account (I've had this Microsoft account since 2010).
Cole is the king of the entire Gears franchise. Change my mind.
My opinion is Dom, and Clayton. They both lost so many people during E-Day. Seeing as how they both kept going amazes me. Both made me cry every time.

I get a feeling Gears 6 might have a Swarm Berserker with crystals all over bc of how Gears 5 was all about trying to get the Hammer of Dawn back. Surely some of the savage locust from Gears 3 had gotten some of them out of the hollow before Jacinto. Or they might just add some random new swarm creatures
The LambentZerker on Insane was SO FUCKING HARD TO BEAT. Took my godson and I a month of on and off playing to get past him! We literally did a championship celebration when we finally took him down, so epic.
