It's a damn shame I didn't treat my mouth better in my youth.
It's even more of a shame that I live in the US and can't afford dental insurance or a trip to the dentist.

What I’m saying is I can do anything to make a dollar, you mean to tell me you can’t get a job and make 100 bucks to get your teeth cleaned,
I understand when you’re young you neglect your teeth but as you get older you can fix them, we do not live in a communist country where socialism gives everything free to everyone, nothing is free you must work for it, even the Bible says a man that doesn’t work should not eat! I don’t mean to be Smart but brushing and flossing doesn’t take a Rocket scientist

I just went to the dentist after many years of avoiding due to fear and money. Been bleeding when brushing and bleeding when not brushing. I could see the buildup too of calcium and tartar. The anxiety and fear in my head was worse than reality when I did go. I had to go in two sessions for a root planing and scaling. Numbing shots are your best friends. I do have bone loss and recession, but none are loose (so far). My teeth look so much better. My gums aren’t bleeding anymore nor looking irritated and red. I’m so happy I got over my fears and went. So hard to believe that just a little over a month ago I would see pink in the sink and now I don’t. Removing all that stuff really does let your gums heal.

I want to thank you for your videos! Last year I finally found a good dentist and hygienist, had the gum measurements done and I needed a deep cleaning in November. After watching a bunch of your videos I got a Burst toothbrush, a Waterpik flosser, and a pack of ribbon floss. I am happy to report that at my follow-up hygienist visit in February, she took new measurements and ALL of my numbers went down by 1, and a bunch went down by 2! I felt like I had gotten a good report card. :) THANK YOU for helping me take better care of my teeth and gums!

I have periodontitis, I know I do. I haven't been to the dentist in almost 7 years. I didn't have insurance for a couple years and then got lazy and fell out of the habit of scheduling dentist appointments. Funny thing is that I never had a cavity in my life, but it's my gums that are deteriorating.

    • @IMTooShort2C
      @IMTooShort2C 3 ปีที่แล้ว +52

Same. I've never had a cavity and therefore felt like my teeth health was good. I go to the dentist once or twice a year and they always tell me to floss more but that's about it. Now they said I have gum disease and my pockets in some areas are 7mm. Gotta go see a periodontist now

You can have cavities and not know until it’s too late. I was shook when I finally went after 10 years and found out I had 8 cavities and needed a root canal. I used an electric toothbrush and a waterpik. I thought that was enough… it wasn’t 😢 Professional cleanings once a year are the only way to prevent gum disease. Because of my negligence, I now need to get deep cleanings twice a year. You’re not saving money by not going. It gets more expensive the longer you wait. Take it from me.

unfortunately most of dentists nowadays are scammers. They are capable of not telling you that you need a treatment for prevent further damage so it gets worse you will have to pay more, or its cos they are unexperienced and it really upsets me that dentists like that are entitled for this jobs, specially when you see a a young 20 years old nurse probably just still learning, attending you . I have came across many of them. I have gum problems too and attended a private dentist few days ago and was attended by a young man for my examination and he said I had no gum disease when I clearly do. Fantastic advice. Our mum took us to the dentist on the eruption of our first permanent tooth and it's been a visit every 6 months for the past 5 decades! I, and my brother and sister still have all our teeth! So do my kids, we followed the same advice. There is nothing as valuable in life for health, happiness, and self confidence as a great smile and a healthy mouth. Take care of your teeth and you will feel and look good..........and don't smoke. Cigarettes destroyed a good friend of mines teeth, and at 40 is wearing snap on dentures as he didn't have enough bone to support a full implant procedure. He hates them, it depresses him all the time. He didn't visit the dentist through fear and didn't even know he had a major problem until it was far too late. Always keep some money available for dental visits. It's the best investment you will ever make.

Same. I've had two sessions of deep cleaning. My gums almost always bleed around the same two teeth.
My dentist told me to keep flossing , brush at 45 degree angle, and use the Christmas tree shaped bristle picks on parts of my gum. Also said sometimes I'll visit 4 months instead of 6.
How are you taking care of your early periodontal disease?
      Any other tips?

Find another dentist. Your dentist should NOT make you feel bad. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Your dentist should be patient with you and explain things to you. Always always,FLOSS.When you can't floss rinse your mouth with warm water and then spit out. Maybe practice deep breathing & or do yoga as doing these, this will relax you and you won't be as tense when you see your dentist. I hope this helps you. Boy, to be 23 again!! What a great time!! But for about two years now I’ve been brushing my teeth every day and the bleeding was always there. But a few days ago I’ve noticed that there’s bad irritation in the back of my left side of my gums and I’m scared it’s periodontitis. I’m in college and I cannot go to the dentist sadly. I have no idea what to do now.

I don’t know why you’re unable to go to the dentist but I hope you will be able to soon! 😢 I too am in college and have been having problems with my teeth and gums for a few years. I didn’t grow up going to the dentist very often and have only been like twice in my 19 years of life. I recently got the courage to book and appointment as I was scared that I would be judged by the dentist and my parents for letting my teeth get this bad (btw it was caused by hard brushing) . I went for my deep cleaning two days ago. The best decision I’ve ever made. My appointment was split into two so my next one is in two weeks. My teeth already look 10x better (with just slight discomfort) and the inflammation has gone down massively. I will now be taking care of my teeth wayyyy better from now on!!! I hope you end up getting the treatment you need❤️

I am suffering with active gum disease now, (mind you I’m only 19) and I’m currently without any insurance or way of covering the cost of dental treatment. My gums have only gotten this bad due to the fact my depression has prevented me from doing anything. I didn’t realize it was this bad until last minute😖. And another reason sometimes people choose not to visit the dentist more often is because they’re afraid or they have no way to cover the expenses. Medical treatment of any kind isn’t necessarily cheap in the US.

Gum inflammation can have many causes including systemic health conditions so its always worth getting a full work up by a physician if tartar build up does not appear to be the issue.

I have very mild gingivitis on my lower gums at the front and dentist said probably from brushing too hard (I think I brush too hard here cos always told I have the most plaque buildup here) . I have been brushing ultra gently the last few days with electric toothbrush angled toward gumline and already looking better but not completely healed yet. I've changed to a very soft head too.

I wish i had found your channel when i had gingivitis before it worsened n my teeth broke. I had seen 4 different dental locations to try n remove an impacted tooth. Well after they got it improperly removed they had hit a seperate tooth with their lil saw n cracked it badly, the tooth got infected and so did the gums. I was then told that gingivitis is irriversable and that the only thing i could do was get dentures. So i gave up, i started eating all kinds of foods id never eaten because i might as well if im gonna loose em. Now im at the stage of periodontitis my teath are cracking and shattering because multiple professionals told me it cant be treated and it would take thousands to replace with dentures. I was barely 21 and its 2 years later.

Ive just been to dentist for routine check up, had teeth cleaned by hygienist, i look after my teeth but noticed that my gums are receeding, my dentist has recommended a gum graft as she think i have been brushing my teeth too hard, i use an electric toothbrush with a light so i know this cant be the case. I have swapped to senstive oral b heads but worried about receeding gums, i am going through menopause and read this can affect gum tissue is this true?

You have to visit the dentist more frequently. Sometimes intervals of 4 , sometimes 6. Deep cleaning/scaling to start.
If your dentist isn't concerned and judging whether you need to come in at 4 or 6 nor doesn't do a scaling, find a new dentist. Periodontitis will progress without professional intervention.
Good news Is it can be controlled.

hi!! i'm soo sad and in panick right now!! i'm 16. i had noticed that my gum was thin and the roots of my teeth were getting exposed, i once told a dentist about my concern and she said everything was fine. also my family were talking about maybe go and seeing another dentist but then covid came up and we forgot about all of that.
a couple of days ago, after i ate pickles i noticed one of my teeth was loose! i was frightened! we sent a photo of my gums and teeth to that dentist i was talking about, then again she said there was no recession, they were just puffy. she told me to take vitamin b, use salt-water rinse, use paradontax toothpaste and drink a calming tea before bed to avoid teeth grinding. i wasn't convinced but now where i live is highly risky in terms of corona. there are no doctors are available.
for the last couple of days: i drink a lot of water, avoid cold/hot foods or fluids, mostly eat soft things, fully cut off the black tea and coffe, only drink calming and herbal teas, i brush twice a day with paradontax(w a soft brush and really gently) i floss before brushing etc.
but when i'm chewing something i feel my front lower teeth are loose. im so scared and idk what else to do, i did a lot of research online and now i seriously think i have periodontitis.
and im so pissed of because im only 16 and my teeth are loose, i deserved to be taken more seriously. please can you give some advice for me?? (btw they are all adult teeth)

My dentist, like my doctor's , give me minimal instructions, advice, or explanation of what is happening to my teeth let alone my general health. I get more explanation from TH-cam and the internet. And yet they all tell me to stop doing that. I have been misdiagnosed, given wrong medicine, told I had something when I did not, and just given shit treatment all too often.
