Is it really a "new airport," or a new airport terminal. I don't live in New Orleans, but to me it looks like the same runways, so the same airport. It's the old terminal being replaced by a new one. Every other airport that has been around a long time has replaced terminals, added terminals, or remodeled terminals to such a degree that they look brand new. It's just that large airports don't do this stuff all at once, but in stages, like one terminal at a time.
There's still a lot of people that don't know that the old terminal is closed even in 2023.
