- Smoother than last year , our bales are being made in this video and it’s a summary of how the much anticipated baling day went down, how much hay we have made and what to do with the bales now
Thanks for watching 🧡
Nice bales Joanna. The contractor's did a good job.
Thank you Jeff
I've watched your videos for years. It still amazes me the time and effort to build those rock walls. Glad haying went well.
Thank you so much for watching and continuing to watch
Great video!! Once harvested, collected and packed you can rest easy Joanna!!👌🏽🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you Daniel xx
Congratulations, I agree with you that this is probably quite a relief. It’s so nice to see you and Nick work as a effective team, with a twinkle of love. You both have created such a magical place. I know your dad would be very proud. ❤️🙏🏼
Thank you Keith this is such a lovely comment and we talk about dad all the time and what we would say or think about things x

Thank you Nancy , yes the hills are a nice backdrop x
Hello Joanne you have a good crop of hay hope you get it baled before it rains ❤❤
Wonderful to see you getting through hay time, with all your hard work now paying off. It's such a stressful time with the weather, especially in our country this year. Well done 😊. Your lambs look in fantastic shape Jo. Thank you for sharing your wonderful farm life with us 💜. And the views are just amazing 💜
Ahh thank you for this lovely comment , really kind and uplifting words! We appreciate it! Thank you for watching.
Nice work Jo and Nick. Would have been nice to see you enjoying a beer together! 😄😄👍👍
Hi 👋 I can’t remember if we even did have a beer after all that ! 🤣
@@DaleFarm Well, you should have done Jo, I can think of very few things nicer than to enjoy a nice cold beer after a hot day's haymaking...but, then again, I need very little excuse! 😄👍
Your hay/haylege is all very natural and as such it is perhaps challenged a little more by the weather etc as opposed to throwing a lot of tillage or slurry on it. It would be interesting to if some soil samples of your land was compared to a more intensive set up. It’s good to see you and Nick with some well deserved sun on your backs.
Thank you, yes I imagine the soil is poor compared to some places but it works for us so that’s the main thing 🥰
Lovely stuf yous 2 nice big rowes ok be safe
Thank you Lee
Looks nice and warm where you are, like winter in this part of Scotland.
It’s very up and down here …!
Some days warm , some days like autumn
Hi girl that was class good looking hay and your looking so beautiful yourself girl ❤❤❤❤❤❤
was a nice video again. very recognizable so I find your work and method great. and you joanna can tell nice stories. only a pity that the video stops suddenly. I can not wait for the new video. enjoy your sunday. 😘🤠🌞🇳🇱
It ends randomly because I don’t know what I will use in a video or how it will start / end so I juus try and piece together bits, the next video will continue where the last one ended xx
@@DaleFarm good to know thank you for your response. i am new to the new video.😘
Another great video. Your smile is a perfect start to the day. Well done on the hay. I am finished with second cutting. How many cuttings do you get from your fields? Do you fertilize your hay fields?
Well done you & Nick on the hay making 2024 and more knowledge & experience ye have learned too so job right 👍👍👍
Thank you Michael
Did you always make Round bales The wee square are a lot of work Well done Joanne xxxx
Mostly round here are round bales
Yes sale some that's a very good idea and I do believe you have way more than you need but always keep a reserve I was thinking of the day I flew into Gatwick all the little white dots on the greenfields 😁🐝
That's great, should be some nice forage for the winter kuhn bales too always great solid bales.just work towards that bigger tedder now for next year!maybe claas or krone have out of season deals
Nice to see the hay making getting done.
Yeah a great feeling
Hi Joanna excellent video again, it must be very satisfying watching the bailer makes all that hard work and worrying worth it. Now all you need is a shower for the grass. At least you can get a bit of revenue back if you sell a few. Thanks again take care and be safe 👍 😊.
Thank you kelvin! It’s a relief to have completed it all xxx
You're a great girl Joanne. Sell your bales. Round bales of straw are 50 euros in Ireland 🇮🇪. Good luck with everything xxxx
Thank you David x
Great to see it all baled and wrapped 😁🎉🍺 nice to hear your more than you need (but you never know what winter will do!) might be worth holding onto extras as I don’t think prices are anything special and saves you the work next year 🤷♂
Small bales are coming up next! 😀😀😀
Outstanding work, Nick has a little wall build to do, now nice video 😁
Cracking video as always great to see you getting the hay bale Joanna @ Nick 👍👍👍🦌
Thank you sandy
Nice one Jo, that's hay making done for another year, and it must be a relief for you both. That's my hay making fix for this year and at 76 I hope to see you at it again next year, but who knows, many thanks to you both and bet wishes from EA.
Hi Colin well I hope you have energy for a bit more as we have the small bales of hay coming up next!
@@DaleFarm That's lovely Jo, you can't have too much of a good thing, bring em on.
See ya who won the fight with Weather and got your handmade. Good for you!
Thank you John!
Joanna I can get over the fact your mark is almost identical to my dad's. His was just slightly ahead between front shoulders exact same color. Love your videos cheers !
Yeah that’s nice to remember him I bet John!
Too much is always a good thing, you never know what the weather will be like this coming winter l
That’s so true and we agree
Cracking Crop😮Joanne, no need to worry about your hay making skills.
Ahh thank you that’s such a nice comment to read, really appreciate it
A great feeling when it's all baled and wrapped. Remember seeing a round bale of straw that had crossed a road once. Luckily it was a minor road. Thanks for the video. All the best 🇬🇧.
Thank you! Wow yeah escaped bales are a nightmare! A friend send us a photo
Of hay fallen off a lorry! Bet that was a shock
Oh what a beautiful morning 🎶 (Oklahoma). WOW the baling machine looked as if it was giving birth! 😁 Thanks again for a great video 🐑
Hehe yeah the machine lays giant eggs 🍳
Always a relief to get the hay making done, you wait and wait for crop to grow then ,wait and decide when to mow, hoping you’ve chosen the right dry weather spell and that it’ll last so you can get the hay all gathered in in time, And you did ,job well done to you both
You 2 have done so well, I used to love the hay harvest at my uncles farm, only small bales then
Thank you so much ☺️ it really is lovely to read such kind comments
Excellent video again thanks for sharing lambs are looking great and what a relief having haying gone so well xx
Thank you Terry xxx
That Big Liquorice Dumb Bell loose in the field !!!! Very good effort & lovely seeing you & Nick being a couple beautifully bouncing off each other & Yes always wondered what you'd do with surplus Hay Bales Sell them definitely Love Dale Farm Joanna & Nick xx
not a bad year to be selling fodder ..........look around and see what it is going for in the area , and set your price accordingly ........
you have lambs that look to be fit for the mart , sheep have never been as high a price in the month of august as they have this year .....I have only a few left ........but it was good while it lasted ...!
so pleased it went well xxx
Thank you Deanna xx
7:08 jesus, you've gotta place those bales so they don't start rolling. i heard a story from where my grandparents lived that happened last year. a bale rolled at full speed between two neighboring houses, over a road and way down. luckily no harm was done, but imagine what could have happened. when the farmer was told, he turned the bales the other way so they couldn't roll. i can't believe that he didn't think of that in the first place. this was in norway, with far more slopy field than yours, and much bigger bales too. but from what i can see from the footage, the other bales were placed correctly.
Well, looks like the sheep didn't need to be told twice about moving pastures. . .
They were so ready!
lots of hay so glad you got lots for the seasons to come but whats with the weird endings lately ??? hugsssssss
I don’t film intros or sign off when I’m
Juus documenting what is going on it don’t know what will make
Into a video ,
So I just record bits and then when I edit decide on a natural end point and then pick up in the next one. Maybe it’s weird but it makes sense to me, no one needs a sign off do they !??
Also well done for making it to the end I figured no one would make it that far😆
i think most people are in the same boat as you and have good crops this year and have got bales left from last year........so i doubt whether there will be much sale for wrapped haylage unless you can get in with the horsey people and supply one or two of them
How cone you haven't had the old conventional baler going making small squares this year?
It’s coming….!
With bales light enough to roll by hand you probably would have been fine not wrapping them at all. Unless you haven't no inside storage
We don’t have space to store them inside, so the wrap helps us a lot ! Thanks
That bale is light
How can you tell Edward?
@@nickj5488 by the way you can role it .that will be quality haylage be no bother selling it.
I think it’s decent quality yes ! Thank you
U should try and sell some this winter.
👀🙄🐾👍
What does the red markings mean on the backs of some of the sheep? 🐑
It’s our herd ID
Why do you rap the hay ?
Its called haylage once its wrapped, I don't understand why they call it hay. Traditional hay is not wrapped..Well that's what we call it here in Ireland
We need to store it outside so that’s why the wrap helps keep the rain off as we get a lot of rain here
Considering straw is selling for £95 a tonne , think you won’t have any problem selling any bales you don’t need . @FarmersGuardian has a section for this 🤗
i think it's safe to say this year straw is dearer than hay
It was so wet last year they struggled to get the straw in which let to shortages, last year was a good yield for hay so prices not so high
