So glad you’ve got a great crop, and finally nice weather. I know that your Dad would be really chuffed with how you and Nick are running the farm. He’d love all the fixed fences and gates, things that never made it to the top of his list, but still needed to be done. Dale Farm is in good hands, you’re good stewards of the land and animals.
I can smell that cut hay on this side of the A-pond! And dang...that hay crop looks GRAND...just like last years crop! Enjoyed the video - thanks for sharing. Be well - many blessings! Cheers...
Beautiful footage Joanna. Love hearing the sound of the Belarus mowing...it brings back pleasant memories for me using our 920. Too work Joanna. Take care.
Hi Jeff, thank you ☺️ dad loved Belarus tractors and I know he would always say how impressed he was with how it worked 😀 it’s funny when you find yourself thinking “their “ thoughts isn’t it … if that makes sense ?
@@ckck7916 hi Mike good to see ya hope you been doing well. Watching some of ur live shows and hitting that like button 👍🏻 for ya bud. God bless and take care 🙏
You looked happy and contented Joanna and especially wearing your Dad's shirt. What a cool way to remember him. It must be hard work but watching the hay being sorted was like seeing poetry in motion. It is so uplifting compared to the other stuff on the box. Thanks for sharing a great vlog.
Very Poignant Joanna wearing your Dad's Shirt & Keeping his traditions on the positive environmental methods of farming. Beautiful Wildflowers & You kicking that Ragwort in its nuts/roots. Good to see you doing the Haylage despite the Chaotic Weather we've had recent Heatwave would have helped you Bale it all up. Yes the farmer next to you must put his Festive Lights up before anyone else !!! Love Dale Farm Joanna & Nick X
Almost missed this . Well you have it done by now . Beautiful scenery shots . Ragwort every body's pulling it . A bumper crop . Good that you get rid of it it multiply s . The calf was so cute . Lovely sunset thankyou . Take care .
@@DaleFarm your welcome , thankyou for sharing your hard work and labor and beautiful farm .same for Nick . He's great with all the mechanics , and tractors . Your Dad , showed you well . Enjoy it . Ya it's hard . I would of loved to have grown up learning this skills . Take care .
Hey Y'all, That is some good looking hay! I think you look right proper in your Dad's shirt. I am so happy you can have this connection with him. I am so sure he is proud of you and Nick. You both work so hard and do really fine work. Speaking of Nick when he was coming out of the barn with the tractor I was waving at him but he did not even wave back. What a beautiful view looking out over the landscape as you are pulling weeds. Is that crimson clover there? Thank you for this video today Peace and blessings, Steven
Hi Steven , yes nice to wear dads shirt especially keeping him In my mind and in my heart too. Thank you for your kind comments about our farm work. Yes we do have red clover ! X
Hi Joanna awesome video again thanks. There's something about hay making you love the smell of the freshly cut grass. Then you worry about will the weather be kind to you. The feeling of relief when it's all bailed and led in ,then the satisfaction of a job well done. Take care and stay safe 👍 😊.
You look lovely in dads shirt. Hes wrapped round you while you make hay, awesome. I would love a go at making hay. When my brother was 15yrs he used to help on a farm. Learned to drive a tractor then make hay it was his fave thing to do.😊😊 notived some pretty blue flowers in the edge of the field
Hi Dulcie , the little blue flowers are called hare bells. Very delicate I love go see them. Hay making it a fun experience, although very hot and itchy usually ! But unforgettable definitely x thanks for watching x
😀 Joanna, as I’ve said numerous times you live in Utopia, it’s such a beautiful farm. I love it that you’re honoring your dad wearing his shirt. I can only guess he’s smiling thankful, and admiring tears running down his cheeks. ❤️🙏🏼
Joanna's out on the pull😀😀. a year like this year your better to not sow any fertiliser.......i haven't sown any fertiliser this year and we were getting 8/9 round bales acre in june just from a coating of dung through the winter. the best sight ever on the farm seeing the baby calves having a good run around
It’s good when you don’t need to use fert cos it’s expensive stuff! We don’t need to do 2 cuts or anything so what we do works for us ! But in 2022 we didn’t get a good crop but we managed x
Doing well with hay making. Fields look lush 😊 weather is looking good apart from a few showers. Have a word with Hay Team TV guys about low input as they don’t use fertiliser too. I use a ragwort fork which is easier on my back. Always another pesky plant when you think you’re finished 😜
the beautiful work there is the mowing of the lawn. and you still mow with that old David Brown real and legendary tractor. i also work in mowing and i also like to watch it. you have a beautiful farm. i hope to come to your farm one day. cool video again i look forward to the new video. 😘🤠🌞🇳🇱
I was the same trying to decide when to mow. The boss man was away when I decided to go for it… it was too late to stop me by the time he got back 😆. Broke our 9ft mower and had to resort to the 5”6 drum mower 🤦♂ it seemed like forever mowing a few acres with it!
Slow process but you got it all done? You seemed to be flat out ! And you got all that rain on the Thursday , whereas here it’s rained for about ten minutes that day and then dried up immediately ! It was a good weather window thank goodness I’m glad it’s in
@@DaleFarm I’ve had the most acres ever this year, nearly 60 acres to do. Managed just over 40 and have 4 down now 🫣. Yeah there was about 13mm on Thursday morning😫 so took a good day to dry it back to hay. Problem I’ve got is the guys stacking on the estate, they can do about 400 bales before there done for the day soo grass can be dry off 4 days before being baled. Did manage to bale over 1000 in a day on customer jobs😁

Thank goodness it's done - the dry spell we have (finally) had has been a blessing. In some of those shots it looks like you had quite a few of last years bales left. Was that the case?
Yeah never know! We have had a different crop amount each year for the last 3 years since dad died - first year was poor, last year was bumper , this year a bit less but still good
Has someone who likes to hunt the first thing I thought was you need to get a shotgun so you can eat some pheasant 😁 it's August 7th a Wednesday 96 degrees with the very few clouds they're calling for 97 tomorrow it doesn't even cool off at night 😜 tell Mr Nick I know he's working hard but he should be happy he's where he is and congratulations on a great job love your channel it makes me think of me Mom 👌✌️❤️
Do you think it would dry quicker if you followed straight on with a Tedder instead of taking it in turns seeing as your mower doesn’t have a conditioner , just a thought 🤔
Yes the yellow flowers, it’s poisonous to horses , cattle and sheep , maybe goats as well I’m not sure. But in hay they will eat it and it causes liver damage/ poisoning
We've had issues in the past with the PTO rubbing on the drawbar (which is also why the PTO covers are shot) so to get around this we tied a bit of string to the draw bar to lower it out of the way of the PTO. There was a shot on the video where it was a little too low but not like this very often.

Yeah we could do that but we weren’t in a rush because they had forecast rain on the first day we left it in the rows rather than spread it out
Good advice re rag wort I’ve been using my hands!
Oops!
Gloves defo help xx
👀🙄🐾👍
We’ve been on environmental schemes for 15+ years. We have to mow “bird friendly”.
I don’t find it much of an inconvenience at all!
Yellow wort is a pain and spreads like wild fire
Yeah it’s bad this year !
those yellow flowers ?? rag wert ?? why cant they be in hay ??? hugsssss
Yes the yellow flowers, it’s poisonous to horses , cattle and sheep , maybe goats as well I’m not sure. But in hay they will eat it and it causes liver damage/ poisoning
why mow with the tractor drawbar down ,what if pin comes out and you lose the drawbar !
