Hope you enjoyed analyzing Morissette Amon’s performance of Ang Huling El Bimbo. This is a powerful performance with some beautiful belts, mixes, and a couple of good riffs. Morissette has so much muscle and knows exactly how to bring the power while remaining relaxed.
I am a jazz/R&B vocalist, baritone saxophone player, music educator, and vocal coach local to New Orleans. I have two degrees in jazz/music education and work professionally playing music. Thank you for all the support on these videos! It is such a joy to create educational, entertaining content for you. I’m looking forward to making more deep dives, as well as expanding on ways to create educational/music related content for all of you. I’m so grateful for every one of you!

Morissette's comfort zones are Power ballad and RnB but here, she is a Rockstar. 🏆🤩. The most versatile artists that i know since the 70's.

Great reaction, Erika. Thanks for the shout-out. Morissette has so many vocal tools at her disposal; it doesn't seem fair to other singers. And she always uses the tools that are appropriate to the song. That's her maturity as an artist.

Morissette has mastered the rock genre, her voice sounds so good with rock songs, when she sings a rock song, I cant listen to any other versions.

This is one of Mori’s performances that had my mind blown to smithereens. AMAZING! Thanks, Erika, for featuring this!💗
Side note: Filipino vowels A E I O U are all only pronounced ONE way (Ah Eh Ee Aww Ooh). Unlike in English where you can have a multitude of sounds for a single vowel

My dad's mother tongue is bisaya and my mom's mother tongue is tagalog. They met when my dad went to Manila to study in university. We, siblings, grew up in a tagalog household. I never heard my dad speak bisaya. The only time I heard him converse in bisaya is when he talk to his family. I personally don't speak bisaya but I would know the concept of what they're talking about during a conversation.

  • @denden7108

All Visaya can understand Tagalog, some Visaya can speak Tagalog. Some Tagalog can understand and speak Visaya. A lot can speak and understand both Visaya and Tagalog

some words are similar, sone words sounds the same but different meaning, but bisaya can understand tagalog since it's basically the medium of instruction in school and in TV, usage of English and tagalog is very common in school and TV. I will give you an example of a word that sounds exactly the same, LANGGAM in tagalog means an ANT, in bisaya it means a BIRD. Sentence construction and grammar is different

@@erikatorresmusic_actually bisaya as a language may refer to any laguanges spoken by visayans. So it is still not clear what visayan language is being used when you say Bisaya. Others may think it is Cebuano, a language used by those living in Cebu. But not all bisaya speaking people can understand Cebuano language. And also, Cebuano people may not understand other languages in Visayas. So instead of using bisaya, it is more appropriate to use Cebuano, if it is from Cebu. Morisette is Cebuano and she can speak cebuano.
