Morisette can really do ANYTHING. This is a couple of years ago and I love how she's not afraid to keep it real and simple. This literally was in her house, livestreaming with very little tech. But it doesn't matter because her talent oozes out and she just sends it. I love the nuances she always puts into her performances. I feel like it's never too much or too little. Take care doc.

I don't know this song until i heard it from Mori. After that, this has become part of my playlist. 🤩🏆. Mori made me liked the songs that i don't intentionally listen. That's how good she is.

I have always felt this performance is not served well by vocal analysis! I think putting on a pair of headphones and listening to the story she tells with her voice gives you a connection that is deeply moving! The thing I respect about her most is she never compromises to fit someone else’s idea of what the song should be. It’s always her own. Takes confidence in your talent to do that!

Great analysis as always, Dr. Dan! Regarding the dynamic movement of her neck - I think she's doing that to maintain that noble posture or ideal alignment of her neck and body to maintain an 'open throat' as she belts out those big vocal lines.

If she is with you or beside you during these reviews, I would almost be sure that she would nod and agree with your comments, for example, about her clarity of diction, her story-telling abilities, her control and "pull-off" technique, her sprinkling of some of her signature styles like onset growls and squeaks. I certainly agree with you that she is not trying hard to show off and impress, but she is amazing as always. Morissette is the best singer I have ever come across. Of course, talking about musical theatre, Lea Salonga is a Queen who can hardly not be mentioned. But Morissette has it all. Not only the great technique, the storytelling abilities, the most beautiful tone, but also the ability to convey and evoke emotions. No matter how often I have already seen and heard this performance of hers, I still end up with teary eyes. Morissette is 100% engaged emotionally when singing, and you can feel that.
