I've seen Les freak out twice in concert for people throwing thing at him. The worst was when I saw them play with Buckethead on the Antipop tour in New Orleans. Some idiot threw a piece of ice and it hit Les's bass. He stopped the show and asked why people would pay good money to see bands just to throw things at the artists. The guy said he wanted to get Les's attention so he could take him fishing. Les told him if he wanted to take him fishing, send him an email. He said he would never get in a boat with a dumbass that would throw things at him on stage. Les went on the tell the guy that the bass he hit with ice was a $7000 Carl Thompson bass that he takes very good care of. He started the show up again in a few minutes, but I was worried for a minute. He was furious, and I don't blame him.
Franomoly I was at that show.Incubus played as well.I remember watching the bassist of Incubus playing a semi difficult slap and pop bass line and looking to his left.Les was standing there watching him play from stage side and the guy got all nervous looking.I definatly remember the ice thing though lol!
I was at this show, same one they're filming this for. AIC were so good and the crowd did a magical thing where they threw the little water bottles , sold for $5, in the air as AIC played. Wish I had a camera then to share it but it was a great day of bands and I'll always remember it. Tool, RATM, Fishbone. Wow
The early 90s were a special time in rock music. The variety was limitless and all the big acts at the time were young, fresh and seeping with creativity that sadly will never ever be replicated, not to mention topped. For those of us that couldn't record copies on our VHS players at the time, we hole up on TH-cam and reminece on some of the most inspirational musicians of that time period.
Angelo Moore kicks ass, and it is a testament to how lame Ricky Rackman could be that he didn't acknowledge him. That was a choice Lollapalooza. Rage when they were just wee li'l babes.
It was a great world when Primus and Alice in Chains - in their prime - Headlined at Lollapalooza....What a great show - saw it at Star Lake Ampitheater (now First Niagara) Summer 1993....if anyone who reads this was there I'd like to compare notes...my memory is a bit fuzzy after 21 years...
I have this on VHS somewhere but you edited out when he interviewed Fishbone and they all were drunk of who knows lol,but Rikki asks "what's a Fishbone show like?" Who in the band responds I forget but the answer? "Fishbone show is like a prison riot!" RR:"Well that doesn't sound fun" "Prison riots can be fun!" Lol priceless
Is amazing to think that Lollapalooza used to have bands like Tool, Alice in Chains and Rage Against the Machine...pure metal!!! If just the people that goes to the latest edition of the festival can see this...they'll scared the hell out hahahahaha
Not really - its just economics - Rage and Tool were small. AIC was somewhat big the idea is a mid-popular band would draw in people and the smaller bands would grow their audience.
@@thomasmuandersontheneousul4184 I think he’s more talking about how these bands were/are full of… weirdos. I don’t mean it in a bad way it’s just that they’re definitely different from the type of people who play and go to Lollapalooza today.
Layne & Demri were broken up at the time, in fact him and Kat Bjelland were together at that point. Demri was arrested for prostitution for the first time in '93, she wasn't present on the tour at all.
No, she was not there. She came to WA show and maybe a CA show, but not NJ. Layne was dating someone else at the time. Plus, in another video he is checking out a blonde. He's not going to do that with her in the proximity. "Open" relationship or not.
I mean dont get me wrong its cool that they were playing all this kickass music but they were just cashing in on the craze, they have no idea how the actual scene or its fans worked. Thats why they send in dick heads like this interviewer that had no idea what they were doing or the royalty they were speaking to. It always seems like they’re talking down to the bands.
2:56min That is one way to complain after getting their faces smashed. The "mouth-shut-mocking" just for them technology. It adds the extra level of egoic agression they are never afraid of.
Also Primus interview givin props to Rush wasn't shown cause I remember seein them open Rush at Madison Square Garden and than seein them on randals island,NYC that summer
in the first interview with Layne Staley! rumor has it that, that’s Demri Parrott in the background standing with that guy! it looks just like her too!! maybe it’s true? 🤷🏼♀️🤔
Best one was 93 but I forget but which one had Janes Addiction,Body Count,Living Colour and some other kickass bands? 92? Or 91? I forget I remember it raining when got to Randall's island (tiny island between Manhattan $ Brooklyn NYC) and the show went on. But 1993 was killer I got to see Primus on this tour,Than did shows opening for Rush (amazing band as well) and saw them headline at Roseland NYC great year for shows But This went downhill fast 94 had green day started to get commercial, than 95 was boring all I remember was the bostones and 96 was total sellout Metallica headling Soundgarden,Wu tang clan,Screaming trees,Apocalyptica,"Shaolin monks show",etc.97 was kinda cool Tool headlined Korn,Prodigy(but left the tour early) I believe that was it I think until Perry Farrell tried it again a few yrs ago
He sure was. They played in Charles Town, W.V. just before this was taped in Charlotte NC. I was at that show, Philly, and W.V. backstage for work. Man those were the days!!
"Life feeds on life this is necessary", because they dont like it, nor do they identify into objectivization "lie, cheat, steal and he cannot tolerateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee]!" best kept secret.
wow. amazing time for music and for rock . the line up for the 93 festival was insane
I was there. Was 19 years old back in '93. The early 90s was a good era to be a teenager.
It sure was

paisteuser06 was a perfect mix and timing crazy how it all came together .
Doesn't mention Angelo from Fishbone right next to him.
Yeah.. God damned MTV douchebag "field reporters". And Les was sporting a Fishbone shirt to boot.
There's another clip from this segment where he says "and Angelo in the background, but we're not gonna talk to him just yet".
Went to this show in philly a.I.c. was great lane Staley was incredible also fishbone was on this tour as well what a great lineup
Lucky. What venue was it at?
Angelo Moore kicks ass, and it is a testament to how lame Ricky Rackman could be that he didn't acknowledge him. That was a choice Lollapalooza. Rage when they were just wee li'l babes.
I was at Lollapalooza 93 in Charlotte NC and I still consider it the best concert I've been to.
I was at that show as well!! I got to see Layne Stanley sing with front 242!!!

That looks a lot like Demri!
Wow Mtv was cool back then
Johnny Utah all i kept thinking was how much or a fucking cheese ball the interviewer was.

Killing In The Name of Rage Against The Machine
Riki ruins every video. I am cringing so hard at him that I cannot focus on the amazing artists that he will not let talk.
amen. 1989..i was an infant right when they started. fml.
Also Primus interview givin props to Rush wasn't shown cause I remember seein them open Rush at Madison Square Garden and than seein them on randals island,NYC that summer
Dude - Tool, Primus, Alice in Chains, Rage Against the Machine. I miss the 90's. Wish I could've been there, but I was only 4
It was unreal back then, to experience live. But, in hindsight- truly unbelievable. Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View, NorCal.
Oh yah, I was 5, beat that
I wasn’t even alive you’re lucky
Dang, I hope I can atleast see a Tool concert one day, I'm too young to go to any.
R.I.P Layne 🕯
There is a Tribal indigenious next to Maynard...lost from the forest

I know this is going to be a long shot, but does anybody know the hip hop song towards the end of the video? When he's interviewing Primus?
I am pretty sure its Arrested Development. If i was to take a guess at the song , I would say Raining Revolution. Hope this helps dude.
ultimok maaaaan, I'm so thankful for you! I appreciate that!
back when the world was cool
This is kinda racist, hello MTV
how
do you point at the sky and call it a nazi?
Come on guys! Pop Evil, shinedown, and Halestorm are way better than these “headbangers ball” bands!
