    Everytime you bring your attention back to your breath, from your thoughts, thats a rep, like a bicep curl. In the gym, goal is to be able to do more reps in a given period of time. In meditation, goal is to be able to do less reps in a given period of time.

    Bicep curl for your brain is a great phrase.

      Nice video content! Forgive me for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Diyaaroih Shirtify Explosion (just google it)? It is a good one of a kind guide for discovering the secret to hack your flow state using proven meditation techniques without the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my coo-worker at very last got cool success with it. @Drakkeur

    I want to really say something about DAN HARRIS. I had the Devine pleasure of meeting DAN through my uncle RONALD GETTER. DAN is truly a EMPATH and being around him you pick up a strong spiritual frequency!! DAN has been very and I mean highly supportive emotionally and a close friend of the family,DAN actually walks in the TRUE LIGHT. During my uncle's last days on earth Dan was by his side as a biological brother walking 🚶‍♂️ him through his last days. I understand like the esoteric Jesus DAN is a good example of that I never read or been involved with 10% happier or read about it. What I can say if it is the examples you've showed me and my family I must explore it. DAN HARRIS thank you for supporting my uncle and my mom emotionally and spiritualy !!!!!

    I travel for work and have a hard time sleeping. I often times wake up in the middle of the night and just stare at the clock. Last night (or early this morning I guess), I didn’t look at the clock and instead I did some deep breathing and concentrated on the breath going into my lungs. I actually fell asleep again. Thank you so much! I’m gonna watch more of your videos.

    its' the most effective method of meditation that I have found to calm my mind. But it doesn't even take 5 minutes to learn. All the other methods where you have to learn steps/memorize a specific method, such as counting, using a mantra word, focusing on breathing in through the nose / holding for 2 seconds then breath deeply out and hold for 4 seconds, visualizing techniques, etc. all that does is race mind my up more. With the method Dan is teaching, you just focus on your natural breath, relax and when you find your mind is overwhelmed with thoughts again, bring your attention/focus back to your breath, relax, repeat. That's it.

    Dan, thank you. This morning, I read an article about NFL quarterbacks who meditate (Troy Aikman and Aaron Rodgers) and they mentioned your book - 10% Happier. Thank you for sharing this info on mindfulness and mediation. I've already tried it and will meditate as a daily habit.

    Thanks for the lesson! I wanted say that there are people who don't have an inner monologue. Like those who can't visualize, there are folks who can't hear a mental sound of a voice.

    Just a thought. Changed my diet due to bad sugar crashes (yes, you can say I eat keto, but I look at it as an elimination diet). Seemed like I've been living with a food allergy basically all my life. Change in diet led almost immediately to a change in behavior. Clearer thinking and significant reduction between thinking about doing things (good things for myself and things on my normal everyday to do list) and doing them. Now, I'm getting ready to give meditation a try - again. I have tried mediation before, but since my diet (healthy by AMA standards) did not suit my body I got nothing from meditation. I understand this guy's approach. It's doing mental reps and now I have the proper diet to get the most out of it.

    • @bellavitagirl4

      You can turn that into part of your focus if you want, just noticing your senses on that beach and then returning to your breath - guided imagery is used a lot with meditation!

    I'm now struggling to meditate to TH-cam videos because of your ad's embedded command: "...can't meditate..." playing before all my meditations. It's all I hear. At this point, it's frustrating. You are programming people to struggle with meditation. Please rethink your ad!

    • @tohnk5629
      @tohnk5629 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Meditation and prayer are two different things. They're not mutually exclusive, you can pray daily and meditate daily if you want. But, more fundamentally, meditation can be separated from religion entirely. The fact that meditation can be practiced regardless of one's religion or other beliefs means that calling it a false God makes as much sense as calling any other arbitrary activity a false God.
