Shakespear's Sister was a great band with a couple of great albums. Sad they didn't last longer, and they had a bit of a falling out, but finally reunited a few years ago. Very original. As for next songs, I Don't Care is a lot of fun in the You're History vein, while Goodbye Cruel World has a hilarious video.
They are fantastic. I loved this song and album when it came out. I love all your honest and heartfelt reactions to music I have listened to and loved over the years.
yeah it's gotta be "Hello (turn your radio on)", though "Goodbye cruel world" comes close. The other ones mentioned too, And "Catwomen on the Moon" - which basically sums up the band completely.
Siobhan was one third of Bananarama, the top selling girl group on UK history. She certainly was my favorite. You need to go down that Bananarama rabbit hole. You will probably recognize’Cruel summer’ but they have so many other hits. She was married to Dave Stewart of Eurythmics and friends with Annie Lennox.
They were one hit wonders in the US with “Stay”, here in the UK they had 4 Top 20 hits. You should check out “Goodbye Cruel World” or “Hello (Turn Your Radio On)” both criminally underrated 🖤
LOVE that you love them! I'm a huge fan going back to their 1st single. May I recommend their single "Run Silent." It is - for my money - their best song (although I get that "Stay" will hold that spot for most people). Liked and shared.
You're History was the only UK hit from their debut album, but all the rest of the singles released from that album were superb too - Heroine, Break My Heart, Run Silent Run Deep. The sophomore album was so much better, but what a shame they took a long hiatus after the success. The second album spawned the other singles - I Don't Care, Hello Turn The Radio On, My 16th Apology, Goodbye Cruel World and of course, Stay.
Well in the 80s and early 90s things that aren't American were quite often different because America has a totally limiting and backwards idea on what it mans to make music. If you love different, you got to play more things that aren't American, though a few acts are so great and characterful that you'd never know they were Yanks at all (Voice Of The Beehive, Cock Robin, 'Til Tuesday, Berlin, Information Society & Bangles), because they are so different and under-appreciated over there. On Shakespears Sister I recommend you return to the debut album "Sacred Heart" for many things, but please note that the awful remix demons have been unnecessarily utilised to ruin the singles 'Run Silent, Run Deep' and 'Dirty Mind' so PLEASE PLAY them from the album, do not use the single versions that have the video, just play the songs as the album intended them. 'You're History' is one of the few like 'Stay' not ruined for single version so it's fine to play the video as it's the album version. From the 1st album, lead-off single 'Heroine' is kept the same, so play that video it's fine and I recommend it. 'Run Silent, Run Deep' is a lovely ballad and entirely different to 'Stay' but play the album one NOT the video. Others songs on the debut from 1989 worthy of attention are ALL of side 1-the title track, 'Heaven Is In Your Arms' & 'Twist the Knife', plus 'Break My Heart' & 'You Made Me Come To This' from side 2. With 2nd album "Hormonally Yours" that 'Stay' is from, you can play a whole host from that too, but note the same devils have ruined the re-released 'Goodbye Cruel World' and 'I Don't Care'. Play the album versions instead from the original release. You can also spin 'My 16th Apology', 'The Trouble With Andre', 'Moonchild' & 'Hello Turn Your Radio On'. They won't disappoint. Marcella was sadly let go and Siobhan did a 3rd album ("#3" is the actual title) that gets in there once you get used to it-try the hilariously bitchy 'Opportunity Knockers', sinister 'The Older Sister', 'Do I Scare You', 'Can U Wait That Long'. Then there's the 4th album "Songs From The Room" many years later and songs to check out include 'It's A Trip', 'Bad Blood', 'Bitter Pill', 'You're Alone' & 'A Loaded Gun'. But come 2019 they've returned together after aeons of time away, so check out the great video to great new song from 2019 'All The Queen's Horses' and 'C U Next Tuesday'. You should also get yourself acquainted with Kim Wilde-the best artist ever and the only act from the 80s to deal out 7 entirely different albums of their time, ahead of their time, while being timeless and all entirely different from each other, and one of the few acts whose many B-sides are solid gold too. Also check out excellent and horribly underrated German band Alphaville (arrived 1984 and still around) and Sandra (excellent female singer also from Germany) whose fine procession of albums impress more than most well-known people, and back in the 80s, xenophobia still resided, especially against Germany, and mainly any non-UK or US act from within Europe or so would be lucky to get just 1 hit and then be ignored afterwards, but America and UK has heard her as the whispering voice on many Enigma tunes, they just don't know it! Also try Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, China Crisis, Bangles, Cock Robin, Voice Of The Beehive, Crowded House, A-ha, Sparks and Cathy Dennis, and I'd also add that both ABBA and Duran Duran have even made enough songs that have not been made the fuss off that should have had, especially when they're deemed 'out of fashion' no matter how temporarily, or it doesn't sound like "their great so-called classic sound" whatever the hell that means!
They came back in 2019 with "All The Queen's Horses" after not having spoken to each other for 26 years!!! I highly recommend this!
‘I don’t care’ is great, awesome video too. Nuts!
All The Queen’s Horses -(their reunion track)
Love Shakespears Sister - try Goodbye Cruel World and Hello Turn Your Radio On, I Don't Care, Heroine, Run Silent, Run Deep so many great songs
hello is amazing. brilliant lyrics
Hello makes me weep. “Just when you learn how to use it, it’s gone” ❤❤❤

Hello ( turn your radio on ) - is a must react too
Yes, Hello Turn Your Radio On is one of their best songs.

This band and this album helped me so much through my late teenage years and I could cry with the nostalgia!
Bloody LOVE This song!

Shiv Horn (Siobhan) Far Hey (Fahey).
Next SS should be ‘Hello (Turn Your Radio On)’. Absolute VIBE.
Sal you have to listen to I Don’t Care….that is what drew me to this group!!
Thanks for helping me broaden my musical horizons!

Supposedly written as a comment on what Siobhan thought of her old band, Bananarama.
GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD is my favourite from their 'Hormonally Yours' album.
The first 7" I bought. Love these gals.
Great song. Not heard it before. ✌
Great reaction!
For the April 8th eclipse , react to Timbuk 3’s song - ‘The Future’s So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades’. A huge hit in the go-go 80s.
❤Her voice is insane
Forgot how much I loved that song .
LOVE that you love them! I'm a huge fan going back to their 1st single.

I'm going down, to Alphabet Street...
The album is great, Break My Heart, Run Silent, twist the knife are great tracks

I Don't Care is another one you should check out by them
This song is very Prince influenced.
On paper some things shouldn't work
But when magic happens, the genie cant be put back in the bottle
Hi! I did a short from this video. Where can I send it to you?
You should check out Heroine from the same album.
Great lol loved that (Y)
Nice to see a reaction that isn't Stay XD
Another song about the charming Dave Stewart?
Kate Bush vibes in that song but they were amazing this group.
you have to listen to Turbonegro - the godfathers of Death Punk
