    A lot of great FNM tracks were already recommended in the comments, two I didn't see are 'Digging the Grave' and 'Evidence', both fantastic tracks in completely different ways. The first one is a fast-driven guitar-dominated killer song, the other one is smooth as hell and probably one of Patton's finest R&B renditions I know (and it has one of the coolest basslines in their catalogue, too).

    • @strungth666
      @strungth666 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the bassline of evidence is so sick. king for a day is such a great album. pretty sure it was mr. bungle's guitarist on this one? and digging the grave is one of the only times I know of that Roddy straps on a guitar and doesn't touch the keys...?

    • @mediacopycatkillers

      It probably comes down to when you discovered him, for me it was on Angel Dust, so going backwards to The Real Thing, I was like "wtf is this nasal sound"? But then I love Fantomas, which some other people cannot stand, so there you go.

      His vocals almost ruin this album for me. It's hard to listen to or take seriously. I can only assume it's because the songs were already written / being recorded when he joined and were too high for him.. if anyone knows differently, let me know.

    • @mediacopycatkillers
      @mediacopycatkillers ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TerribleEnglish yes, the music was done, he had 2 or 3 weeks to write his lyrics then record. Matt Wallace (producer) says he tried to talk Patton out of the nasal vocal approach, but Patton insisted upon it.

    • @TerribleEnglish
      @TerribleEnglish ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Saw them live. Incredible musicianship and Patton is a vocalmeister! Style range and power, he can handle almost any vocals.

    Nice reaction. I appreciate how you let the music play a bit longer than usual before reacting. Keep up the great work.

    Mike Patton, the man of a thousand voices.
    When all is said and done he will go down, objectively, as the greatest singer in popular music. The range, the natural effects, the noises he can mimic/replicate, near limitless vocal talent.
    You wont hear another singer who has a track record of Operatic Tenor, Hardcore growls, beat boxing, a voice on a near 7 Octave range; all on like 5 different albums recorded within 5 years of each other, its insane

    It's funny watching you guys listen to a lot of the stuff I grew up enjoying and then after not hearing some of it for years, often I hear your critiques and totally agree. Like with this song and Mike's silly Cameo stylings (which I laugh at now but still get a kick out of it).
    Anyway, keep up the great work!

    Y'all should check out their track "Stripsearch." I think you'll dig the vocals more on that one.

    A similar band that needs some love is Mordred, who blended thrash, funk and hip-hop. "Falling Away" and "Esse Quam Videri" from "In This Life" (1991) are both splendid songs in the vein of Faith No More. ;)

    You guys still need to hear a song where Patton doesn't use his nasal voice, he just did it in the beginning when he joined the band!

    Their album titled ALBUM OF THE YEAR is my fave of theirs. Tracks like Collision, Stripsearch and Helpless are my faves from that album. Ashes to Ashes is from that album, too. Faith No More has a good cover of the Commodores track Easy, as well.

    Mike Patton has a 6 octave range...that is a very small and elite group. That is to say, Patton can be included when talking about some of the most talented singers in the world of any genre.
