- This was a tricky one to extract but I think I just about got there in the end. This track was re-orchestrated and released on the series 1-2 soundtrack under the title Hologram. However the broadcast sampled version (heard here) was never released. This track plays twice in the episode The Parting of the Ways. Ironically neither scene features the titular hologram. This is best known as the 9th Doctor's regeneration music. Enjoy.

It's bittersweet how Christopher left due to circumstances surrounding production at the time but I weirdly think that introducing regeneration in the first series was a smart thing as far as weening newer viewers into the world of Doctor Who. The lead actor would be here for a time before changing and fans had to get use to sad goodbyes.

Do you think, because this seems to fade in, that perhaps this is the second half of the track and the first half was the part used when The Doctor sonics the TARDIS away & the hologram recording plays? It would explain why the re-orchestrated version on the album has those 2 cues together in 1 track
EDIT: I recently found out that what I theorised is the case. Murray Gold has said that the track was composed for the hologram scene in the TARDIS with Rose, but this was changed in the edit to have Rose’s Theme instead, with only the first half of the track being used where Gold had initially wanted it & the rest being reused for the Regeneration scene. That seems to just be how this was played. If you mean specifically here, in this video, it was probably so you couldn't hear all the audio before it, so that he (jackardy) didn't have to spend ages editing it out

is it possible to isolate something from Waters of Mars and End of Time? those stories have some of Murray's best work

It plays the album version of the original track at the end of Twice Upon A Time just after 12 regenerates into 13 when she looks at her reflection and says "Oh Brilliant!" before the Tardis starts exploding ✨
