    Why campare and hate? Lets just enjoy the fact that theres alot of talent on the Rise. Pettersson, Matthews, McDavid, Eichel, Marner ... Hockey is getting fun to watch again.

    I attended one of your 3 day camps in Bloomington MN as a 40 year old coach in 2002..elevated my adult hockey league play no doubt...but revolutionized the training I took back to my initiation hockey program...two hands in traffic..one hand open ice..boom!! The edge work drills with and without the puck were amazing!!

      I learned that in power skating over 30 years ago in pee wee and bantam. Back then it wasn't common to skate and generate speed while carrying the puck with a proper stride, Gretzky perfected the skill and the top powerskating coaches in the day taught it. Now, I teach kids in initiation hockey how to do it🤓

    yeah Elias is great. He somehow reminds me of finnish Saku Koivu, with wide base and excellent puck skills. Although Elias is 10cm taller than Saku was.

    I don’t think his weight is an issue, he’s 176 not that small. I think his problem his he has small feet (skates) and is prone to losing balance

      Petey's weight and the fact he wasn't lighting up the CHL was a major factor. Weight always has been a factor in drafting. Look at the draft list of some of the best small players.

      Cody Peabody he wasn’t in the CHL. He was in the SHL which is a mens league. Matthews got tons of hype for playing in the Swiss league, which is way worse than the SHL. The hate is just cause he’s not Canadian

      @@WildBCFly He played in Allsvenskan in his draft year, not the SHL. But yeah, it's better than the CHL at least, and he did very good there for an 18-year-old.

      Crosby gained weight and didn’t slow down at all. If anything actually sped him up and got way stronger. The weight would suit Peterson well.

      Clearly you never saw Gretzky play; I hated him at the time, but really it's a few years too early to be making such a comparison, and Pettersson will have a very short career at the rate he's getting injured; I'll bet he'll be out again at least one more time this season.

      can't compare the leagues. it was a beer league when Gretzky played compared to now. Every play on the ice happens so fast that Gretzky would loose his mind.

    lifting the leg; not quite explained correctly. My understanding is, for well balanced players it shifts the majority of the weight at speed to the blade of the stick rather than in the feet allowing for stick flex for a snap release or transition to a backhand deke through clever transition of weight. Hes not 'kicking' it up really, its just a heavy transition of weight forward.

      I think the other thing that he didn't say but I believe Glantz was thinking about was the angle. His knee is pointing to the right, like he's going to shoot far side. While youth players probably can't pull it off, it might throw off the goalie by changing the angle of the shot when he rotates.

    Don’t get me wrong but these seem like basic hockey fundamentals to me. Have the puck on your backhand if the defense is on your forehand. wide stance on the breakaway for balance/control

      @@melvynobrien6193 Maybe, some players have had surgerys early as in junior leagues with no serious impact for their careers but i agree that petterson's career Can end up quickly but it can happen to anyone. Its way too early to say how far he will go.
      The longer the career with many injuries the bigger the head.. Just wondering why :)

    I played with EJ he was a scrub and I dont even need to watch this to know this is in fact his weakest quality as a skater..Please man he needs strength but man it is his hands and brain case closed..he is no fukin blazing power skater in fact I have seem him fall over many times on one timers etc He is awesome though and I love him he is smart enough to actually slow shit down and then he clobbers defenders with slick moves
