    Just wanted to say thank you for the video which was much clearer to understand than the (yellow) instructions label printed at the bottom on my Eureka 4800 vac. I finally replaced the belt on my vac after almost 16 years; I'm even more amazed that the original belt lasted almost 16 years and this is with weekly use!

    Ditto, ditto, to David Tay's comment and praise yesterday. Thank you. I am a 76-year old lady and I just put a new belt on my 16 plus-year-old vacuum cleaner. The belt was less than $10 at a nearby janitorial supply store. Your instructions were so clear. In addition, your video lighting and filming were excellent. I felt bad when you hurt your hand; I wanted to do the grandmother thing and put a bandaid on it with a lot of praise and animated cheers. You make a lot of people feel good about themself; many thanks.

    Thanks so much! I got a new belt and followed your instructions and it worked. (The belt broke after a string which had fallen out of old bathing trunks got wrapped around the belt and brush).

    Before adding the new belt you have to clean the burned rubber from the old belt off the motor shaft. Use a green kitchen scrub pad, fire up the vacuum without the belt and then clean the motor drive shaft while its spinning. takes 5 seconds.... if you put a new belt on a motor shaft with burned rubber, it will dramatically cut the life of the new belt. Emery cloth or fine sand paper would even work better.

    The rubber squeegee-like piece on the outside of the brush housing fell off and I can't seem to get it to pop back in. It is the piece just to the right of your cuff at 4:39. Does this even matter? If so, how do I get it back in? Thanks!

    Ugh I went out to both Home Depot and Walmart tonight looking for the belt for this model and neither carry them. On further checking neither does Lowe’s or Target. The only way I can see to get it is order it online :(

    So strange but I have the exact same vacuum as in the video but the metal piece where the belt goes around goes across the whole channel. There is no “gap” for me to get the new belt on or off. So strange. Any ideas?

    • @TheFixerHomeRepair
      @TheFixerHomeRepair  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey David. That is strange... I wonder if the shaft just worked itself out over time? Can you try prying it over carefully? Let me know if you got it to work. Thanks for checking out the video!

    I need to take it down to the motor. I have take many even older ones down to the motor . It sounds as if the fan is damaged in it and I can't get the top off the base to get to the motor. The belt is fine as is the roller and nothing is clogged in the hoses but somethings sounds like it is clunking in the motor....

    I did that on my Eureka, but the bands broke within 30 seconds. Something else must be wrong. :- (
