My Roborock was one of the best purchases I’ve made for my condo. It takes care of vacuuming and mopping even in tight places. Im not going back to a regular broom or vacuum ever again.

Yes yes yes to all these. I do all of this and it absolutely makes life easier and better. One thing I would add is cable clips for charging cables. I use clear cable clips by 3m and put them on night stands and desks to hold usb cables and charging cables in reach. The clear ones match any color of furniture.

I thoroughly enjoy listening to your videos. But I have always hoped you would take a bit about design for those who wish to "age at home." There are so many things to consider, it can be a bit overwhelming. Maybe, you'll do a video about design and aging at home. Thanks

This is an interesting conversation. In regards to aging and design, were you thinking adaptability of the home or what did you have in mind?

Finally! Someone who agrees that less thread count with quality cotton is better for sheets.
For anyone with pets, you need to have robotic vacuums timed for when you’re home. If there’s a mess in the floor, robotic vacuums make it worse 🫤

@flufwix for the summer time here in Australia, i was recently converted to 100% bamboo sheets. They remain soft, feather light and are a blessing if you dont have air-conditioning or issues with body temperature. I always swore by Sheridan brand Cotton sateen bed linen. They stay perfect, for decades. Sold here in Australia. But in the heat the thickness is too much. Inexpensive 100% bamboo sheets are amazing in humid environments

    For me
    1. Showerheads. So many places ive lived had terrible cheap showerheads and upgrading to a nice 9ne isnt that much. You can get pretty nice more functional ahowerhead and wand combos from 30 to 60.
    2. Bidet toilet seat, this really is a life changer and again you can get one from 30 to 60 unless you want a powered one.
    3. Ceiling fans and light fixtures, easy to replace and not very expensive.

Knife guy here, wouldn't say that 2000 grit is versatile. Anything finer than 1000 grit means it takes a lot of time to remove material, so if your knives are actually dull a 2000 wont really do much. Its really only good for frequent touch ups to maintain the initial sharpness of your knife unless you want to spend hours on it.

About robovacs, at least mine: it is a toddler. It obsesses over some places and ignores others; you have to prep the room (pick up obstacles that it will push around or get hung up on) and definitely put magnetic strips to keep it out of areas (for example a rug with tassles or a bunch of electrical cords or just under the couch because it always gets confused and stuck there). Don't run it when you aren't there to chaperone.

I love the my robot vacuum, I also have a roborock, an S5 Max. sometimes it is a bit stupid but if I just would not look at it doing its job, it wouldnt matter as it just spends more time sometimes being stupid. Also taking a few minutes to clear the floor from socks and other things before it vacuums helps keeping my house tidy and reminds me to not keep too much stuff on the floor. Just need to be careful with cables, also make sure your carpets are compatible, if not, you can of course clean them manually and have the robot clean everything else.

I, personally, would never tie my lights to the phone... especially on a schedule - it weirds me out on so many levels, especially the schedule part, tbh.
I'm thankfully not handicapped to not be able to turn on/off the switch when I need it - it's not difficult, and it doesn't take time.
I have mirrored switches in the bedroom - one at the door, one next to the bed - no need to get up for lights.
Simple motion detection (without wifi) lights are great for cupboards, storage rooms, maybe bathrooms/wc and stairs.
I also once had a clap detector to turn on/off ALL the lights in a room simultaneously - it was fun, but you do feel looney doing loud clapping by yourself, so I stopped and used the remote control, which was not really convenient either, so I ended up pressing buttons on the wall like regular switch without the remote.

I would love to hear some suggestions as to how to integrate things like robot vacuum cleaners into decor in an aesthetically pleasing way. A regular vacuum can be put away in a closet, but a robot needs to be left out in order to function. I already have a dehumidifier and air purifier which I need in my apartment, and I feel like I don't have room for more large plastic devices. A video on how to store these would be appreciated.

My cheaper robot vacuum brand's app only works with 2.4 GHz wifi, and mine is 5 GHz, so I can't use the app to schedule, but the robot vacuum works fine by itself. It's easy to turn on and it goes back to the charger when it is out of power. Robot vacuums are quite convenient and get 90% of the work done.

Hey Reynard, I recommend doing a bit more research on bamboo sheets. It's a synthetic fibre dressed up/greenwashed as something organic and all the certifications are bogus. 100% cotton is the way to go (unless you prefer linen), all others are a scam.

The issue with robotic vacuum cleaner is that if someone has a long hair you are screwed up anyway. You need to clean the roll inside the device once or twice a week. Then having dirt container is just a waste of money, because you need to hand clean the device every week anyway.

    • @EQR-mh8ix
      @EQR-mh8ix 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +37

I have long hair and two cats that shed like crazy. In the past, I used to sweep the floor manually, sometimes twice a day, until I got tired of it. Last year, I decided to buy a robotic vacuum cleaner. Game changer! The floor looks significantly cleaner. I use the vacuum daily, sometimes even twice a day, and I clean it every weekend-but I don’t mind. It’s that or sweeping the floor myself every day, which I got tired of doing. Pick your battles!

I mean, you also have to clean hair out of regular vacuums. It's not a specific issue with robot vacuums. Also I have a very bad back and cannot use a regular vacuum. The robot vacuum has been a life saver. When I need the big vacuum used I have to pay someone to do it or get friends or family to help me.
