use the behringer echo mashine pedal which i bought for 40 euros on ebay unbelievable how good that pedal sounds. and i use the eventide h9 max which is my fav pedal of all times!
Nice to see this video crop up on my feed as I have the Mimeophon, and have a Magneto on the way. I was feeling a little guilty- but no longer. Thank you!
Nice job of showing the differences. I especially liked the comparisons in the beginning showing the texture of the two delays. I can really see how their tonal characteristics would sit in a complex patch. Great Job!
Man, I think I’d really underrated Magneto. It’s beautiful, truly. Def on my list now, though at this point I’ve got more end of chain effects than actual useful sound sources 😂 The life of being obsessed with atmosphere
what an amazing video, omri. within a month i got all the modules, which made me start the whole eurorack stuff. I got the magneto 4 days ago and i patched the shit out of it. now i exactly know why this tremendous piece of module is that pricy!! the quality is just incridible....worth every penny. the mimeophon is next on my list!
Both gorgeous modules with wonderful sound. In your demo I actually like the *sound* from the Mimeophon a bit more, but the tap delays and features of the Magneto are very impressive. Great demo Omri!
@@OmriCohen-Music Using your video as a manual, so useful. I found out you can send a gate pattern to the clock input which is something you will definitely like with feedback turned up :).
Mimeophon sounds a little harsh, clicky and digital (in the first example anyway). Megneto is smooth and buttery. Mimeophon just seems like a super fun experimental device though. Thanks for the demo.
Nice demo of this modules. Really love Magneto looping possibilities... it totally transforms any sequence or sound. It would be perfect if Magneto could save the loops between switching on/off.
great video , really went deep , and showed some great examples , hp wish magneto is just silly for me , its sounded nicer for nice music to my ears but the mimi wins it just as its more random to my ears , I dunno lush sound over crazier , it would be nice to have both .lol
And you can almost hear the Dual Looping Delay crying "Why won't they play with meeeee ????" Actualy yes, why ? I feel that it is somehow in between those two (cleaner maybe ? but loops, delays, and also the possibility to modulate time without the pitch jumping everywhere).. I think I'll start with DLD and Magneto, but in my dreams I have an alternative case with Mimeophon and Tapographic, of course.
You know what, I guess that the DLD was the only delay module I actually used as a delay :) I think that the Mimeophon and Magneto are meant much more for sound design and not so much for a "normal" delay so that's why I didn't include the DLD, which is, as you mentioned, much cleaner and more fitting to use as a classic delay. I chose to sell mine eventually since I moved back to a smaller case and I wanted to keep the ones I used in more creative ways. That said, the DLD is quite a capable module indeed!
Thanks Omri having great fun with my Magneto following along to your tutorial.I noticed on my unit the Tap button doesn't flash red. Everything works fine the tap light just remains green? Cheers Richard
Magneto sounds about twice as good to my ears, but the halo effect and microtiming of mimeo makes it worthy. mimeo would sound good with like an e352 and the erbeverb
@@OmriCohen-Music Definitely having fun. I patched a modwheel to the Mimeophon Zone CV in, and it made for some great playability/jamming. I'm trying to figure out the difference between the clock input, any tap input on the Magneto. Does the clock input just snap to the nearest quarter note, and the tap input free form?
@@OmriCohen-Music Thanks Omri. I understand that the tap input is used to set loop length in Loop and Sample mode. But what does the Clock input do in those modes? And what does it do compared to the tap input in echo mode? The manual does not seem clear to me. I need to experiment some more...
Thanks for the demo. Magneto is super cool but the lack of clock input is a no-go for my workflow. Mimeophon is more classical, when you already have other delays, it does not seem to be killer. I'm using Erica Synths Black Hole, E.S. multi FX, E.S. Pico DSP, Doepfer DSP, etc (and more with ES9 and VCV or my DAW).. So Magneto is really the one that will bring me something a bit different, alas the lack of sync for that price (and that size !) is a problem.
@@OmriCohen-Music You're right, but that's one more module to make use of an already expensive and big module. I don't like the idea. Internal or even external clock div/mult like the muxlicer for example will be perfect... (I love the latter; it is useful in many situations). Well, the search for the "perfect" delay will never end I suppose!
@@alexwalli Yes it can be synched but only on the tempo of the clock itself, as Omri said it, for other tempi you need an external clock div/multiplier between your clock and magneto. I already have many effects and delays like the ES Black Hole or Strymon Timeline, ES pico DSP, Doepfer DSP etc, so I'm searching something that will bring something new. Magneto is cool but it takes a lot of places in the rack and need another module to process the clock. For that price it is not the droid I'm looking for :-)
How are you using your Mimeophon and/or Magneto? What other "delay" modules do you use often?
Mimeo as a sort of sampling looper voice plus 4ms DLD and Topographic Delay. Echoing madness bouncing balls)

Yeah, it can transform the simplest sound into a beautiful orchestra of texture...
I'm starting in eurorack, but my engagement was the effects, now reading your comments, I'm more convinced to full my case with effects

the looper section is magic i would love to get such an musical outcome!

I have the Mimeophon and love it because it does more than traditional delay.
Yes, the Mimeophon is an instrument, not just another delay...
wow omri! definitely got me desperate for a magneto now 😂 lovely stuff

Can magneto boost line levels signal enough for external line level gear, ty dear.
Well, I used my Kalimba with it and it did a great job amplifying it. I pretty sure it will work with a guitar as well, but I haven't tested it yet.
Hi - wouldn't it be possible to synchronize the Magneto to incoming clock by patching the 'CLK 4 OUT' to the 'TAP' input?
