    Very nice use of modulation Jeremy. I'm always impressed by what is possible with the ES Daisy when someone like Stephen, with some real DSP chops, is at the helm. I designed a little (open source) 4hp module around the Daisy called the kxmx_bluemchen, and been having a blast learning DSP myself. BTW, designing your own modules and writing your own algos is the next logical step in your journey - says my crystal ball. 😉

      There is no such thing as a budget modular lol
      In all seriousness though, Erica Synths sells a tiny modular system filled with a bunch of their Pico modules. It's got a lot of features for such a low profile, including oscillators, filters, modulation, envelope generators, a sequencer, effects and a mixer. It's $550, which is considered quite cheap for an entire modular system, but it's probably the best bang-for-your-buck system for beginners. It doesn't come with patch cables, so be aware of that.
      Hope this helps! :)

    Eurorack stuff is cool. But it's a lot like building a particle accelerator from a kit. Lots of complex parts and almost infinite ways to hook them up and very expensive.

    • @markuskoivisto
      @markuskoivisto 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s as expensive as you make it. What gets real expensive real fast is modular drums or Polyphonic modular, but if you want just a few mono voices you can get away with not much money at all.

  • @l1fef0rm

    When you did cv...why not just use Stages? And this brings a request...I'd love a video all about creating and using cv around eurorack. I really enjoyed and found your clock video helpful. I get uni vs bi polar, but I have no idea when or where to use. Then when you add in modules like Voltage Block, Stages, etc for creating steps and shapes, I'm totally lost on how to utilize. I get what adsr offers at the very basic level, but Im not sure of how to use adsr or hold and adsr around the rack.

    I really love the Noise Engineering modules, like really reaallllyyy love them. The way they work is just so instep with how my little brain works, the Mimetic is perfect and the Seca Ruina.... a distortion unit that lets you separate and effect to various degrees the 3 frequency ranges, with cv control over each!? Who thinks of that?

    • @FrediBach
      @FrediBach 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you love this kind of things, you have to checkout the Kilohearts stuff! You can create different effect chains for different configurable bands, in series or parallel. You can even add an additional band split in the middle of a chain and go completely crazy with it! So much fun! 🙂

    1:00 this stereo image is uncomfortable to me on headphones. It almost sounds like the L and R channels are inverted, or, like, the content below 400Hz is inverted across channels.
    I know I'm a little sensitive on this, for example not liking the raw sound of monophonic Rings where the modes/bands are split L and R - it sounds fine with reverb or in a mix, but by itself it feels unbalanced to me.

    Well, they at least SOUND great, which I do expect from NE's circuit designs. But if I've got this clip up on the 55" and I can't make out the NE module panels from a few feet away, that's VERY irritating. I can see the 606 sequencer and see what you're doing there just fine. And it's not an issue with the panel colors, as the 0-Coast is perfectly legible in the same circumstances. So the fault's not on your end...it solely is the fault of NE's utterly hideous panel designs.
    Sure, they make modules that are designed so well behind the panel, but that functionality is hard to deal with if the front of the panel looks like someone dumped some India ink on some old Blue Lantern stuff and then snarfed a mouthful of angel hair pasta and then sneezed on 'em. Edgy is just fine, but unintelligible isn't. And that does NE no favors as far as I'm concerned...even if they DO sound spectacular, which they do. Damn shame, really...
