Bluetooth greyed out? Hard reset for 2014+ Toyota highlander-tacomas

Thank you, my friend. The suggested sequence worked like a charm on my 2014 Highlander. Both bluetooth and map navidation stopped working after my daughter drove the car and said she had had issues connecting her iPhone. I guess she just maxed out the list of connected devices. The system has been reset now, and everything is back to normal.

This worked perfectly! The tech at the Toyota dealer only knew to totally remove the nav/radio and short the power leads to do a hard reset. My problem was with the Nav voice disappearing intermittently. Since I've done this the voice has yet to disappear. Thanks Dennis!

OMG I spent weeks trying to figure out how to reboot the screen because it seemed as the bluetooth was stuck and I wanted to avoid taking it to the dealership and pay an arm and a leg for something so simple. I just tried this in Australia on my Prado and wow it worked, but the problem I have now is the Bluetooth address and pin was wiped when the problem first happened. Any Bluetooth and pin fixes much appreciated. Thanks so much unbelievable.
The Toyota dealer told me I had to buy a new radio (~ $800) for my 2014 Tacoma. But I followed your instructions and it worked! Thank you!
They always want to make money.. then they take your original radio, they tell you that it no longer works, they keep it, reset it and sell it as a refurbished radio

Good citizen, thank you very much it worked on my 2014 Toyota Tundra. The dealer wanted $100 to diagnose and another $150 to Reprogram the radio what a scam. BLUETOOTH AND MAP ARE WORKING NOW.

Thank you it worked. I have a 2014 Tacoma got a new phone, connected it to bluetooth no problem. The next day, got in my truck no phone connected. BLUETOOTH and PHONE button grayed out. I called Toyota they had no reasonable recommendations. So, I am sharing this solution with them.

Toyota will moSt likely try to ban my video because it will cause them to lose money.. they usually make money by telling people to bring in their cars, they charge them over 250 dollars just to do this, they make it seem as if they replace the radio or something, just to make money .. read some of the comments in this thread and you'll see what I'm talking about
My 2015 Tacoma doesn’t have the “APPS” button but rather “SETUP”. I followed the same process and it worked perfect, thank you.
Hey man thanks so much for that information my wife has been with out her bluetooth/phone capability in her 2017 Toyota Highlander for a year and the Toyota dealership wanted over $1,000 bucks to fix it! So thank you my dude!!

Awesome! Worked perfectly in my 2015 Highlander! One note is that I didn’t get the “INIT” screen until I took my finger off the APP button. Wish I took pictures of my preset stations before this deleted them, but once I started I was too excited to stop.

I'm glad that this method worked for many of you, like I said, I don't know if this will work on older Toyota models.
I followed the steps in my tacoma 2012 and I pressed INIT two seconds But the message does not appear What can I do
@@omarobaleed291 if you didn't get the message then it means your vehicle has an older system. I think this only works on newer vehicles
@@omarobaleed291 also, I don't think you're supposed to press the INIT button for 2 seconds. Just press it normally. And hopefully you'll get the pop up message afterwards

Thanks a lot it worked for my tundra 2014 with the physical key in the ignition. Turn the key to on two times but don’t turn on the engine and follow the rest of the steps on the video. It will work

Worked for me in my 2022 Toyota Rav4 Adventure. Many options on the touch screen were disabled including adding a new device for Bluetooth, Language settings, etc. This reset everything and all the options are accessible

Because they want you to take the vehicle back to the dealer and charge you 250 dollars just to fix it themselves 🤷🏿♂️

this totally worked! lol. 2014 Tacoma. No engine start button push needed. Just turn the key, hold the APP button and turn the lights on and off 3 times.

My touch screen on my 2013 Highlander was dimmed to the point you could barely read it. I tried increasing the brightness, contrast, day settings. This didn’t solve the issue. I have a key ignition system. I turned it to bring the power on but did not start the engine. I then pushed the volume knob down and turned the lights on and off three times. It didn’t seem to work so I depressed the power button and held it in while turning the lights on and off three times. The screen lit up the way it was supposed to. Thank you for posting this video!

Ok, if you have Key and No-APP option… turn key twice, just as he stated with “ start button” … when turning your lights on 3 times, and don’t have an APP button, press the “ setup” button instead. Also , after you press the final “ok”…turn off key right away, otherwise it won’t work and you’ll have to redo. I just did this on my 2014 Tacoma, again, it doesn’t have an APP button and has an actual key….. many thanks to the original post!
