7 years later. Still using 1070 GTX FE !!! Going strong most games on high/ultra over 40fps couples w a 5600 R5 32gb 3200mhz ddr4 on a msi gaming plus board. Love it. Great card!

+SpurnOfHumanity They are putting their card up against the board partners. They feel their cooler is very capable, and it seems so based on that 67 degrees overclocked. I would expect to see the Asus/EVGA/MSI cards come in around $650-$700. We have always dismissed the reference cards as inferior, it seems like nVidia wants to abolish that notion and make "their" card a worthwhile option.
+SpurnOfHumanity There are other people asking stuff here too, so don't let the dude below get to you. I think I'm more confused then before the video. Hey Jay! I was at the event up front and saw you and wanted to take a picture with ya but was conflicted about bugging you for one. what's your stance so I know for future events?
+Wysent With A Wy well...youre not alone, in a way. June last year i upgraded from a gt 520 (ancient Egyptians used this card) to a GTX970, but the year with the the 970 was enough for me, and for the price of $700, come May 27th there will be a gtx 1080 slapped into my machine.

Ok, Just so fucking excited. I currently have a r7 250x 2gb and all the new games are starting to lagg like shit and i need a uppgrade. Was planning on buying a 970 this weekend but now im 150% am buying a 1070
Honestly since the 970 is about $50 cheaper, its definitely worth it to spend the small amount of extra cash for the amount of extra performance you're getting. I mean really its .5 TFlops less than a titan X, which is almost $700 more.
Word... I wish there was some VIP place where Jay would use that card and basically Max out everything in games like shadow of mordor and give us the average frames on it. Because a single 980ti had issues pulling that in terms of not triple digiting the 1080.
+Xedhadeaus it's not that hard to max shadow of mordor tbh. what it should max out is witcher 3 at 4k, crysis 3 at 4k, doom at 4k, GTA V at 4k+mods, modded skyrim at 4k.
i bought my 980 ti for about $650... I over paid, but I'm very happy with it so far. Maybe when the 1080 goes on sale i'll get one of those to replace my 980 ti. I can't wait for the bench marks on the new cards. Jay maybe you can do a 1080 vs 980 ti vs titan or something like that....
+YerushalayimShelZahv Would be awesome to see the difference between the two. Although I heard the 1070 is able to output the same as the titan. That would be interesting to investigate too.
yes, nvidia claims the 1070 actually out performs the titan, but who knows. I would love to get my hands on one of these new cards, still debating if I should get it asap or wait for a sale.
The only problem I have with nvidia reference designs, is that after a while the fins under the window fill with dust, and it looks terrible. Sure you could take apart the whole card and clean it out, but that's so much work, when pretty much all custom coolers can be fairly easily cleaned with canned air and nothing else. Other than that, I like reference designs, and the new design looks pretty slick.
What I'm sitting here wondering is: Will the Founders Edition come with all of the (ASUS, for example) Easy Overclocking, fan control and monitoring software?
2016 / 2017. Simpler times. Got my GTX 1080 TI for $700 for my first rig. We weren't worried about cryptocurrency mining, and we sure as hell weren't worried about scalpers and a freaking pandemic back then.
While I'm still confused about what exactly Nvidia were thinking when they decides on doing this, I'm glad they don't keep the best chips to themselves and sell 'em for 100$ more as I was originally thinking. Thank you jay for clearing things up!
+88lochi I think nVidia is looking at what Google did with the Nexus line. You could get an android phone from any of their partners, but there's only 1 (or 2) Nexus. Might be under-powered compared to the partner devices but it's a Nexus none the less.
isn't this also a way of controlling the price celling on the base card? ie. if i can always get a 1080 for $699 from nvidia directly then i have market expectations from divergent models of the same and or similar cards from the board partners, if nvidia says they're going to stay in the space at this price regardless of if they make any direct to consumer business then price inflation would theoretically stay within a range competitive to this base model?
I subscribed to and starting watching you at like 400 thousand subscribers and im completely satisfied with every video you do, not a single problem :D keep it up mate thumbs up
Some people just want the name of having an NVIDIA card. I always thought it was pretty cool when I would sometimes be able to buy an AMD Radeon card made by...AMD. I would call it like a collectors edition. Also, I see it as a brand loyalty card and maybe they will offer exclusive DLC for games to the founders edition cards. Maybe they will let people with the founder editions cards to have first pick for the next generation card.
Yeah, I was thinking it would be like a loyalty thing where you're essentially a VIP and get first dibs on an upgrade. For example, send in your 1080 founder's to get 1080 Ti or 1180 at minimal upgrade cost. And/or be first in line for shipments on them...
+James Emsley did you watch the video? Jay literally said that the card was a random NOT binned card or tested, they put it in before the show and OC then and there.
+James Emsley Did you even watch the fucking video? Jay just got finished explaining that that is NOT the case. Not even slightly correct. Holy hell, I didn't think people could still be so ignorant.
i just recently got myself a 1080 founders card for an amazing price and switched it out from my evga 980ti sc and the blower style cooler keeps my case way cooler than the evga card, and my case is not small by far. i am very pleased with this card even though i am waaay late to the 1080 game but thank you Jay for all the info you have shared with us about these cards, i have learned alot, keep it up man.
you will be able to buy a blower custom design for 599, why would you pay 699 for blower nvidia one? or maybe even something like msi gaming for around 649
+Karol Jampolski I guess it's like buying an older car, bragging rights I mean. The "I spent more currency than you therefor I'm better" mind set comes to mind.
I was surprised by the performance and pricing on 1070 since, that makes pretty must all previous cards like my GTX 970 useless. Now I just have to find a way to obtain one.
I afraid that this give a chance for nvdia's partner raise the price too sice reference card now is more expensive, they have more room to raise the price
actually, no. the reference here is the very best nvidia could come up with to cool these cards. unless I see a very, VERY huge boost from what was shown on the demo, I'll stick with the founders. That forces board partners to ramp up their game on performance while staying in check with the reference price
+Manuel Saavedra have you actually watch the video and understand what is reference cooler? the founder edition is nvidia's reference card, and reference card have the worst cooler, like always thats why those partners' own design card are usually a little bit more expensive than reference, for the better cooling and overclock ability this time nvidia have there own reference card price higher, the partners can raise the price of their reference card and be still competitive against nvidia's card, that's why i am afraid for example, nvidia's gtx 1080 reference card is suggested to sell at 599, and founder's edition is sell at $699, so the partners can sell their card reference at $679, still cheaper than nvidia's, and they can even ramp up the performance and sell that card even higher than founders edition, like $729 and still offering more than nvidia's card
I like the idea of a founder edition but at the same time I think retailers / license board manufacturers should start to build blower style cards because I didn't want to buy a more expensive card because I might want to buy multiple ones. That would cost you a premium multiple times.
67 degrees lol, the frames were capped at 60fps so the card could have been at any sort of usage state..... I imagine if the frames were uncapped it would be a lot hotter.
+FX Jerzy Can I just say thanks? Not just thanks, but thanks and I love you! I really love you! Please, acknowledge my love for you. Feel free to feel embraced by my warm love for you.
Yes, as fast as a GTX 980. Annnnd two 980's are as strong as a 1080. Crossfire and SLI is becoming obsolete, so the only quality high end provider is NVIDIA.
+TheUnknownGamer obsolete? you high? far from it. still use crossfire and it works amazingly 90% of the time. obsolete really? 2 390s outperforms the 1080 by a long shot for just over 600 bucks. slightly cheaper than the 1080 as well. to say it's obsolete cause you don't prefer it is just plain silly
+TheUnknownGamer the fanboyism is strong with this one. I preferred Nvidia till I used my brain and realized amd has alot more to offer for your money as far s perf. per dollar. fanboyism is bad for both parties
Yeah. Blowers help keep ambient case temps down. Really useful if you want to push every tiny bit of performance out of an air-cooled CPU that is overclocked.
Or people who want their hands on the first pascal GPUs without having to wait weeks/months for AIB partners to churn out the best they can engineer, which _will_ take a while. Just because not everyone chooses to wait 5 years to upgrade to the next budget-tier like most AMD fanboys (which is why the company is failing to begin with) doesn't make them mindless. See, I can be blanketly insulting too.
+Pedro Bermudes Start saving those pennies even a GTX750Ti would be a god send for you. Wait for Polaris to launch and see if you can squeeze something newer into your budget?
+Patrick Mathew so like Jay said, you don't build then. A blower style cooler dumps the heat from the GPU and VRMs outside the case. This means lower case temps and better overclocking on the CPU and RAM. Noobs... Yes, that can be loud though. You get used to it.
Jeremy Volsche "A blower style cooler is way better than a open cooler if it can keep the GPU cool." All coolers keep a gpu cool. That's why their called coolers. I believe you are the "noob".
+Patrick Mathew please try to keep up. As long as your GPU stays at a reasonable temperature with a blower style cooler your case temperature will be lower than if you use an open GPU cooler. Not all blower style coolers can do this, or allow overclocking. 290x is an example. For a 290 or 290x I would not use the blower cooler used by AMD. But a 970, hell yes. Every cooling solution has trade offs, if one was the best in every situation then that's what we would all use.
+Tommi Honkonen He's under NDA. He literally said that at the very beginning of the video. He can't put a review up until that ends which is rumored to be May 17th
i know founders edition gpus don't have good air circulation but they are my favorite looks gpus even tohugh they only have black and grey they're just so smooth and beefy looking and i like the spiral looking fan. beautiful, slim, and sleek piece.
I can't help but feel that whoever throws a live performance out of their product release are not confident in said product. It is like those big game developers and their parties for mass-media with helicopters as taxi and etc. Lets wait for AMD's move.
I hope that with this two launch prices they actually make it sort of a price bracket, instead of minimal price we have seen before. I expect it to be like 600-650 for reference PCB-custom cooler, 650-700 custom PCB-custom cooler + founders edition, and than 700+ for ultra OC cards (Lightning, HOF, Kingpin..).
+Brawndo the hybrids usually are sub par. go aftermarket water cooling or just buy the best in slot card. for example none of the hybrid 980ti's could even touch the naturally air cooled zotac amp! extreme cards stock clocks. btw i like ur name & avatar XD
rustypro98 I've a SLI setup, love my 2 x 980 Ti Hybrid, I live in a hot tropical climate, my pair of G1 Gaming were reaching 80-82 with a very good airflow setup in SLI. Was fine for a single card though. 44-46c when gaming with the hybrids is fine for me, and maintenance free.
Brawndo 80-82 is prob. the default target temps. idk why but nvidia thought it would be neat to set my target temps to 79c..... i just made my own fan profile and never get over 60c. while being relatively quiet. why the fk would anyone want a gpu running so hot XD it's like a fucking space heater.
rustypro98 Indeed, I wanted something quiet, and while a single G1 with their open air triple fan config was fine, as soon as I added a second one it became a hot mess and I didn't want noisy fans, so went with the hybrid. I'm too clumsy to maintain a custom loop.
Maybe on 27 May, we only get the Founders Edition. That would mean the 100$ are a kind of price premium for early adopters until we get the cards from the board partners later. This would also fit the problem, that the GDDR5X-production is not fully engaged yet and they want to keep the request low to not create a shortage in stock...
Well done sir! Very helpful in explaining what is going on. I myself was lost, wondering what their definition of "Founders" edition really meant. I am SO excited to get my hands on a couple of these. I have been waiting a long time to upgrade and this card is a beast. I'm currently running a couple of HD6970's so I'm ready to upgrade.
If I would take a guess, it's all about the design and bragging rights that comes with it. I admit I always adored Nvidia design with the green text and all but was never able to get one of those reference cards as they weren't sold anymore. I think they noticed alot of ppl just want the reference card for it's design in a case with window.
My guest that founders edition/reference card is being sold to the market is in order for nvidia able to collect system info, logs and crashdump and sent back to their r&d via geforce experience or windows 10 support (a feature where windows sent back information on bugs/problems to them). This would help them to look into the various situations and improve whenever, wherever required.
What a waste. I love blower style fans but I will never pay for it more then 3rd party cards that pushes the card to it's full potential. I got feeling that 3rd party companies are going to abuse it by selling it more then Founders Edition as excuses its "Better" rather then MSRP "
+SIedgeHammer83 Can't you just get a card from Asus or whomever at launch before they've customized? Should be the same design with a different name on it at that point. Or do I misunderstand?
+Thomas Green I'll bet it still won't work. Super Enthusiasts will spring for the Founder's Edition...not to mention the only standardized design for custom coolers. The watercooling manufacturers aren't going to build 100 different blocks for each card, as that would be too costly.
+Philippe van Heek No other information on any other cards than the 1070 and 1080 out there, and EVGA already confirmed that SLI for 1070s and 1080s will only be supported for up to two cards.
+samgraves2 Founders edition = reference card made by Nvidia themselves Normal 1080/1070 = cards made by other manufacturers like EVGA, Asus, Gigabyte etc etc
I like what it does structurally to the market. It is also helpful for them if they want to build a more normal retail presence. The price being so high not only keeps them from competing with their customers (the board manufacturers), but it means they don't have to worry about dealing with the infrastructure needed to be moving a gazillion retail units.
oh- but I really don't like the Founders Edition branding. I understand wanting to move away from "Reference", but who do they think they are? a graphics card is no Tesla.
First tests to run: make sure the 1070 has the full 8GB of VRAM instead of 7.5GB.
+DrearierSpider1 And what is the point man, 7.5GB is more than an enough for gaming, what do you expect for 379$? It's not lamborghini man. :)
+DrearierSpider1 Id still buy it. Like I did 970.
+DrearierSpider1 Original joke is so original.
+DrearierSpider1 hahahaha :D
+Ben Davis where's the joke? If they say 8gb people expect 8gb don't they?

There probably aint sven drivers
I'm more shocked to see only 1 8-pin connector
All the Nfo we need on the 1080 in 1 good video thanks Jay. This clears up everything I did not know.
Can't wait to get my hands on a 1080! This will be quite a big upgrade from my GTX 770.
+Kenneth Lett i'll be coming from a 670. can't wait
How was the upgrade?
@@IndieChilloutMusic Its amazing! Still rocking it 4 years later.
nice
@@Fluskar Still using it 5 years later
that GPU stack scares me
The only problem I have with nvidia reference designs, is that after a while the fins under the window fill with dust, and it looks terrible.
I'm watching this in March of 2022. 4000 series will come out later this year. And will most likely be 4 digit in price.
A true prediction
i really like the nvidia design coolers
+Dave Wolax It's the opposite of what ive heard, the cooling should actually be pretty good.
Oki
***** Actually its the best blower cooler made, keeps all the hot air out the case and its really quiet, and it looks so cool.
hoping to get a 1080 soon
2016 / 2017. Simpler times. Got my GTX 1080 TI for $700 for my first rig. We weren't worried about cryptocurrency mining, and we sure as hell weren't worried about scalpers and a freaking pandemic back then.
While I'm still confused about what exactly Nvidia were thinking when they decides on doing this, I'm glad they don't keep the best chips to themselves and sell 'em for 100$ more as I was originally thinking. Thank you jay for clearing things up!
+88lochi I personally was looking for reference 970, and I could find any to buy in Germany
Es gab meines Wissens nach auch nie eine 970 im Referenz-Design.
+88lochi I think nVidia is looking at what Google did with the Nexus line. You could get an android phone from any of their partners, but there's only 1 (or 2) Nexus. Might be under-powered compared to the partner devices but it's a Nexus none the less.
That's what they say, how can we really know
That's the best they have.Maybe they have better and just not saying it.Wouldn't be surprised.

You could take more with that small loan of a milion dollars you got.
+Tronald Dump I am the only Tronald dump.
isn't this also a way of controlling the price celling on the base card? ie. if i can always get a 1080 for $699 from nvidia directly then i have market expectations from divergent models of the same and or similar cards from the board partners, if nvidia says they're going to stay in the space at this price regardless of if they make any direct to consumer business then price inflation would theoretically stay within a range competitive to this base model?
it should. unless Asus or any other pulls out a 1080 Titan-like card from the 1080 design,
I subscribed to and starting watching you at like 400 thousand subscribers and im completely satisfied with every video you do, not a single problem :D keep it up mate thumbs up
Some people just want the name of having an NVIDIA card.
Most people want nvidia because of the performance.
Yeah, I was thinking it would be like a loyalty thing where you're essentially a VIP and get first dibs on an upgrade. For example, send in your 1080 founder's to get 1080 Ti or 1180 at minimal upgrade cost. And/or be first in line for shipments on them...
Jayz I like your style
I really see no need to get the "Founders Edition."
exactly
If you like to overclock it is worth it. As its like a cpu that is cherry picked
+James Emsley guess you didn't watch the video
i just recently got myself a 1080 founders card for an amazing price and switched it out from my evga 980ti sc and the blower style cooler keeps my case way cooler than the evga card, and my case is not small by far. i am very pleased with this card even though i am waaay late to the 1080 game but thank you Jay for all the info you have shared with us about these cards, i have learned alot, keep it up man.
Who's up for going to jay's house to get that founders card?
My opinion on the founders edition;
Name - confusing
Business model - sensible
Cards - amazing!
you will be able to buy a blower custom design for 599, why would you pay 699 for blower nvidia one? or maybe even something like msi gaming for around 649
+Karol Jampolski I guess it's like buying an older car, bragging rights I mean. The "I spent more currency than you therefor I'm better" mind set comes to mind.
+Karol Jampolski
Maybe due to brand loyalty. Nvidia fans will almost always go for Nvidia, MSI fans will go with MSI, so on and so forth.
one of the better vids from you in a while ha
Me during the whole video:
"Don't Hold That God Damn Card In Your Hand, Put It Into The Test Bench Already!!! I Want To See What It Can Do!!!"
so for example, a future gigabyte gtx 1080 will perform better than the gtx 1080 founders edition and it will also have a lower price???
+comedyman112 exactly
+comedyman112
but the founders one looks so cool and shiny.... T_T
+Valdis Prime no worries it will go inside your case
yep. but I guess only in USA. where I live. I end paying if is 600 dollars. I'd be paying 900/950 dollars. D:
I was surprised by the performance and pricing on 1070 since, that makes pretty must all previous cards like my GTX 970 useless.
Now I just have to find a way to obtain one.
It's more expensive but it's so nice looking, this is going to be hard.
I afraid that this give a chance for nvdia's partner raise the price too
sice reference card now is more expensive, they have more room to raise the price
actually, no.
the reference here is the very best nvidia could come up with to cool these cards. unless I see a very, VERY huge boost from what was shown on the demo, I'll stick with the founders.
That forces board partners to ramp up their game on performance while staying in check with the reference price
+Manuel Saavedra have you actually watch the video and understand what is reference cooler?
the founder edition is nvidia's reference card, and reference card have the worst cooler, like always
thats why those partners' own design card are usually a little bit more expensive than reference, for the better cooling and overclock ability
this time nvidia have there own reference card price higher, the partners can raise the price of their reference card and be still competitive against nvidia's card, that's why i am afraid
for example, nvidia's gtx 1080 reference card is suggested to sell at 599, and founder's edition is sell at $699, so the partners can sell their card reference at $679, still cheaper than nvidia's, and they can even ramp up the performance and sell that card even higher than founders edition, like $729 and still offering more than nvidia's card
"Sat there, Scratching our balls." Haha
I like the idea of a founder edition but at the same time I think retailers / license board manufacturers should start to build blower style cards because I didn't want to buy a more expensive card because I might want to buy multiple ones. That would cost you a premium multiple times.
Sounds more fancy -> sells more. Ez strategy
67 degrees lol, the frames were capped at 60fps so the card could have been at any sort of usage state..... I imagine if the frames were uncapped it would be a lot hotter.
Do you need more than 60? Can you see more than 60?
+Gregg Smith
Yes, and yes.
+Gregg Smith Bruv the human eye can't see more than 24 fps. (well only 12 per eye I guess)
+fern 24fps for petty humans. Gods need over 100
when can you do the benchmarks????????
May 17
This blower style cooler is the best looking design I ever saw in graphic cards. It will always find a spot in my builds :)
Im soo happy I watched it on x1,5 speed
+FX Jerzy x2 here
+FX Jerzy if you watch it at 0.5 Jay seems completely drunk
+FX Jerzy how do you watch it at different speeds?
Bodacious T haha god joke... how many options YT do have? -.-
+FX Jerzy Can I just say thanks? Not just thanks, but thanks and I love you! I really love you! Please, acknowledge my love for you. Feel free to feel embraced by my warm love for you.
Now i only have to wait until the 1060
+Sevak Madoyan 1050ti =D
the Radeon RX 480's will cost $199 and perform about as fast as a Geforce GTX 980.. stop wasting money on NVIDIA
I preferred Nvidia till I used my brain and realized amd has alot more to offer for your money as far s perf. per dollar. fanboyism is bad for both parties
founders edition = bragging rights
Yeah. Blowers help keep ambient case temps down. Really useful if you want to push every tiny bit of performance out of an air-cooled CPU that is overclocked.
So, you're paying 100$ more for less cooling and performance? Ye, this might be popular among mindless nVidia fanboys.
See, I can be blanketly insulting too.
and i'm here, seeing those new cards, (780, 980, 1080...) while i have a 9800 gt. sad ;(...
+Pedro Bermudes Start saving dude.. Then wait for 1060/1050 :)
+Pedro Bermudes Start saving those pennies even a GTX750Ti would be a god send for you. Wait for Polaris to launch and see if you can squeeze something newer into your budget?
A blower style cooler is way better than a open cooler if it can keep the GPU cool.
Simply Face palm
it's a lot louder though
I cannot wait to see the custom designs from the board partners and what kind of over clocks these cards will get.
YOU GOT 1080?!!?!!? Ima go sleep soon and wake up sometime tomorrow and when I wake up there has better be 1080 review up.
+Tommi Honkonen He's under NDA. He literally said that at the very beginning of the video. He can't put a review up until that ends which is rumored to be May 17th
+RevoMarine Let's hope for leaks, I guess we will see them very soon.
+Tommi Honkonen its under NDA, hes not allowed to say much about it. let alone show a benchmark. later this month the NDA should be lifted.
TL;DR: Founders Edition = reference design, price hike is to not compete with the partners
TL;DR: 100 bucks extra for exclusivity that's not really exclusive...
+slaQ83 More like: TL;DW
i know founders edition gpus don't have good air circulation but they are my favorite looks gpus even tohugh they only have black and grey they're just so smooth and beefy looking and i like the spiral looking fan. beautiful, slim, and sleek piece.
the new design is sexy, but it's not worth $100
Damn, that's one hell of a party Nvidya paid for.
I can't help but feel that whoever throws a live performance out of their product release are not confident in said product. It is like those big game developers and their parties for mass-media with helicopters as taxi and etc. Lets wait for AMD's move.
Will there be an NVidia GTX1080ti releasing as well this year?
+Jimmy Dali not until q1 2017 at the earliest.
+xpD213 yes probably right before CES or the next Computex
Jimmy Dali you were right
Jimmy Dali yes
I hope that with this two launch prices they actually make it sort of a price bracket, instead of minimal price we have seen before.
I expect it to be like 600-650 for reference PCB-custom cooler, 650-700 custom PCB-custom cooler + founders edition, and than 700+ for ultra OC cards (Lightning, HOF, Kingpin..).
This Video is 11 minutes and 15 seconds long. 1151.....LGA1151.....Skylake
Jay loves Skylake Processors confirmed.
+ThePcGamer true
15 contain 1....Jay isilluminati confirmed. justkidding
I'll wait for the 1080 Ti Hybrid from EVGA.
Brawndo
80-82 is prob. the default target temps. idk why but nvidia thought it would be neat to set my target temps to 79c..... i just made my own fan profile and never get over 60c. while being relatively quiet. why the fk would anyone want a gpu running so hot XD it's like a fucking space heater.
rustypro98 Indeed, I wanted something quiet, and while a single G1 with their open air triple fan config was fine, as soon as I added a second one it became a hot mess and I didn't want noisy fans, so went with the hybrid. I'm too clumsy to maintain a custom loop.
+Brawndo But it has electrolytes it's what gpus crave.
lol strategic marketing.
Maybe on 27 May, we only get the Founders Edition. That would mean the 100$ are a kind of price premium for early adopters until we get the cards from the board partners later. This would also fit the problem, that the GDDR5X-production is not fully engaged yet and they want to keep the request low to not create a shortage in stock...
i feel utterly confused still
Founder's Edition=Reference Design
Early Adopter Tax and more straight profit for nVidia. Basic marketing really.
Just wait for 1080ti if you have a 980ti or even a 970 specially if you not play in 4k ^_^
Founders edition marketing bullcrap, that's what you get from a practical monopoly...
u can alway but amd, its not monopoly when there is competition
I was about to buy a 1070 Founders Edition but i ended up buying a EVGA Superclocked
Founders Edition = A waste of money.
+A.I. Comments At least it looks cool
+A.I. Comments At least it looks cool
Not really. That’s what makes it more valuable than aftermarket ones
My prediction and i hope im wrong is that no one builds a card lower then 699.
What a waste. I love blower style fans but I will never pay for it more then 3rd party cards that pushes the card to it's full potential.
I got feeling that 3rd party companies are going to abuse it by selling it more then Founders Edition as excuses its "Better" rather then MSRP
"
+SIedgeHammer83 Can't you just get a card from Asus or whomever at launch before they've customized? Should be the same design with a different name on it at that point. Or do I misunderstand?
It doesn't matter for shit. It's a "collector's" edition.
+Damaruth Exactly ! collectors pre order special edition but same game
can't wait to see the results. XD really wondering how much of an improvement the 1080 is over my amp! extreme that already shits on titans.
Founders Edition = Ripoff Edition huh ?
+club4ghz ehhh, they are doing a great thing by not undercutting their partners by making it cheaper than everyone else so its understandable.
+Thomas Green I'll bet it still won't work. Super Enthusiasts will spring for the Founder's Edition...not to mention the only standardized design for custom coolers. The watercooling manufacturers aren't going to build 100 different blocks for each card, as that would be too costly.
1060? sli ?
+Philippe van Heek
No rumors on 1060, and up to 2x SLi with 1080, and rumors have it, same with 1070.
+FirstDragonSlayer Gonna be impossible to 3-way SLI these cards since the new SLI bridge uses both connectors.
+Philippe van Heek No other information on any other cards than the 1070 and 1080 out there, and EVGA already confirmed that SLI for 1070s and 1080s will only be supported for up to two cards.
+Philippe van Heek The 960 came out 4 months after the 970/980, it might be some time.
Damn 12 min video and still confused...jeez
+samgraves2 how can you still be confused? i think everything was well explained.
+samgraves2
Founders edition = reference card made by Nvidia themselves
Normal 1080/1070 = cards made by other manufacturers like EVGA, Asus, Gigabyte etc etc
Its the same card, only difference is there made by different people
+samgraves2 same
+nich0las oh ok thnx 4 explanation
I like what it does structurally to the market. It is also helpful for them if they want to build a more normal retail presence.
The price being so high not only keeps them from competing with their customers (the board manufacturers), but it means they don't have to worry about dealing with the infrastructure needed to be moving a gazillion retail units.
oh- but I really don't like the Founders Edition branding. I understand wanting to move away from "Reference", but who do they think they are? a graphics card is no Tesla.
It is the new *NVIDIA Tax*, got it.
