Thank you very much. You will probably enjoy my next video. It’s about Botox but I go into detail about the racial/ancestry differences in brow bones, brow positions, and eye shapes.
I'm mixed and my grandmother is Norwegian. I have hooded eyes and my youngest brother seems to have an epicanthic fold . I noticed that upper eyelid creases aren't so common among people of Norwegian descent so I was curious to know why. Thanks for the information!
I know this is late but epicanthic folds or Asian like eyes are actually a lot more common among people with Scandinavian/Norwegian ancestry than in other European populations! Look at the Sami people for example. The reason for this is that Scandinavians/northern Europeans have more recent East Asian admixture especially Finnish people. So because of greater East Asian admixture than other Europeans, some Scandinavians can have epicanthic folds etc because of those East Asian genes being passed down. Also Polish people tend to have higher amounts of East Asian admixture than other European groups. Also what are you mixed with? Epicanthic folds are very common among Native Americans and also certain groups of Africans. I’m like 6% Mexican and 20% Eastern European, 5% Italian and like 69% British and Irish and I have epicanthic folds and very often get mistaken as half East Asian despite zero East Asian and no Northern European. So I could’ve inherited my epicanthic folds from my smaller native ancestry, or sometimes it just happens in white people with no Asian admixture.
I have khoisan heritage and I have an epicanthic fold and an eyelid crease. I've always wondered how it came to be since I'm also a part of a new age race in South Africa called the "coloured" race which born out of Apartheid, which basically was a name given to people who weren't white enough or black enough, so basically every light-skinned mixed person was given this race and segregated from white and black people, and mostly mixed within that already mixed pot of people. Now genetic studies have shown we have the highest level of mixed ancestry in the world. A make up of various African, European and Asian ancestry.
@@NaturalInjector Sometimes it refers to epicantic fold only, other times it's onlywhen it literally resembles an almond. Other people think it refers to dark eyes...
@@mahakalabhairava9950 Almond eyes just describes the shape in comparison to the other shapes. It does not mean epicanthic fold. Great question but I don’t think there are any studies on eye shape and specific geographical regions. Also Africa is extremely diverse. Southern Africans tend to have more fat around their eyelids and can have a monolid shape. I feel that a lot of northern Africans, Horn Africans, Southern Europeans, and people around the Mediterranean region (Greeks) can have a more open eye shape with less fat. This is just what I find from the years of observing peoples faces, I could not find any studies to support the findings though.
I would argue that Aquaman (forgive me i forgot his name) has a stronger arch in his brows than Jessica Alba does. I am wondering now how exactly "brow arch" is defined in research on human sexual dimorphism. Additionally, women do tend these days to exaggerate that feature by plucking certain hairs away.
Arent "almond, round and downturned" a different trait than "hooded or monolid"? Cant you have both? Isnt one an eye shape and the other is a trait of the eyelid itself?
I’ve been trying to figure out my eyeshape for a few months. It turns out that this is all complex. I think I have wide set hooded eyes with a flat brow bridge. (Black male’

@@jaferwaseem4047 Interesting that you mentioned Arabs having large eyes. I. Have found in my experience that people of Arab/Middle Easter ancestry can have very large open eyes. The Khoisan people in particular can have epicanthic folds, like East-Asians do but the majority of Sub-Saharan Africans have double eyelids. Another interesting thing is a lot of European people have hooded eye shapes.
@@NaturalInjector yeah thats what am saying it s not an european feature, also u should look into indians also they all have those double lod eyes, but arabs of northern type like turkish, some iraqis also have european small eyes
@@jaferwaseem4047 Yes I just can’t find any studies to support this. A lot of European ppl have double eyelids and don’t have hooded eyes but you’re right that a lot of them do have hooded eyes.
I don't think it's skin tissue that's causing the difference in eyes. Some Caucasians have sunken eye sockets. No East Asian has sunken eye socket. It's the bone structure that's making those differences.
Is it possible that you have other ancestries? I don’t know what you look like but a lot of times people are grouped into “black” when they have any obvious African ancestry ex: Steph Curry. If you are pretty much mono racially Sub-Saharan African, do you know if you are southern African?
I was expecting you to be walking into a minefield, but this was actually pretty objective and accurate.
