Grazie, grazie, grazie for restoring one of our old homes. Personally I would have found out where the local dump is and went directly there. Moving that stuff into the "shed" means doing a job twice and I don't think it's hygienic for you either. Your dad is so good!! Best of luck.
You’re most welcome. We couldn’t because we had some trouble organising the arrival of that dumpster. That’s why we had to do double the work. Thanks a lot!!
I have done several house clean outs - remodles. It was painful to watch you move the trash by hand to the wheelbarrow, haul it to a diff spot, dump on floor, thus make another pile of garbage...🤔 I use a 30 gal. plastic garbage can, put a large black heavy duty construction trash bag in the can, pick up the trash, put it in the can, fill bag, pull out bag, tie it shut, haul bag to the curb or a dumpster. repeat.. i only handle that crap once, where it is, then it goes out! Anyway, cool looking house, good luck to you & ur Dad! 😎
Could you use the kitchen elevator as a laundry shute? We have one and it’s handy not to take all our washing down the stairs. Liked seeing the extra footage in this collage.
Watching back again I seemed to notice a lot more. I really think turning up with everything, including the kitchen sink, was a great idea to create a convenient base to get started. I doubt any videos could really show just how much debris and work it took to clear. 👍❤
Wow. What a fantastic project. Congratulations. We look forward to watching your progress. Please consider wearing masks when dealing with these old places as well as animal droppings. It is very important for your health ❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Just found this channel. Wow, what a beautiful home you have found. Yes, much to do, but it's so well worth it. You and your Dad are not scared of work and are going to finish off with a beautiful home. Well done. ❤❤
I’m new here & can’t believe how great the interior is, that garden is a recipe for continuous workouts, looking forward to watching your progress ! You’re lucky Dad is onboard.
That's a wonderful old house. I can't wait to see it take shape. Just a suggestion, but it would be a lot easier for you if you had one of those industrial type vacuum cleaners for all that dust and spider webs.
Congratulations on achieving so much after all your hard work. I must say both you and Dan on “Escape to rural France” are my favourite channels. 🥂🍾👏👏👏
This is the fun part to watch. Mess cleared away, cobwebs gone and the fittings go in. Once you get it painted and windows all cleaned it will be a fabulous place. Wish I had as much energy as you do.
You and your Dad make a great team and are such hard, dedicated workers. You have performed an amazing transformation and the tantalising glimpses of the villa and garden are delicious. Can't wait to see more. Excellent video.😊
Usually, when there are two Kitchens, the lower is for heavy cooking (roasting, baking and boiling) then the food goes to the upper kitchen where it is finished and put into serving service before going into the dining room.
Awesome kitchen island, love the drawer system for any cabinets below counter height. Its the most efficient way of being able to use the storage space and having access to everything.👍
It's great watching all of your hard work. The villa is gradually being transformed from a dump to a potentially beautiful home. Well done you and your dad.
Wow i have found another "DAN"😁 A Cupla guys with their shirts off just Getting it Done! I look Forward to the End Result in a Year or Two! .... Very Nice Find☑☑

Hello from Arizona. New subscriber here, it's a pleasure to watch you and your father work together. The building is wonderful, I think the first look at the window doors, and I fell down the rabbit hole that is Villa Oliva. Wishing you both a Happy New Year, may it bring you both success in every project you undertake, good health and sturdy bones and muscles, happiness and prosperity. May I have one request, a neighbor planted a container in their drive. It's unsightly, I'm over looking at the signs, numbers, rust etc. Could you please refinish & paint your container for your neighborhood? Maybe a young artist might want to use it for a garden green mural. Thank You Ha, I don't know my neighbor well enough to ask them myself.
Thanks that's amazing to hear! hope you like the journey. yeah i agree, just have decided to prioritise the preservation of the villa first. But you're right, it's not such a beautiful asset to the property at this point.
A. You guys really should be wearing at least SOME PPE’s, masks at the least! I believe Hanta virus spread by rodents has been found in Italy, to say nothing of the mold. When I renovated the loft, we discovered asbestos and Black mold. Rather than drag the old carpet and junk through clean areas, we threw everything, including a very old recliner (1948 was on the tag), out the windows-3rd floor. It was quite a show here in my tiny town, but we didn’t have many other options. We were finally able to convince our next door neighbors to allow us to put a large garbage bin in their parking lot for just a few days. We didn’t get much sleep, and it wasn’t cheap-but it was worth EVERY penny!
You're living out a wonderful dream shared by many of us all over the world! God bless, protect & guide you! ALWAYS wear resperatory protection when working with mice or rat droppings. The dust from droppings carry HPS, Leptospirosis, lymphocytic choriomeningitis, plague, and typhus... some symptoms which you may not notice until later in life.❤️🙏
A lot of work, but very impressive. I'm looking forward to seeing all that ivy outside the Villa façade, to see what it really looks like. Ivy tends to be very invasive with stone, it gets into the cracks and crevices and takes over, do you think you will have much to fix on the building, or on the contrary, will you leave the ivy on the walls? I can't wait to see what your Villa will finally look like.😍👏👏👏👏
I think you should restore the elevator, seems easier to fix up the metal mechanism you have and install them back than hooking up a new (and probably less awesome) elevator in its place
Love your property, will be exciting to watch your progress. I do have one request. My twelve year old granddaughter loves to watch these restoration shows with me, I wish that you could edit out the swear words🥰.
You could use whatever original tile you have left as a decorative border for the floor or , depending on how much you have, use it as the main and use a more recent, complimentary tile as the border, or vice versa!
your doing a fantastic ,but it seem your making the job of doing the garden look so much hard work, try getting a petrol strimmer ,you will whizz threw it in no time ,good luck ,i'll keep watching your progress
I have to agree, looks like everything is going to the creek and I don’t think in any world that is acceptable. Please tell us what your plan for toilet sewage is. Cheryl from MN.
I am enjoying watching your hard work and the progress on your awesome renovation. House has some really cool architectural features- like the arched ceilings!! One issue I am experiencing- some of the music- example @ 45:04 that flip flop flip flop? /Sponge Bob Sponge Bob?..or whatever that "voice" is saying- or not saying is so irritating and distracting (to me at least). Just some better music would go a long way- and there are loads of free music sources to pick from that I think would benefit. Just my 2 cents- no big deal overall A+. Thanks! Great work!
Thanks, it's so hard to pick music everyone likes. However, I switched genre and think I've found something, implemented in the latest videos. Let me know if you like it
Me too! Every time I edit these video's I can see all the little adventures we're already come across. It is just as I said in the very first episode, time flies and you quickly forget all the amazing things you've done. Glad you can appreciate it! Little by little I am getting to know more about them, I will include it in a video at some point.
That kitchen would have needed a much better cleaning for me. Walls, etc. and holes filled and painted. Window sills fixed before I brought any furniture into the room. Do you not need plumber and electricians in there after it sat so long?
What a great Dad you have!
Definitely keep the dumbwaiter chute for dirty laundry from the upper floor! You will soon be sick of carting stuff up and down stairs.😀
Same thoughts I had, use it as a laundry shoot
Wow, the basement ceiling is absolutely gorgeous.
Yes The ceiling is nice . The house is in too bad condition considering it been abandoned
@@annbarns652 You mean 'not too bad'?

The basement is greatly improved!
That dusty centipede carefully navigating its way among small heaps of debris is like a symbol of all your clearing efforts.

your video channel is growing very quickly - great. No wonder, because you do good and hard work in this old and beautiful building and garden.

Did you hold onto those bed frames? They could be really great for a guest room. Very vintage chic.
With all that dust and dirt flying around, you really should be wearing a mask and goggles. Is the older gentleman your father ?
My thoughts exactly
I agree. We should’ve. And yes he is :)
Yes! And also should be wearing tshirts,

In the US it's called a dumb waiter. To deliver food or other things from floor to floor. Used when they had servants

You could put a Fireman`s pole in the Dumb waiter.
(just for giggles) You have a beautiful dad and the
both of you have done a wonderful job.
hahaha yeah that'd be super cool. Thanks!!
What great work bench
That wheel is a cool antique!
You have done a lot of clearing. Like the idea of wine cellar there.

I think you should restore the elevator, seems easier to fix up the metal mechanism you have and install them back than hooking up a new (and probably less awesome) elevator in its place
Cool with the dumb waiter! That's something to restore! It's for food.
congrats , done with care and love
Good luck for your ambitious project 🤞👍
Houd aub de tegels. Ben nog maar met 2e video bezig maar dir tegels. ❤❤❤❤❤
Siete tutti veramente bravissimi e laboriosi, alla fine avrete una bellissima villa di gran valore monetario ed emozionale. 👍😃✌️🥰💐
Thank you so much!
Might be a good idea to test the water before drinking.
Did that, but good thinking!
Happy to hear that you won’t be getting sick😀
My wife and I, this is our dream!
that's great to hear, I think it is amazing opportunity and experience as well! glad you like it
Maravilla de villa me encantaría conservar tal como fue en su epoca
Sim, muito linda será uma pena se eles destruírem as coisas antigas que ainda estão bem conservadas, o chão por exemplo .
Great job Sam , but I think in the previous comment about some decent tools as the comment suggests. Best of luck .
Thanks!
Look forward to watching the progress. Probably should have worn mask on some of that cleaning! A cat will take care of mice problem 😮
that's great to hear! yeah we should've, i agree.
The small steel door looks like a way of cleaning the chimneys.
definitely! good one
Food hatch would come in hardly here as a lift to bedroom (disabled) or heavy stuff going upstairs like your materials for decorating etc.
Please wear masks when dealing with rodent dirt - you can get some nasty diseases. You are doing an amazing job.
you're right, we should wear them more often. Thanks!
That,to me, seemed to be a happy busy home.

I've just subscribed. Love your home.
I'm Italian . Good luck with all your hard work.I'm finding the music very annoying though.😢
welcome! glad to have you here! sorry to hear that, it will get better towards the newer videos though :)
You could use the dumb waiter as a laundry chute. No carrying clothes up and down the steps.
haha fun idea. I will think about it!
I would put in a new dumb waiter to take luggage and smaller things up and down
Sink or work space in front of window. Don’t forget about the kitchen triangle for efficiency.
sorry didn't quite get that, what do you mean with triangle of efficiency.
Good job.
Restore the basement flooring to the original- much more character than the new modern tiles!
agree! only downside is that they've probably destroyed a good part of it while putting in the radiators
You could use whatever original tile you have left as a decorative border for the floor or , depending on how much you have, use it as the main and use a more recent, complimentary tile as the border, or vice versa!
A dumbwaiter can be a wonderful part of a multi-story home.
definitely, it adds so much charm. we are definitely are going to keep it

Thanks! and you're right, I would be easier, but this way I don't have to go to the gym or work out any more ;). Thanks again!
Give the walls a coat watered down PVA and then a coat of cheap emulsion it will keep the dust down.
Good idea, I’ve been thinking about that as well, thanks!
I have to agree, looks like everything is going to the creek and I don’t think in any world that is acceptable. Please tell us what your plan for toilet sewage is. Cheryl from MN.
Hi Cheryl, for now we have a chemical toilet. The design for a septic system will follow later
An air compressor would be good for blowing out dust/dirt.
Also, you can send things to the upper floors that are too heavy to carry.
