What a wonderful and glorious adventure you are undertaking. Your dad is delightful and knowledgeable. All your hard work is evident and you are certainly fortunate to have willing and capable good friends to help you. Good job all!
I especially liked the last part where you got that wretched plant off the wall. It looks like ivy and if left alone will eventually destroy your beautiful villa.
I KNEW the garden sheds would be absolutely lovely and am delighted you got a giant trash bin to haul all the stuff away--rats and mice and snakes and spiders--oh my! Now on to the jungle before it tears up all the outside walls of the Villa and small out buildings. Lovely.
What I am missing here is heart & poetry. We just see some "wild" Dutch working working working... and indeed you are doing an incredible work! But you have an amazingly beautiful Villa of the nineteenth century in Piedmond, which is probably the most sober and elegant region in Italy, and you don't spend time to tell us about it. What struck you of this place and what made you fell in love with it. I know the Villa, I was living quite near there, I recognised the other places you visited: the Harbour, the splendid liberty hotel on the lake, etc etc... and you don't give us any information? Your project has no heart and love. Remember old noble villas have their memories and energy: they will give you back the very same when you don't treat them with the due respect. I hope you will change this attitude n become friend with the Villa, adding your hearts. So that we, Watchers, will participate with more enthusiasm to your project. For the moment I am unsubscribing. It's hurting to see this "barbarian" attitude!
The pipe system that belongs to the villa remains a mystery as to how they run. If they have been found, the question is whether they are still intact. I wish you the best of luck with this tube soap
again, just switching off and up you pop. staying up to watch. love seeing you and your dad working together, it reminds me so much of my darling hubby and dad when they used to work together. sadly i lost my hubby to cancer 3yrs ago
You are doing such a good job cleaning up that outside jungle! Everything you’re doing is amazing. I myself would have a hard time getting rid of some of that wood. It has gotten so expensive. Those cracks were probably caused by all those vines you love., yes, they can cause structural problems.
Here in Ohio we have a machine called a Bush hog It's like a big lawnmower that just chops trees and everything up. Should try and Rent one of those make it a lot easier.🍻
Your friends are excellent workers just like you and your wife. Great work ethics. Your villa will be beautiful. I've just subscribed and look forward to following in your exciting journey. From Port St Lucie, Florida US😎
Wet bricks, stones & concrete culverts, etc... thoroughly before cementing them together. This keeps them from drawing water from fresh concrete mix giving you a stronger, longer lasting bond. ❤️🙏
Who needs a gym when you and your friends work so hard looks like it was fun not many people can say they found a car buried in their garden good luck with the rest. Ann 🏴
@@Villa_Oliva They don't bury their roots in the wall, those roots just stick to the surface. Some people think they need to come off but others think they actually protect the wall from the weather.
Of course, in the end, the decision is yours. But, it is the vine growing on the wall that is tearing it apart. Take it all down and later, when you are looking for something to do, :-) you can mount some simple Latus and grow it again. Then as time goes by and it becomes unmanageable again, or you need to work on the wall, you can lower it do your trimming or repair.
Bee hives! You could start an Apiary, and it would help your crops and your neighbourhood, too! My campus put a few beehives on one building's roof at University of Toronto, Mississauga campus... great results! But please pasteurize!
What a job! Makes me wonder the circumstances that lead to the abandonment of this property. Maybe it was a second home/vacation home, and the family just couldn’t take care of it? Anyway, it’s great to see it being unearthed. Wishing you continued success with this project!
I love what you are doing there, and am so interested that I found the location of the villa on Google Earth. I'm still wondering why you aren't driving the van all the way up the driveway to the door of the villa? It looks like maybe you'd need to clear a bit of topsoil, but that must be easer than dragging all the equipment up the driveway? Regardless, keep up the good work! Thanks!
Great video your packing skills are excellent you couldn’t ask for better friends it’s amazing how much rubbish people leave. I think with a little more effort you might have got the car started 😂😂😂. Ann 🏴😊
Some more advice for Ohio I have a finger it's called a blower You plug it in and has very large wheel that blows air out of tube door you can blow all your leaves and all your dust and dirt out . I use it to blow out my gutters I use it to blow the leaves I used to blow the front porch dust off it works great they're like $50 here.🍻🍻
The bulk of the fill must be rubble from war /2 Did they even have journey plummers ( not) or pipes Pretty s etchy We built our whole house plus barn with loft I admire your attitude….I’m your first Best fan!
The prior owners were so trashy I cannot believe the house was in good condition compared to the yard , the neighbors were probably very happy when the weeds took over the yard !! From Indianapolis, Indiana USA
I still think you should remove all plants from the exterior walls. They are just deteriorating the structure of the walls and the sooner you do that, the sooner it will stop. Fixing and painting the walls will make them look pretty for many years to come. 🇨🇦
it's been six days so maybe you have them by now, but seems you need a leaf rake for the vegetation and a hard rake for moving the dirt and rocks. ..interesting how the mundane projects are mesmerizing.
The first thing I did when I bought my old house was built a fire pit out back to burn all the wood. Then I stacked up all the copper and all the steel and recycled it And made money.🍻
I would go thru and spray foam and close up every hole In that house..The mice or rats could come thru the rain system u cleaned out with the diapers and stuff..If u take a day and go thru and close up every wall with mix and spray foam u will close there entry way..😮
I don't understand why you are repairing a system which over time may break down again in different places. If I was you I would just dig new trenches and connect new pipes from the villa wall to the river. At the same time install a sprinkler system. All you need is to contract or rent a small digger. You can also tear up some roots rocks and other crap. This would free up more time to work on what's important. The inside of the villa. But then that's me who fixed up a house in 3 yrs by myself At 40 yrs old. Now I'm 65 and still can work my ass off.
I would have had a bucket or some kind of container in that hole and filled it with your trowel and each time emptied the bucket……… must of taken you ages up and down with a small trowel 🫣
That ivy is an invasive plant. The trees its attached itself to are all but dead. You may as well take them down now. The size of those fronds tells me it has already invaded the trunks.😢
At least you’ve got one thing in abundance and that’s youth and energy 👏👏
What a wonderful and glorious adventure you are undertaking. Your dad is delightful and knowledgeable. All your hard work is evident and you are certainly fortunate to have willing and capable good friends to help you. Good job all!
The hooks were used to hang prosciutto, sausage and the like for drying and preserving. Love this so much ❤
They also work well when your "help" get out of line! ❤️🙏
hahahah😂

C’est fou le nombre de containers et de déchets que vous avez enlevé depuis le début, vous méritez La Croix du mérite !!! ❤❤❤
Anyone who has renovated a home that has IVY knows your pain. That stuff kills trees, plants and stucco!. Nice recap. Hope you have a good weekend.
Great job cleaning up and what great friends you have to help. Thanks for sharing. All the best from 🇨🇦

Leaky pipes bring roots , not good for keeping pipes open
Great cleaning 🧼

hahah, that's true!
You need to get rid of all those plants off the wall, with time they will bury their roots on the wall and destroy it.
gotcha
@@Villa_Oliva They don't bury their roots in the wall, those roots just stick to the surface. Some people think they need to come off but others think they actually protect the wall from the weather.
@@christinephizacklea1218 they 100% crack the mortar and cause the wall to start crumbling they do need to come off the wall

People die and for some silly reason their offsprings prefer to live in apartments in cities. Yuk. This will be paradise once finished.

Thanks a million, will try to see when I have time to drink one ;). But really, thanks a lot!
Be careful not to get burn out, restoration takes a long time.

Get some goats in lad !!!
Maybe at some point we will, do they like bramble though? we've got tuns of that stuff
Lots of fire wood
Nice car, Just add wheels)
1:03:35 what knife are you using? It cut this stem like it was made of paper. Nice progress on cleaning by the way. 👍👍👍
keeping it sharp is the key, can't recall the brand by heart. thanks!
Line for clothes. The horn is probably to hold the clothespins. Just a thought.
Die buizen zijn niet voor niets kapot,ze zijn van steen/beton en poreus dus wortels van planten dringen naar binnen. Die veroorzaken ook verstopping.
It's so sad when you get old you just start throwing your garbage out your door.😢😢
I watching canada
FF een spanband om die ton, hoe moeilijk is dat (om te bedenken).
you need power tools to get rid of that greenery. Little bobcat with a mulching tool would do a job in one day

Wondering how long the villa has been unoccupied.❤️🙏
still unclear, but some years for sure
If you had the right equipment you would have clean that yard super fast.

Is that mechanism in the wall possibly the old dumb waiter?
it is! we are going to restore it later
what does the pipe do. Is it just drainage from the house. Or is it your septic tank.🍻 Place is going to look nice when you get it done.🍻

Could you not create a burn pit and burn what you can?
Hay que mojar o humedecer la superficie sobre la que se plican capas finas de hormigón
You’re right, will do that next time!
Need a small digger for that area. If you can learn to use it - it would decrease your workload tremendously.
Wonder why you don´t have a telescopic grass cutter machine...
Have you cleaned out the drive way? Would be easier to drive up closer to the house unload.😊
You'll see soon that that is not as easy as it would appear.
I would have burned a lot of that wood. Not sure if your area allows it.
where are you in italy? my paternal grandmother's name was oliva. they lived in the avellino, atripalda area before immigrating to the u.s.
That's awesome! We are in Piemonte, so I guess they were a bit too much to the south for it to be the same family, but you never know!
thanks. i imagine the name 'Oliva' is pretty common in italy, as is my last name, 'DelGiudice', which ls rarer in the u.s.@@Villa_Oliva
