Amazing what you both manager to get done in a year! You’ve worked very hard an archieven a lot.contrast to that. It is a beautiful setting and your Borgo will be e real “little peace of heaven “ by the time you finished. Especially when all the plants, trees will grow bigger and you will have a lust garden. I wish you all the best , a lovely Home.
It’s wonderful how these abandoned dwellings once more are brought to life. Though that underfloor heating always gives me major anxiety/ it only takes one small break in the pipe for the whole floor to be ruined.😳
We don’t do the „classic” floor heating. We will use underfloor heating mats ❤️ we will install them very soon so I guess you will be able to see them in next episode
I love that you mimicked the look and footprint of the building that was there originally. All of the stone work looks wonderful. Im super impressed at your attention to detail.
As an Italian I thank people like you who go to repopulate the 'Borghi' and I congratulate you on the work done (even if what you did is pretty normal for me). Are you planning to do a bed & breakfast?

Hey guys 🙋♀️ New sub here! Came across this video last week and it intrigued me so much that I had to go back to the beginning and watch! 🥰 Soooo cool! 😍 All the best for 2024! 💖 Watching from New Zealand! 🖤🤍
The recreation of the house is so beautifully and thoughtfully done; but I especially love your 'Hadrian's Wall' mark I I 😁. I hope all your other renovations go well. Best of luck! 💝
Congrats for the massive effort and persistence. However, I am not sure I share some of your choices. You demolished a stone building and rebuilt in cement and modern bricks in rather different forms. At least you "hid" it with face stones, but wasn't it possible to preserve the existing one? I truly hope the bigger and nicer house will be preserved through a conservation/restoration! Good luck for the rest of the journey!
Thank you for your comment. We answered for similar question several times in regular episodes. In short: only “the bigger” building is treated like a house on the whole property. The rest of the budiligs are treated like a stable, so they are not adapted to the apartment where you are able to live - we had to do that. In this case rebudilding (with the new, modern materials - because you must meet appropriate construction conditions e.g. earthquake reinforcement) was the best option. To preserve the appearance of the Tuscan-style house (this is also a requirement and we also like it), we used old stone that was dismantled from the house. The bigger house which you see on the video will be preserved through a restoration as you mentioned but we also have to use modern technologies to meet current construction conditions
@@borgobaroti thanks for the clarification and apologies if it was asked already. In my experience different architects and technicians will propose different options depending on their level of expertise in conservation and their sensitivity to historical preservation. I do think we are guardians of an ancient bulding's history rather than their exclusive owners, and it is our responsibility to pass it on to future generations in the best state possible. Often times less invasive options are available with a bit of research and effort, which would allow to keep the modern alterations to a minimum. It is about finding the right professional for the job, which can sometimes be a challenge but not impossible. So good luck with that!
@@michlblacksmith it was necessary in our opinion and it was the best choice (we and our team decided). You can always buy your property and renovate it on your own terms (slower, investing more money). @@michlblacksmith ok, you are right. The buildings with non-efficient insulation are better because later they consume much more carbon and electricity etc., which is very ecological. Many times we were spending vacations in buildings with bad insulation and ventilation (usually old buildings) and the planty of humidity and bad air there isn’t normal to leave in it healthily. In one of our episode we talk about insulation we chose and we explained why but I assume you didn’t even look there. I don't see any further need to exchange opinions. Yes, you must report all “corrections” to the city hall but this is what our ingegnere (architect) does. When making new plans for a building, he immediately reports everything where it should be. For example another building has been in the process of being planned since around February 2024 and will probably not be ready until September 2024 (plans and permits)

Nice job ! What are your plans with the rest of the buildings ? In the garden and near the entrance road you won't have any problems because uf the sun ? The stone wall and the part where you cleared the bushes probably will be heated by the sun and I am afraid that there is a danger that the soil will get scorched. It happened to me, although I live in a much more temperate climate. I also cleaned the terrain, but in the end, the sun schorched the grass. I tried constant watering and everything, but in the end I had to plant again small bushes and plants that resisted to the heat.
