Thanks for this. Just an observation: I’m starting to think that the YT algorithm has a large amount of compression to it already. On the bass, through headphones I honestly couldn’t tell the difference between on and off. But when I try things in my DAW the difference is immediate and huge.
the 5 minute uad tips are gold, im always overwhelmed with all the uad plugins i dont what to do with them or where to start, these vids point you in the right direction, please keep em coming
It's not that....the graphics look like shit if you are trying to blow them up to read more clearly on a computer screen. For something as expensive as UA plugs are, it's pretty lame.
Dbx fits best with short transients like drums IMHO. It gives that punch. For guitar I prefer 175B and for bass the 176. For vocals the 1176 and for keys the La3a.
Yay Ben, you're becoming my fav TH-cam audio engineering instructor with these tips and the Luna office hours. Yeah, it's very UAD centric but uh...so am I? Huh, guess I drank the whole glass of koolaid. Nevertheless, your demo-instruction has improved amazingly since Puremix days. Thanks!
I’m pretty sure ppl who use their plugs especially the native ones are bedroom producers, it’s a shame they only ever seem to show these plugins with acoustic instruments. Why not demo them being used on soft synths and hardware synths

Yes this and the LA-3A REALLY need a GUI upgrade this year UA, for free
No absolutely not, the DBX160 just isn't visible on my 4k screen unlike pretty much every other plugin

Update the GUI

Great video and plugin!!
A plugin shouldn't require a magnifying glass to use it. MkII pls and GUI update for the legacy.
After 5byeara they still didn't do mk2! I don't think they will. So... Good bye UAD - hello Acustica 😊
@@timsamsung3736idk about DSP but the native versions have full gui scaling. All my UAD spark plugs look gorgeous at max scaling.

Thank you for this video! I liek to use dbx 160 on guitars in my mixes
👍
What is that control surface?
It's a Digidesign ICON.
@@UniversalAudio I'll trade you this apple core for it?

👍
Why is the output not on 0 in its default state? Just curious.
April 2021: PLEASE upgrade the UI to support Retina. It’s terrible to work with on Mac displays.
It's coming!
is there a 165a plugin? maybe with a W/D function?
I would want a good 165A plugin too. For now i think only Arturia has it.
was thinking about but then i listened to analog Obsession version.

The drum recording sounds muffled.
