Thank you very much for such a lucid presentation.Want to know in what dose do we use aspirin or any other antiplatelet agent in subclavian artery stenosis? Also do we have it in diabetics and in CKD patients?
Hi sir i am 25 years old girl suffering from Familial Hypercholestrolemia homozygous and i had open heart surgery to replace aortic valve and to enlarge aortic root. Also got three stents in my right and left coronary arteries. But despite of all this my symptoms of severe drowsiness, blurred vision, confusion, trembling fingers, extreme fatigue, loss of consciousness feel like going to faint and i also face shortness of breath on doing little bit walking. In echocardiography report, they have written that i am having severe stenosis and narrowing in proximal right subclavian artery with 4.5 m/s velocity and 82 peak gradient and 52 mean gradient. While my cardiologist is saying that the picture taken by sonographer are not showing any narrowing and should come for stress echo test for second time. I am reluctant to go for 2nd stress echo because they did it few moments back but couldn’t gave me any findings. I don’t trust my cardiologist and her team anymore. Now I think they are ignoring my subclavian issue and just beating the bush. From past 10 months they are not able to detect actual cause and when i request them to investigate the matter they have only one thing Stress echo test and when i ask about high velocity and gradient in subclavian, cardiologist says only one thing that i am not sure that you are having any blockage or not . Like after 10 months still they are not sure even they did many blunders in my echo reports first they said blockage is in left subclavian but interventional cardiologist couldn’t find any blockage in left subclavian then later on told that it is in right one and now denying again. My question is what may be the cause of High velocity and high gradient in proximal right subclavian artery if I don’t have any stenosis? Do you think one may have such alarming numbers without any stenosis or blockages? I hope you will guide me . I shall be greatful to you forever.
Sorry to hear about your very complicated course. You can imagine I cannot answer your question without delving into the actual data. You will have to find a local vascular physician to review this. Sorry and all the best.
I’m not a doctor but I’m also struggling with this issue. You can do an ct angiogram with dye to find out how much percentage is blocked. Most probably it’s almost 70%. They can do stent or surgery. Reduce your tension and anxiety. It can cause more problems. If it is below 70, then it can mange with meditation. Reduce the cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels. You shall be healed.
I just discovered i have approximately 80% blockage in left subclavian artery. No symptoms zero i had cat scan with contrast. Bp differs from one arm to other only top # difference of 7-15 points . Bottom #’s equal I am 69 yrs old
Such incidental findings are common. Whether to treat with a procedure or only medication is a patient-by-patient decision. I would consult with your doctor and best would be with a vascular specialist.
Yes thats the plan . I’m just wondering if my coronary arteries have blockage now my carotic arteries are clear but I just turned 69. Going for a stress test 10 days
Excellent! I shared this with all our medical assistants are asked to take blood pressures in both arms.
Awesome! Thank you so much. I am sure you will gain benefit from this at very little effort.
Always good contente for us. Thx Ido
