  • Yes, in their storied history, the Knicks have won a total of 2 championships. They haven’t won a championship in 50 years. For a decade of my existence, the Knicks Trott out some of the worst teams in the history of the game. Not just in result, but in shear foundation and structure. When I saw Steve Francis, Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford, and Penny Hardaway on the same roster, I just knew some billionaire somewhere was holding the franchise hostage, gun to head telling them to make the moves they made from 2000-2010. In the first year of those guys together, they won a total of 23 games. 4 former all stars in Penny, Franchise, Lee, and Marbury. A powerful state, yet with all that power of superstar attraction and and media capital of the world, their professional basketball team has went to a total of 2 NBA playoffs from 2000-2010. Side note, since the 2000s 5 appearances in 23 years. If you ask just about anyone not watching basketball in 1970 or 1973, the Knicks have always been disappointing. Their fans make it seems different, but they’ve never been good in your life if you’re 49 and under. But from 2000-2010, stands out as the worst I can remember, why was that? 50 years since their last chip. When do you see the Knicks winning it all again. imo may not be for another 20-30 years. They need to get lucky and draft a HOF player, because don't see any top free agent going there no time soon.

I agree JC another 20-30 yrs in all likelihood, they came close in 94 and semi close in what 99 against Tim Duncan and the Spurs?? And ain't been relevant since, but HOFers like Ewing, who you could build around don't just pop outta nowhere.

The Knicks are a storied franchise because they were one of the original NBA teams. Plus NY had the first Black player to sign to play in the league in Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton. They are also they the first team to have a Black team captain in sports history. His name was Willie Naulls. Add in the "World's Most Famous Arena", and you got it.

Ya i agree, it’s more then obvious that the main disservice to this team has been the owner above all. He’s been at the helm of one of the worst run organizations in the entire league the last 2 decades, which is one thing in itself but for it to be in a city like New York is a slap in the face. NY deserves so much better man

He ran that team into the ground. The difference between the awfulness of the 2000s Knicks rosters and the 2010s Knicks rosters was that they ACTIVELY went well over the cap to put a terrible team together on the floor. Like how the hell do you do that for so long?

  • @elmayimbe_the_amateur_mechanic

Bad contracts. Jerome James being the biggest one. Alan Houston robbing us by retiring early after that 100M contract. Bargnani deal...terrible. Tim Hardaway's 2nd contract here...terrible. Marbury and Francis in the same backcourt when there is only 1 ball to go around. I felt so bad for Jamal Crawford on these teams. Renaldo Balkman?! We had Nene and let him go and he got good. Ariza we should have kept too.

    • @Brhoward31

I feel bad for both Jamal Crawford and David Lee (who was like their best big man since Pat until Amar'e's arrival, and who's prime is honestly very underrated) who were practically the only dudes relevant on those teams. You can pretty much say that Isiah Thomas never stopped being a Piston lmao 😂.
Isiah gave Jerome James, a dude who averaged 4 points a game in his entire career, a freaking 5 year contract. Funny thing is that he repeated it again, giving Jared Jeffries the same deal in 2007. He also dealt away 2 draft picks that would turn into LaMarcus Aldridge and Joakim Noah for Eddy fucking Curry.
Also not to mention the fact that Allan Houston made the situation even worse by retiring in the middle of the $100 million deal he signed.
Speaking of bad GMs, I really would love you to do a video on the Bobcats/Hornets. The GOAT player being the worse GM in the league is just crazy.

The Knicks wasn't much better 2010 to 2020 either. No.1 stunt is they didn't draft well the past 20 plus years. An example of that in the 17 draft they took Frank Ntilikina. Who they could've that was drafted behind him Donovan Mitchell, Bam Adebayo, Jarrett Allen, Kyle Kumza or Derrick White. They only landed 3 big free agents in free agency the past 20 plus years Jalen Brunson, Juluis Randle and Amar'e Stoudemire
. Amar'e Stoudemire first season as a Knick was good he made the all team but was on the decline quickly after that due to injuries. They gave up too much for Carmelo. They gave Iisah Thomas and Phil Jackson too much power of the franchise. They made poor decisions that held the Knicks back for years. Fans support horrible ownership by continuing to pay high ticket prices even though the Knicks wasn't good majority of the time. You can't fault Spike for being a die hard fan and buying expensive season tickets.

My father always told me they gave up on Mike Woodson - at which point I remember when JR smith was running around in a makeshift batmobile, and I sadly agreed with him smdh. It's a real shame, too, bc I love the city.

People get confused because big market teams are usually big market teams because their team is successful so the Knicks being the legit biggest market usually makes people lump them in with LA and Boston. But The Knicks are not the biggest market in the NBA because of The New York Knicks basketball team. New York is a highly populated place for one thing. and also New York is just a basketball city maybe more so than any other. New Yorker's love to play and watch basketball. You look at the Rucker tournament. That started off as just a small Harlem game with local guys from the area. Next thing you know they made it so meaningful, NBA stars are coming to play in it. So you have a big city full of people, and those people hold the game of basketball in such high esteem. That basically means that even if New York lose they're still selling out every game, the games will always be heavily televised and the merch will still fly off the shelves, regardless of their lack of success.

As a diehard Knicks fan (since 1990), this video TRIGGERED me!
First off, Michael "the referee's pet" Jordan, should not have been given a chip in '92.
(Check game 7 of the EC semis. Every time he was touched, the refs blew their whistles.)
In '93, of the ECF, game 5, all of that swiping by MJ at Charles Smith, yet no foul called?!
(We all know had that been MJ with the ball, EVERY REF WOULD HAVE BLOWN THEIR WHISTLES!)
And finally, in '97 or '98, the infamous push-off of Bryon Russell by MJ, led to the go ahead game winner!
(Refs don't see shit most times whenever MJ commits violations/fouls.) #FUCKMJ

Jordan - 7 maybe 8 (at the most)... 90's Knicks made them fight for their wins!!! Also half of the Eastern Conference!!!
But I have to admit; Air Jordan & Co is how you build a team... Chef is another example; The Dream; Big Fundamental...
We have it bad when our best pick is Ewing (knees)

Just ANOTHER hit piece on Isiah Thomas. "Thomas posted an overall winning percentage of .341 as head coach of the Knicks, fifth lowest in team history." Who are the other four? Try doing a video onTHIS dude:
"In 2014, Phil Jackson was in discussions for months with the New York Knicks regarding an executive position with the team.[31] On March 18, he was introduced as the president of the Knicks after signing a five-year, $60 million contract.[32][33]
On April 21, 2014, over one week after the conclusion of the season, Mike Woodson and his entire staff were fired by Jackson.[34] The Knicks finished the season with a 37-45 record and finished 9th in the Eastern Conference standings.
On June 9, 2014, the Knicks hired Derek Fisher as the head coach. Fisher played under Phil Jackson as a Laker and won five championships together.
On June 25, 2014, the Knicks traded guard Raymond Felton along with former NBA Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler to the Dallas Mavericks. In return, the Knicks received Shane Larkin, José Calderón, Samuel Dalembert, and Wayne Ellington along with two picks for the following day's draft. The trade was the first one that he executed as a front office executive. On June 26, as part of the 2014 NBA draft, the Knicks selected Cleanthony Early as the 34th overall pick and Thanasis Antetokounmpo as the 51st overall pick, using the draft picks received in the trade from the Mavericks. The Knicks also acquired Louis Labeyrie, an additional second-round draft pick, after he was traded by the Pacers.
On January 7, 2015, the Knicks set a franchise record with 13 straight losses. The Knicks fell 101-91 to the Washington Wizards, giving New York its longest losing streak in the franchise's 69-year history.[35] This record was extended to 16 straight losses after the NBA Global Games loss against the Milwaukee Bucks in London. They ended the season with a franchise-worst record of 17-65."
