THROW IT IN THE BIN.. Darwin Budget Camping | CARAVAN UPGRADES
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 5 ก.ค. 2024
- Welcome back to another video! This week we are exploring Darwin and preparing the caravan for the Gibb River Road.
We stay at the Robbie Robins reserve near berrimah, Central to darwin and get stuck into some upgrades first up is a dual jerry can holder before heading off to the mindil markets for sunset and some dinner.
Disaster strikes when Bryce buys a induction cooktop and chelsea zaps a new loaf of bread in the microwave.. we explore the Nightcliff foreshore and drive to the darwin waterfront for a look around and swim.
An airfryer in our caravan is a must so we install a Breville Smart oven Airfryer again and make sure to secure it down properly this time. The aviation museum is a must do in darwin full of awesome planes and displays.
Bryce gets stuck into a job under the van to protect all of the pipes under the caravan with pipe lagging to make sure its all protected.

The two of you are enjoying life so much. Getting my Sunday morning dose of Bryce'n'Chelsea
Thanks so much Allan! 👍 🍻
I was born in Darwin in December 1954, mum flew in from mistake Creek station, allways love the Aussie bush 😊
🥰👍🏽
Absolutely love watching your episodes. I had missed the last couple of weeks with having to move to Melbourne for another tunnel. Jealous much. Hope all 3 of yas have a crackin time on the Gibb trip 😍😍🥰
Wow thank you so much!
We really appreciate the support 🙌🏼🥰
Biggest tease in the world are northern Australian beaches. Beautiful weather, beautiful beaches yet no swimming!
Yes agree for sure!
Now I have to get an air fryer! I wasn’t sure how to secure it in my microwave space, now I know. Thanks guys. Love watching you!
So glad this was of value to you 🥰👍🏽
Your practical approach to Darwin budget camping and caravan upgrades is commendable. Your resourcefulness in finding joy and comfort in simple pleasures reflects a true appreciation for the adventure of life on the road. And I am a floating village life from Vietnam.
Hey thanks so much for watching and commenting 🥰👍🏽
Thanks for the great videos. Chris and Diana
Thank you so much Diana!

I worked on the aircraft, you said, "It's just cool looking around at everything". The mighty AP3C Orion. Has far bit of history in Darwin. I was deployed to Darwin around 15 odd times. It was operating in Darwin for op resolute for boarder protection. (Up to 2017) It has now been replaced by the P8. Sorry boring anyone who's.readimg this 😅
Oh really! Very interesting 😃👍🏽
Thanks for watching
Hey Guys. Love your videos, you always share so much informative info. Yes, loved you showing the install, and yes we will be buying a breville air fryer…….when we eventually buy our van. Thanks again for an awesome video! Xx
@@CraftyAliConfessions thanks heaps for watching! 🥰👍🏽
Hi guys, thanks for the wonderful video this week. I really enjoy the contest. I worked in jamboree in 1979 at Ranger uranium mining camp. I was the one, and only Baker. We had 3 1/2 thousand men and only eight women at the camp. The women used to have to get locked up at night with alarm guard like going to jail every night. Can’t wait to get back up to Darwin again. Have a good look around specially, that night market like you said, I think the Webbers are the best barbecues around you can bake anything in a bread is fantastic. Nice and crusty. Keep up the good work. Love and appreciate your boat from Logan City Queensland Australia
Thanks
Hey thanks so much 🙌🏼🤩 we really appreciate it!
Love your content makes my Sundays
those kind of memories will last a life time

Loving that you’re both loving and living the life. 🥰

Airfryer is such a good idea courtney!
Chelsea lol
Lived 4 yrs in Darwin till 1994. There was a croc out front of the Nightcliffe Sailing Club. One was walking down the road at The Royal Darwin Hospital. Will never go in the water, due to Box Jell fish. Mendel beach market is great. And the Parap market.
Oh wow! Everything out to get you in the ocean there haha
Great video guys as always, love Darwin expecially mindl market 😎😎
@@desgay7737 thank you!
Yes how cool is Darwin
I have been looking at this exact air fryer and now you have rated it I feel more comfortable now its a good option.
👍🏽👍🏽 yes it’s our second one and we love it
Another great video guys. Sitting back on a sunday arvo watching it with a stubby in hand. 🍻
Thanks mate! 🍻🍻
We loved Robbie Robins Reserve as well but I hated that road noise, l liked it when we got to move up the top next to the toilets and washing machines, less noise up there, but we loved Darwin, we worked there for 6 months.
Love your videos, stay safe
Yes so noisy hey! 🙄
Thanks for watching 😃
Great show. Love your hair colour chels
Thank you! 🤗
Another great episode guys thanks for sharing we put a Breville in our van too it's a 3 in one airfry, microwave and oven 😊
Thats awesome, we've heard good things about that one! 👍
Looking forward to you on the gibb.. great ep as usual guys. Living the dream. 👌👌😝

Gibb coming up - awesome - still digging the dark hair. you could open a mobile pizza shop just stick sign on the van.
We're so excited for the Gibb! Now that's an idea, not the fastest shop going around though 😂😂 one in the air fryer and one in the weber 👍
I think a croc would call it a smorgasboader😂 fantastic idea how to fasten air fry, just like a battery. I was thinking heat rated occy strap of Temu lol
😂😂😂 thats a good one!
Exactly right just like a battery! Thanks for watching mate 👍 heat rated occy would be better than the silicone we used... 😳
I loved the mindal markets, I'm heading there again in the next year. 👍👍
They are fantastic hey!
You guys are an inspiration to watch , looking forward to your next episode.
Thank you so much 🫶🏼
The dump'n'burn was one of the best things of the F111. When they were still in service in the RAAF, the Brisbane fireworks would be opened with the F111 doing a dump'n'burn along the river over the crowds.
Great Vid .. One Day...
Nice work on your van guys. Enjoying your videos and getting to share your travels too. Have a good week. Cheers from NZ
Thanks so much!
Would love to visit NZ one day 🥰
@@CaravanAdventureAus hope you do, look us up when you do. Cheers
Thanks for keeping everything real great idea getting rid of microwave never use ours. At the end of the Gibb stay at Birdwood downs instead of Derby just. 15k out having just completed the Gibb enjoying your trip.

Just left Darwin last week and thoroughly enjoyed the Mindel markets. Highly recommend the famous Laksa, it was incredible. You’ll tell by the lineup!
Absolutely love the fixing of the Airfryer, so not super handy!!❤ Have a great week Alexandra

We have one of those Breville cookers - Most excellent.... does everything...
Thats absolutely right, so versatile too 👍
You guys are amazing, love your van and your beautiful puppy. I loved it when you went to the museum saw the F 11,wow they were so amazing when they were in RAAF Amberley. Pizza looked great Yummo 😊
Thanks so much for watching!
Looked like there was enough room to use small drawer slides, easy to clean behind and the face trim would hide them from view 19:46

Good stuff fellows , i lived there for awhile got blown out in !974 cyclone tracy went back in 1976 and left in 1977 looks like a lot has changed , we used to swim at mindel beach and out at casuarina never worried about the crocs or sharks but they were there . Stay safe 😏👍❤️
Oh wow you were there for Cyclone Tracey ? 😨
@@CaravanAdventureAus yes unfortunately but still here to talk about it and will go bak one very soon as getting old 75 so need to get myself active love your episodes so keep uo the adventures👍😏❤️
As an ex flight attendant who had many stay overs in Darwin, there is no way I would be on a SUP in any of Darwin’s waters, crocs were sunning themselves on the shores during the daytime. Wonder if they were local or a tourist, either way it’s too risky. Nice to see the sights during the dry, as the wet is season is too hot 🥵 to enjoy..
Oh wow! Glad you had the same view as us about the crocs 🐊🐊
Love your videos ❤
Thanks so much! 👍🏽😃
Again as always nice content love the channel cheers
Thanks for watching! 🥰👍🏽
Hot tip for the pizzas is to melt some 100% dripping fat over them and on the crust. It glazes it, adds flavour and makes it very yummy! We only just started doing it 😀
Yum! Thanks for the tip
Hi guys, love the content. Hope you keep us updated on the airfrier as to how it goes with the less than recommended air gap. We have one and would love to fit it as you have.
Cheers
Michelle and Graham
Will do! 👍🏽thanks for watching
Dam straight I’m interested ❤
Thanks for watching
Very strong magnets will hold any appliance except a fridge or washing machine. Easy as.
Thats an interesting way of doing it! 👍😊
love it will have to put darwin on the bucket list also theres a aviation muesum in longreach called the qantas founders muesum and theres a coral place at bundaberg where you can feed the coral
Yes we have been to the Qantas Founders before 👍🏽
@@CaravanAdventureAus theres a war bunker at possum park 20km north of miles from world war 2 an it was used as storage for the australian army its still standing to the day you can walk in it and also camp in one but double check if its dog friendly
dinner on a plate lol
😂
Another great video
Have you fitted Blinds’s on your bedroom windows in the new van looked like it.
Air fryer great idea. Our microwave is above the fridge grr
Hey! Nar they aren’t blinds just the ones which came with the caravan 👍🏽😃
I have had my air fryer for around 2 years and it great
They are awesome hey! 👌🏽
The best mod for my van also I have just received my cushion covers that you brought great fit
I would have put a piece of silicone pot mats underneath the aluminium brace and nylock nuts on the all thread ( you may have done this) but good job Bryce.
Good idea about the silicone mat, and we've used nylock nuts so they shouldn't come undone 👍 cheers for watching mate
Now i want an airfryer, my microwave is up high so might be difficult😢. Love your videos and helpful tips. Would love to see a vid of the wardrobe shelves so can get my hubby to put some in our van.
Hey Helen thanks for watching!
The shelves are easy to do. We got the board, small screws and cabinet brackets all from Bunnings. Measure and your good to go 👍🏽
If you haven't done it yet I can highly recommend the RFDS shed on the docks of Darwin harbour, cheers guy's 👍🏻
Yes thanks for the tip! 👍🏽👍🏽
Yep...................I bought a Breville oven a couple of months ago after seeing yours. lol. Why do caravan manufacturers put in microwaves instead of ovens? I'd rather an oven any day. Anyway, thanks to you guys we're loving the Breville.
It's crazy, might just be a cost thing 😕 I'd rather an oven for sure too! And especially so many people have battery systems or stay in caravan parks it's a no brainer to have one!
@@CaravanAdventureAus agreed.
i would build a draw to fit it in and when it is needed place it on the bench and stack it away when finished also for the induction cooker i would do the same thing. it would be better than than getting on your knees to do the cooking
That’s great ideas John’s 👍🏽
Loved your video. Would of loved to of caught up. We have a home sit for 8 weeks in Virginia. Absolutely loving it and loving the Darwin weather.
If your still in the area and love Asian try Chows at the waterfront.
Enjoy the house sit 🥰👍🏽
My Mum and I each have been using the Breville oven for over 2 years now, love it. I find the best oven for my home on wheels, I learnt from YoutTuber Foresty Forest, it's the Ninja Foodi, amazing, it does everything the Breville does, plus slow cook, pressure cook and steam, and the newer one does even more, t's handy if you have any frozen meat, you can cook it using a combination of pressure cook and air crisp and it comes out perfect in under 20 mins, check it out, you'll kick yourself when you see how it can do even more than the Breville and it uses less wattage too, oh and so much easier to clean and keep clean.
Thats an awesome airfryer/everything! Good that it has such a low power draw too 👍 have to look into it for next time 😊
We stay at robbie robbins when up north, as you say half the price and not bad
Yes such a good spot!
Use stainless steel cable ties for the protection around the pipes, the stones won’t break them like plastic ones, not sure how the duct tape will hold when it gets wet.
Cheers for the tip mate! So far so good nearly finished the Gibb and is holding up nicely, I'll give an update on it when we've finished 👍
You guys are hilarious 😂 love watching you! Where do you get your music from? Some of its quite catchy
Hey! Thanks so much 😃
It’s from Epidemic Sound
That's a good price for Darwin. Its like Kurumba expensive in the dry. Deserted in the wet
Yep very true!
@@CaravanAdventureAus my daughter went to Karumba in the wet and they were the only ones at the park.
Thanks for the video! We enjoy the how to portions of your videos. Is that a vent to the outside behind the air fryer?😊
Thanks for watching!
Glad we can help out 👍 and yes it is a vent behind the airfryer 😊
Love your content guys. Question: Where did you get the doublel jerrycan holder and U bolts from.
Thanks for watching mate! 🍻 it's from the 4wd depot and the u bolts were from a trailer parts shop 👍
Here a little tip get a hammer and hit the ends of the threads on your bolts ,that way they mite come loose but you won't loose your nuts on them
the combi wave 3 in 1 is a better choice then a air fryer same brand
Personally we LOVE our Smart Oven Airfryer because we didn’t want a ‘microwave’ function.
But both useful it different ways. Just depends what your style of cooking is
Go to the war museum at the East point and the Royal flying doctor museum stocks warf which is awsome
Thanks for the tips
I’m trying to remember back to your old van install of the air fryer, and I thought you had lined the space with some sort of heat protection stuff to prevent damage to the cupboards around the air fryer? Would love it if you could keep us updated on how it goes without any protection.
We never lined the cupboards with anything, just made sure to have good ventilation out the back and never had an issue 👍
We will keep you updated for sure 😊
Much love, guys!! 💖💖💖
💜💜
Should have used rubber strip under you Alu bracket i use 30mmx3mm rubber strip
If you had gotten a convection microwave the same size as the one you're removing, it too uses only hot air (no microwaves) in convection mode - thus it's an air fryer - only with more space, plus more useful as you would still have a microwave for easy fast reheating - and all in the same physical space as the original microwave.
Hey we don’t use microwaves hence why we removed it and added the airfryer 👍🏽😃
Thanks for the tip
What pizza base did you use? Next time you make one, can you film it please. It Looks great
Yes we will film next time. I think it was a very simple recipe Bryce found online
Use your largest fry pan that has a glass lid on low heat .
Thanks for the tip 👍🏽😃
Good job on oven, I would have fixed cleats to oven feet and then to bottom shelf , with over clamp frame,
Yeah a 12v computer fan would help.
As you have a Camec door with rounds on top, they are missing a rubber seal, easy diy.
Just to keep ya busy 😁

hey guys been watching you guys for ages love it but do here anything about trip in a van family havnt seen any posts for ages any hooo keep up the great vids
Hey!
Not sure sorry 😃 maybe follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Guys, my husband and I love watching you both and Juice of course. We are getting ready to go full time on the road next year with our border collie, Loki and as I'm sure you know, there is so much planning! My hubby is also a traddie and really loves watching Bryce (also his Son's name) doing his fixes and bits and pieces. After watching this episode we will be ditching our microwave for the air fryer also, we were always going to take our air fryer because I already said I'm not sure I could live without it but now we've decided we really don't need the microwave. Anyway, I do have a question after all that! I wondered how you get your post/parcels? How far ahead do you need to know your schedule and where do you get it sent to?
Thanks for the content and entertainment.
Hey thanks so much for watching!
Glad you found value with the airfryer installation 👍🏽
Regarding parcels - you can download the Aus Post App and make an account.
We just wing it and allow ample time to collect post. Apparently the post offices hold parcels for 2 weeks (but they will contact you before redirecting).
Welcome to Darwin, you chose the best time . The air fryer looks awesome. Did you dump the microwave?
Thanks! It's so much nicer inthe dry!
We managed to sell it on marketplace 👍
your Jerry can holder obstructs your number plate ... might get in trouble for that.
@@aussiewalkabout4x4 we will keep an eye on it 👍🏽
Yes, we got booked recently for that same issue. Ended up bringing the rear bar out from the van and putting jerry can holder inside of the rear bar and further away from the license plate.
I was going to messages you 2 weeks ago asking what was the airfryer you used in the last van ha ha
Well there you go! Sorted 😂 thanks for watching 👍
Great tips. What brand is the induction top plate.
Hey it’s Dune from Anaconda
Hi Guys, great video as always !! I am hoping you can let me know where you bought the dual Jerry can holder ?
Hey it’s form 4WD depot
Love you videos guys, and can I ask what you use as the base for your pizza??
We make the bases ourselves 😊 send us a message on Facebook or instagram and we can send the recipe 👍

Hey Jenny, he stays in the caravan 😃 it’s his home so he doesn’t mind when we go out
Thanks so much. That’s great to know.
No way in the name of hell I would get on a paddle board in that water
😂😂😂
Thanks Guys, great start too a Sunday watching your videos ! Darwin looks like a great place to visit. Diid you dump the microwave or plan to use it in another location. Too handy for heating food. Catch up next week . 👍👍🍻🍻
Hey thanks for watching! We sold it on Marketplace in Darwin.
We can use the airfryer on the ‘reheat’ setting 👍🏽😃
I keep my bread in the microwave and yes I cooked my bread I forgot it was in there and did not see it, as I'm a bit short could not see what was in the corner lol
Haha glad I’m not the only one
I want one of those Breville air fryers in our van but the microwave spot is in the upper cupboard area and the depth is too narrow…the oven sticks out a bit when I measured and it might be a bit unstable.😪I’m very sad 😔
Oh thats a shame! Might be a bit dangerous having the airfryer so high too, especially taking hot dishes out at head height 😳
@@CaravanAdventureAus yes but I think I’ll get one for my house.👍🏻
