Nice fabrication. You are becoming pretty handy with that lathe. Your customers may not appreciate how lucky they are that you have such a range of skills. And on top of your small engine skills, your video production skills are really good. Very clear images, good lighting, excellent storyboarding, and perfect audio. Well done!
Delighted to see you got a lathe. I somehow knew you would stop before the cutting edge would hit. The hole saw part was tricky but you did it well. Thank you very much for sharing!
This ever enlarging phenomenon of ‘parts on back order’ must hurt guys like yourself. Glad you’ve found a small way to adapt and keep your revenue streams and reputation intact.
While few viewers likely don’t have a metal lathe many probably know they need a machine shop and if they don’t they have no business removing bolt 1 and should take it for repair. Fascinating and well done as always
My son bought a briggs snowblower. Worked great the first year. He cleans the drive plate every year and nothing work. My cub cleans 10x the snow. Never an issue.
So good to see SUCH a young man touching our hearts may our Lord Jesus Christ keep you strong, healthy, courageous and prosperous to keep up the good work amen
Very interesting video Don. You are such a gifted, talented fellow. Your videos are so helpful, educational and so well done. Thanks for sharing all these with us because we are learning a lot.
I'm thinking about retrofit a friction wheel from an older model. The old type with the rubber between two plates. Easy to find the rubber and way cheaper.
Nicely done. I noticed that's an actual Honda clone engine with Briggs' name on it. It's too bad Briggs can't make a half decent engine so it had to copy a competitor's. First with Vanguard, now with a consumer unit.
It’s all about the tools and how you use them, the shop by me would have been like, it’s back ordered maybe we will get it by next winter, or I can sell you a new blower….thats why you do it yourself…
Hello Don, new subscriber here from Eastern Ontario. The friction disc failed on my Briggs and Stratton snowblower recently. I searched everywhere for one. I finally found one online from Aux Petits Moteurs Du Quebec. Part number is 771892. Cost $85.00 CDN + tax and shipping. They did still have some in stock a little while ago. Take care my friend.
grouse work Donny mate a lovely outcome there for sure and i know that,s a good money saving job on those snowblowers for sure and i know your winter/Flu season is truly well there over there and cheers from Australia 🐨🐑🦘🌴🇦🇺 or the land down under to your area in Canada Ontario 🇨🇦🍁and we shall also enjoy our Summer here too and well it,s mostly outboard motor types and well pressure washers but yeah lawn mowers and other bits of machinery can also be another too etc.
Bonsoir J’ai exactement le même problème avec ma B&S … le friction disk vient assembler avec le shaft complet mais il est. BO… 🤦🏻♂️ Aurait tu le numéro de model pour la friction wheel de Toro que tu utilise? Merci
I was just thinking the other day that auto and small engine parts are scarce and almost always on back order but there's now 100's of options to shaving. Who looked at the shaving market and said "we need more options" while neglecting the parts market?
Wow, I was expecting to see an older poor condition blower. That thing looks pretty clean, guess it just shows how cheap that part really was. Great job.
@@michaelotoole1807 Yes, just poorly made! I am still using my original friction disk on my 1969 Ariens 24" wide 10000 series. I only use it about 4 to 8 times per winter season but when I replace it I will keep the old one as a backup!
Briggs and Stratton has dropped the ball with parts availability in last 3 years since bankruptcy and buyout. Fortunately for customers that go to a great shop such as Don's, they have a resourceful mechanic who doesn't give up easily.
@@donyboy73 And the Toro part? Or is that very old American made stock? Either way I'd rather shovel than struggle with a new Briggs. Luckily I have my grandfather's Simplicity (and his Gravely too! 😄)

The difference between a mechanic and a parts changer. Good job.

Thanks buddy!
Once again you are doing a great job on fixing the problems that you face when they crop up
For those without a lathe, screw the disk to a sacrificial board and use a hole saw of the appropriate diameter to cut the hole larger.
Great solution! Nice to see a shop that will fix a problem instead of only wanting to replace OEM parts.
Yes indeed!
Similar to a welder, I can see how handy a lathe can be to have for repairs and custom made parts. Nice repair, Dony.
Your customers are fortunate to have you in the community.
As one, I totally agree!
@@Steve-qg1mo Hey Steve!

Perfect is the enemy of Done! Great Hack Dony. You saved a great looking machine. I put a line of red nail polish on all my 10mm sockets.

Great point!
Thanks Dony another good

Why would it be "sloppy on the hub", if there are 3 bolts holding it down?
Love when you hear a crunchy sound when you put the bearing in. 7:24
I think he is referring to the fact that the hub centers the wheel while the bolts just hold it there. Many, but not all, cars are like that also.
