Just got my 2020 Ice Fluo last week. My first bike and I'm loving it. I get all the looks and I haven't seen this bike around, all CBRs and Gixxers
Man I'm with ya I recently got my first street bike an RC51. Rode dirt bikes for many years but now I'm on the road.
A really good advice i got from a friend. Don't cheap out on things that could save your life. That steering damper might be one of those things✌

Hoping to buy a 2017 MT09 soon. And some things are definetely going to be replaced. The rear fender and turn signals are quite high up on the list. And the items you have are really sleek! Definetely looking into those, thanks!

OES has frame sliders with a little cut out so you don’t have to trim that little fairing if you wanna check them out. I got them for that specific reason for mine! Good looking bike man!
Dude, that steering damper is gas! $70 for added comfort and safety - very smart choice. The bike looks really sweet, my dude. Ride safe out there.

Gb racing engine covers, and maybe frame sliders! Saved me a lot ;) And it make the bikes looks cooler! I envy the newer color! good looking bike!

Top three modifications: Yamaha comfort seat which is an absolute must on the 09, the MRA windscreen and the exhaust. The MRA windscreens are phenomenal. Nothing beats the comfort seat though… Lol. Night and day difference between that and the stock seat.

To save cutting your radiator cowling, get R&G crash bung 👍🏼 , fits excellent around it
Sw motech also requires no cutting to intall.

They will fit but you will have to kinda make your own adapters. Because they clip on to the bar end inserts you will need to use a piece of pipe as a spacer....something just big enough to fit over the threads of the bar end inserts and cut it just wide enough so when you tighten down the bar ends the mirrors don't jam up again the grip/throttle. I found a small section of pipe at home dept for like 50 cents and just cut it to fit.

Hey Jaye, which bar ends are you using with these mirrors? I got some round ones for my XSR 900. I tried using the stock bar ends with a shim so I can snug them up but they still droop down after a while.
Maybe trim of the axle slider rather than the bike plastics to fit it? Anyway, really nice bike you got. Did you ride with the Akrapovic installed without the powercommander? If you did, did you notice any difference with/without PC?
I ended up installing the sliders a couple weeks ago and trimmed the plastic, it ended up coming out really well. I installed the power commander and the exhaust at the same time so didn't get a chance to see how it rode without the PC. But there is def a big difference after the exhuast+PC as far as power/pep.
I got a Sargent seat, then a Corbin seat, no break in comfort from day one and keeps getting better with every ride,
You can trim the slider so you don't have to trim the fairing.. Some companies actually sell notched frame sliders for other bikes that I've installed, theyre usually marked "no trim sliders".
yeah I had seen some of those. I did end up trimming the fairings though to the contour of the sliders and touched up the edges with factory paint, looks clean...as long as the sliders stay on, lol.

i got a question for your r3, do you also think that the brakes of the r3 not that good?
@@silentshift444 The stock brakes on the r3 definitely are not the best. I know some people say that upgrading the brake lines to steel braided and installing better brake pads will dramatically increase the feel/performance of the brakes...Which is an upgraded I might possibly do in the future for the r3

Dude I have the exact same windscreen, exact same front turn signals down to halo color and exact same integrated tail light. I feel like we would be friends if we met lol.
I recommend a radiator guard. Cheap and you would hate for something to jump up and tag it, Ride over 😘
Good stuff, dude! I'm going back and forth between the low mount and high mount for the license plate on my bike. Any concern with getting pulled over having the low mount?
I do get worried sometimes about being pulled over because of it, but haven't experienced that yet (**knock on wood). There have also been multiple times where I have been at a stop light with a cop behind me, or I've driven past them and no issues. So not extremely worried about it but the chance of it happening are still there.
@@julietechosierra good to know. My thought is that if I get pulled over for it, the kit from TST to switch to a high mount to have the ticket dismissed is fairly cheap.
Hey, I installed the fender eliminator/license plate kit this week. Where did you wire the tst light in for the license plate? I can’t figure it out for anything!
@@jacobbarrios8687 I wired it into the running light wires (black & blue) for the tail light. I can't remember what color the wires are on the factory tail light, but if there is a black & blue wire...test those. Unplug the tail light connector, and test the license plate wires to the prongs on the inside of the connector to see which ones run constant power to the tail light and tap into those. Hope that helped!

I have this exact bike year and color, what was your experience with the power commander vs stock DCU? I’m looking into getting an akrapovic titanium for mine
I installed the exhaust and the power commander at the same time. I haven't had any issues since with the power commander or the ecu, no warning lights etc. the bike runs great.
Hello, I believe you don’t look at the comments anymore. But I’d like to just say something, the shudder you feel is from improper suspension setup, likely minor. As these are amplified at high speed, the steering damper at that price will help with that’s but it’s a band aid fix. It works but I’d recommend just setting up the suspension properly, no offense what so ever. I’ve ran a steering damper on all my motorcycles for bumps and wheelie touchdowns and I know the point of it. But I’d still recommend setting it properly. Best of luck my man, I’m looking into buying this as my 3rd bike
Thanks! I still look at my comments, but I noticed that in the creator studio that it doesn't always show me every comment anymore for some reason. I did end up adjusting the suspension a few months back, but haven't ridden it without the damper since so not sure if that small vibe issue is still there or not. I am going to upgrade the damper here soon though so I'll probably take it out without the damper to see if the vibe is gone.
Jaye Singleton yeah, try taking it off and seeing. If it’s gone or better I would try to adjust. But if it’s still there, i would dish out some money to get a good damper. Best of luck to you, also where are you located? We could go ride sometime
I did the same TST mods you did. How did you wire in the license plate light?
I wired the license plate light into running light wires for the tail light. If you have the TST integrated tail light, the blue and black wires are constant power to the tail light, tap into those.
Have you thought about adding auxiliary lights on the front? Mine sure has poor lighting at night.
I've thought about it, but not sure if I ever will. At night I usually just ride with high beams on because like you said, the low beams suck, haha.😬
@@julietechosierra I ordered the OEM connector and going to buy a generic harness with a relay for 2 lights. Will be plug and play for not much money.

How did you manage to install the mirrors with the bar ends? Do you have a video?
I had to make spacers out of some pipe from the hardware store to make the mirrors work on the handle bar ends. I don't have a video for it though. I'll work on one though because it's a question I've seen a few times. Let you know when it's posted.

Does this bike get hot at all?? Particularly under the butt? I own a 790 Duke and it is a fiery inferno. A lot of engine heat washes over the rider.
Mike Miller I have a 2014 and have never had any problems with excessive heat under my butt or anywhere else for that matter. I do wear proper riding boots without exception which helps guard your ankles from heat.
Everybody say it with me “a-KROP-of-each” not “Akra-POE-vick”. I worked for Lockhart-Phillips 2002-2004 when they were the exclusive distributor in the US, and we had to correct everyone on that. I have the same exhaust on my 2014. Straight music, especially above 7K RPM

no, you would have to go to the dynojet website and download the tune that is closest to your current set up. For example there is a map that is already set for the mt-09 with a full akrapovic exhuast and stock air filter. you would then upload that map to the powercommander.
Mine works fine with no ecu flash.
Why the quick shifter
The seat on the MT09 is ok , the seat on the MT10 is like a freaking board.. I have both and yes there is a significant difference on the feel of the seats.
Yeah the MT09 seat isn't all that bad. But after an hour it makes my legs go numb...might be because my sciatica, haha. I don't have that problem though with the comfort seat.
Sold the Yamaha "comfort" (muhaha) seat within two days and went back to the stock seat.
I like the tailight. Unfortunately it would be illegal here.
Shift cover, forgot to mention that bro. I have bought 2 and neither one fit over my shifter.
Did you get the Ryder Clips rubber shift sock ones? That's what I have on mine. It didn't really fit, I had to really stretch it and work it to get it onto the shifter.

Rip out that Power Commander V and get the ecu flashed. That unit can fail and will, way before your ecu does.
how do you have so much money?... I have a truck and mortgage, and can't really afford more shit.
I have the same bike with about 7k$ into it im telling u rn you're power commander is useless with out a dyno tune and custom map

Hahaha, yeah I know thanks. I’ve been in aviation forever and I make the same mistake when referring to dampers on aircraft too. One of these days I’ll say it right.

In CA you will get tickets all the time with that plate like that, I get away with it because my bike is licensed in a different state CT due to me being in the military. but others that have that get tickets on the regular until they display the plate on a more prominent place. CA sucks.
