I personally wouldn't pick the 475, but it's your bike and too many people have forgotten the phrase, "Ride your own ride". If you enjoy it, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. On top of that, too many people buy cams that don't match their riding style. If the 475 matches your riding style, then you made the best choice no matter what.
Its crazy to me that living in cali and we can't have nice things. Feuling is based in cali, Thrashin is based in cali, Vance and Hines are based in cali and people cant buy their exhaust. INSANE.
Exactly, even speed kings can’t ship their goods to local/Californians. But you can steal up to $900 worth of goods but you can’t modify your bike in California 🤷
I Went with the 468 Zippers torque comes in early and fast high on torque but low on hp , I’d rather have more torque most dynos have it coming in at 132 torque at mid 2000 rpm and 112-113 Hp
Thanks for your videos.. question, I ride just the opposite 80- 9O % freeway.. not much city.. on a bagger… would a 475 or 465 be a better fit.. just cruise 80-85 mph.. just want the get up and go on the freeway… thanks
Just my take here I put a ss475 in my streetbob 114did not like it bike would not smooth out it wanted to sit on 70 k which is 10 ks more than the speed limit here in 🇦🇺 before it smoothed out I was also running a tbr pipe the fuel economy was bad kept on filling the tank up worse than a sportser this 475 did not suit my riding style so I opted for a se torque cam yes people say waste of time but in a light bike It was perfect I was much happier and yes it was dynoed both times 116 hp 127 torque se torque cam gave me 102hp 116 torque
That's a big difference but ridability Trump's all unless you just drag race with that bike. I've ridden poorly tuned bikes and understand what you mean. Not often are we gonna miss ten HP when you're over a hundred already
Nice 👍. I’m trying to get a fuel Moto tune but they won’t send me tune due to my state of California. Gonna have to dish out the extra cash for my 475c tune 🤷
have you tried it vs the 30/30 and what was your exhaust intake and injectors? I am torn on the 30/30 vs the S&S 475 but i could be over looking great cams. I like the 475 for the sound but has a small power band and i like the 30/30 because it has a larger power band but is a bit more $$
Looks better than all the after-market exhaust I've seen and it sounds great. I have Cobra slip-ons on my FXLRS and love them. But I might consider these.
Couldn't agree more! The pipe looks great but the ceramic coating hasn't aged well. Most black pipes don't age well within the year, that's why I'm switching over to a SPC pipe. I've had it for 3 years, I like the sound too.
I agree with you about newer Harley's the sound ain't the same, I switch from vance and Hines short shots, not happy with them so got the tbr 2-1 and same, the sound just isn't right to me, last resort is to add a cam.
I am mega torn on a cam there are SOOOOOO many options.I have a 2023 streetglide ST. I am also torn on exhaust setups also. I cruise around 2-2200rpm and I do ride up to about 4k often and 4.5k+ fairly seldom. After watching this video I may be thinking wrong liking the 475 and 30/30. Maybe I should be looking at more of a torque cam? I was hoping to 30/30 lower end punch would be better then the 475. after seeing videos on 2-1 and 2-2 pipes also it seems like 2-2 would be better for me also as 2-1 have a bit of a low end torque drop at the bottom end?
Without a doubt the S&S 475 sounds the best. But it may not be the cam you want. Tuner, Dyno , Tune, The guy doing the Tune, Octane, slip on's , head pipe, intake and user all have a big impact. Picking the right cam is tricky.
I don't understand just pulling in the clutch when slowing down instead of just down shifting to a stop(gonna have to do it anyway). Is that a normal practice? Seems impractical to jam on the shift lever at zero speed searching for N or 1. Bad habit.
He doesnt need a more aggressive cam if the 475 is to much the star 30/30 has a 485 lift. Its a good cam but hes looking for something smoother at lower rpm. I have a 475 and i love mine but i do ride aggressive.
On a 114 the 475 would be really aggressive, it depends on your riding style, if you ride hard that cam would give you good satisfaction, but if you like cruising and touring and you just want a better sound than the 475 would be the wrong cam, in that case a torque cam would be so much better, even a 465 for example or a SE torque cam.
The newer pumps/cam plates/tensioners are still garbage with the cast housings. Do yourself a favor and dump the HD junk. The S&S kit get rid of the trash.

What riding style is the 475?
@@raymarshalljr.1958mid range awesome cAm
I had a 475 in my 114 Fat Bob.I hated the feel going from idle to just moving.Sounded great but not for me.

For these bikes the Star 30/30 would have been your best bet. The 475 is tried and true but the 117 motor likes the Star better.

I JUST DID A 475 ON MY 2023 SOFTAIL STANDARD LOVE IT SOUNDS GOOD LOTS OF POWER WITH FUEL MOTO TUNE

Fueling reaper 472. I have tried them all. This cam pulls from stop all the way thru 6000. By far the best all around cam for the 117.

You should have gotten a red shift cam 468 good from 2000 to 6000 tork cam tire burner
Zippers 468 best all around, it's smooth, and pull till 6000rpm
i had one its not that good in high rpms and doesnt make hp

The $1500 kit is worth it. takes about 1 day to do and the kit is complete enough.

Does it rumble like old school Harley
I does, it's got great sound and it's about 10 decibels louder
what town are you in?
Why did not you try starracing 30-30? I heard it is better than the 475.

The newer pumps are supposed to be good enough to not need changing
True, good enough is correct. I've mentioned if you own a 2017-2019 M8, you should change it.
