As a bassist I can say that that synth bass sounds a lot fuller than the regular bass at it’s current settings, although I know a lot of other basses and setups that sound way better then the synth for sure

The synth bass is the sound of my childhood. S.O.S Band, Zapp, One Way etc. The sound was so embedded that when I grew up and started making music I unconsciously used those grooves in my compositions.

Both have their spots in music, also depending on what you're playing, like slap bass on keys/synth has only come so far, and also with certain sustains on notes, heck even palm muting as well, the synth can emulate so much, but can be manipulated tone wise way more sure. And bass guitar goes way farther genre wise, you never see a keyboardist replacing anyone in a punk band on bass haha

The bass guitar would sound better (for this song) with less tone, probably flatwound strings, a nice sounding hard compressor, a little bit of envelope filter, (maybe a little bit of a high octave pedal before that) and an active tremollo pedal to do the things the synth can sound like, while keeping the organic expressivity of the string instrument VS midi instrument 😋

These instruments are very different from each-other physically and sound wise. The string bass guitar has a very different sound in every string which gives it the natural imperfection that is expected.
Basically, lik Marin Turner puts it the range of the bass guitar is of four octaves and is all bass without lossing the dynamic, like the bite that comes out in the slap the keyboard cannot compete in anyway.
The sound in the keyboard is the same up to the higher notes which gets loss in the higher notes with a sustain sound that continues with the same intensity even when the player handles the bend wheel. That is only e few of the flaws that the keyboard has. Robert L Gerrard an accomplish guitar and keyboard player also gives it’s opinion.
