I sent an email with links to this week's request. Divinyls ''In My Life'' and ''Only Lonely'' (the version on Desperate album). There is also a very rare picture of the band which should be used. I'll send a reminder email later in the week. I think the two links and that picture should be used. Thanx!
@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering It was a mild hit in Australia in 1975. My brother had their album. I was too into Skyhooks and Sherbet to be bothered with OM Daredevils. But ''Jackie Blue'' did get radio play in Australia for years. Don't hear it anymore though.
@@I_was_a_Countdown_Kid-75-83 Skyhooks .. 🤦♂️.. I’ll always remember them AND. Sunnyboys as the first Australian bands from the 80’s played by The Haniers that I commented on , and if memory serves I thoroughly trashed ( bagged 👀) both of them earning me my first telling off from both yourself and Gillian 😆.. well at least it got us all talking and generated lots of comments for those tracks and I’ve never seen either in here since , have you noticed that ? Maybe I’ve just tuned them out , I’m sure you’d know better tbh 👍🏴
@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering Sorry Jay, but I'm not too clear on who you haven't seen either in here since? The Haniers do occasionally play a suggested Skyhooks track from their list. I don't think the Haniers would take the initiative to check out a Sunnyboys song unless somebody asks for them. Both bands were important to a lot of people in their day. Skyhooks were very Melbourne orientated. They wrote about Melbourne places and social issues with a tongue-in-cheek flair. Parents were frightened by them, teenagers were obsessed with them and Skyhooks didn't do much to alleviate the situation. They had songs about masturbating in the cinema (''Smut"), the 6 o'clock news (''Horror Movie''), the demise of the hippy culture (''Whatever Happened To The Revolution''), Melbourne places (''Carlton'').. All the great things that intelligent young people liked to hear. They also had massive mushrooms that ejaculated packs of Twisties out onto the kids in the audience, and singer Shirley would walk on stage with a large dildo strapped to him. It was a humorous Aussie take on Glam Rock... My dad really had to do his best ''parental guidance'' when he sat with me and watched this interview with Mike Willesee : th-cam.com/video/O4wn_Nx_gwA/w-d-xo.html Sunnyboys were a very different kettle of fish. They were from Sydney and were a powerpop band with a surfing background. Robbo used to surf with the Oxley brothers (Pete and Jeremy), and was quite sensitive about what people had to say about their band. Jeremy Oxley lost his way due to schizophrenia after the band broke up. The band had success on the albums and singles chart, and many of their songs were telling of Jeremy's dark thoughts. I think Australians have a soft spot for The Sunnyboys due to Jeremy's mental condition. About 10 years ago a documentary was made about Jeremy title ''The Sunnyboy'', which gave detail to his wilderness years and the reformation of The Sunnyboys. A woman was watching reruns of Countdown on ''Rage'' when she spotted The Sunnyboys performing. She decided to track Jeremy down and marry him. She's been his caretaker ever since. It was a touching documentary, and I think a lot of people have been protective of Jeremy and the Sunnyboys' legacy ever since. A lot of us Countdown kids loved the Sunnyboys and did whatever we could to get the band played on radio. Gillian and I saw them live at Luna Park (Melbourne) in 1982. It was interesting to know that The Sunnyboys (with the exception of the blonde guitarist) were only a few years older than Gillian and I. Jeremy was still a boy when he was having all that success, and then he had mental breakdowns on stage and all sorts of other awful shit.

Try Robert Plant's song "Heaven Knows" he is from Led Zeppelin, you will love it as well as "Big Log"
