The reason why Godzilla doesn’t have much character is cause modern Toho doesn’t allow Legendary or themselves to give him actual character, because for the current higher ups at Toho believe Godzilla should be treated as a God, full on untouchable, unkillable, etc. they have a full on list of requirements they give legendary & anybody who will use his character, like certain design details, his origin story must involve atomic radiation, he’s not allowed to eat human but he can eat fish (which might be why in minus one at the beginning of the movie Godzilla just bite the humans and through them aside, and the big one being he can’t show emotion, so Adam & the other monsterverse directors have tried to give him emotions but emotions that Toho won’t notice. I mean it’s like they don’t want anybody to let people get emotional connected to Godzilla, which is weird cause in the earlier movies he had tons of personality. I mean if you watch the trailers of GxK & Minus One notice that there’s two cut lines of dialogue that by proxy would’ve given him emotion, in GxK trailer, there’s a line where they say “something coming, something even their AFRAID of” they likely cut that due to that giving Godzilla an emotion of weakness, & in the Minus One trailer the pilot guy at the end of the trailer says “that monster…. Will never forgive us” that was a powerful line & they cut from the trailer, so sadly the lack of character is kinda on Toho on that one, why do you think in Shin Godzilla bro didn’t show a lick of emotion and was a essentially a moving brick wall that shoots lasers & roars, it’s badass, but it’s not a character.
one Godzilla is a character in being the natural protector of earth with him feeling the weight of that balance with each film we see him become more aggressive since he's literally started to become jadded from the never ending battle. That works fine he's a simple character but fine character nonetheless as we see Godzilla think is capable of higher thought and I love the simplicity of Godzilla character in the monsterverse. Funny you mentioned Kong not beating a villian on his own since niether does Godzilla if you want to be technical about it. In 2014 the humans had to distract the mutos similar to skullisland with the humans having to distract the skullcrawler but obviously both still count as both Godzilla and Kong victory. Godzilla also needed help against ghidorah and mechagodzilla. It works since the big theme of the monsterverse is co existence of we help nature and nature helps us back. Two Kong doesn't need any special powers. Part of what makes Kong stand to me is his lack of special abilities and using wit and intelligence to overcome his foes. He stands out in this universe as he's extremely powerful despite his lack of special abilities. Every fight is a struggle for survival due to not being as durable as Godzilla which makes all the more engaging when we see him overcome a for. Also I straight disagree about Skar King. He works as a villain for Kong because he is his mirror opposite as another ape but one that is cruel,power hungry and everything Kong isn't. He also both Godzilla and Kong villian. Kong wants to free his people and Godzilla wants to protect the planet from his reign he has ties for both which makes him both of their villian. Skar king alao stands out to me in this series as a villian since he's not the strongest he uses fear and his intelligence to get what he wants rather then being overly powerful like past villians. So yeah I disagree hard with this.
Also another thing of note I just now noticed when looking at your video but no the movies potray Godzilla and Kong as anti heroes. They deal with problems humanity themselves can't deal with but their mot going to go out of their way to avoid damage. Godzilla is not looked at in a good light in most of the monsterverse with only monarch having a postive view of Godzilla since their fascinated by the titans and know Godzilla and Kong keep worse monsters at bay. In kotm where not cheering because of a lot of people died no where cheering because Godzilla stopped King Ghidorah. Also boston we see is already cleared before the fight with Ghidorah but that's besides the point. Even in the new empire the military tryed and failed to stop Godzilla from getting stronger. Godzilla and Kong are not superheroes that's made perfectly clear throughout mosy of the movies to me at least. Godzilla and Kong are not superheroes their powerful animal gods who care about the planet not the bugs who happen to run around. Kong cares slightly more but it's mostly for humans he knows like Jia.
I would have the sense of size change between the hollow earth and the surface, where the surface shows their scale with low camera angles and slower movements and the hollow earth (maybe for some weird gravity excuse) allows the kaiju to live and fight like normal sized monsters

In GxK there was tons of ground-view shots, when the Kaiju run it feels like a heavily armored super unit of a soldier running, when a Kaiju runs the screen shakes and their stomps echo out like a earthquake, and there are multiple moments throughout GVK and gxk where they emphasize the size difference of the Kaiju and the humans. 12:06 fuck yes 16:20 Nah, they do this pretty well at least on Godzilla’s side. They put it as like “yeah he destroys and kills a lot of stuff but without him we’d get cooked even more and there’s not much we could do about it anyways”.
In that case yeah definitely but I’m not gonna pretend they haven’t also made some truly terrible Godzilla films. I think the Monsterverse does it pretty decent but there’s a lot of easily fixable issues throughout that bring down the whole experience.
