  • Building a garden tractor pulling sled from the scrap pile for the grand kids to play with. I might play a little too. It's not built for competing just for fun. Tried to keep it simple and inexpensive using stuff I already had.

Awesome video sir! Looking to build one of these for my kids and some friends children to start getting into garden tractor pulling. My kiddos are 6 and 4, I pull diesel trucks and their grandaddy is a local (legendary) hot farm puller, and they are our biggest little fans! Thanks for the inspiration!

That sled looks great. It looks like the cool grandfather award is in your hands. Thanks for sharing the project!

Looks sweet. I would add a cable through the springs to contain them if they break.

You could put some bars along the bottom of the friction plate to make it so that it can stop the tractor

Been thinking about making one using a car rear diff and just have the pinion facing upright with a drum attatched to that with a cable ran up to the front of the sled then back down to the bucket. Only thing would be getting the ratio right and some way of free spooling the drum so you can move it around without the drum moving

    Hello Mr. Crawford.
    Love your sled.
I was wondering if you know the angle of the rails?
    How long are the rails?
Would tire size effect the speed ?
    Thanks for sharing.
    Regards

I build my projects with what I have on hand so there isn't any formula for size or angle. Yes tire size would change the pump speed and thereby change the speed the box moves. Mine tires are from a lawn tractor because that is what I had on hand. The rails are about 8ft and around 8 degree angle. Thanks for watching.

Can you use a rear-end out of a lawnmower

I guess. It would be very small and light duty.

How many feet does it take for the weight box to get to the front of the pull sled ?

It's not here right now but I will be using it this week end at our local engine show so I will try to measure it for you.
