yes, it was only a few photos though and they weren't in random spots they all popped up at the bottom of my Recents as if i had just taken them.
Yes. I had probably 15 photos resurface. All of my photos are backed up to iCloud. Photos are G Rated.

So what this Bug tells me is that deleted photos are not entirely deleted because if they were the photos couldn't appear again.. This is scary in my opinion.
Exactly, this should be making headlines on national news. This totally destroys the trust Apple has gained from the public.
They are not deleted. Not only in iphones but it is the modern day technology. The deleted files don’t go anywhere but rather the operating system tags them as deleted and treats the space those deleted files were occupying as free.
this is how storage works.
You can always restore your deleted files on your pc for example
A deleted file just goes to a folder you can’t access and waits to be overwritten with new data.

To me that "crushing" moment seemed more like a bizarre way to convey, that iPad is all those things compressed into one powerful device.
GPT-4o is insane! Can you imagine if Siri got functionality even close to what it can do? 🔥
I tried it out and it's wild. I really hope other companies can match the speed and accuracy of it.

The bug is EXTREMELY concerning because that means Apple is keeping these photos and their records on a server somewhere, unbeknownst to the rest of us despite their claims of 'safety and privacy'. They most likely will be sued for this, it's a major, HUGE problem.

That bug is disturbing. Deleted should be deleted from everywhere.
Idk if it affected me. I need to check. But I’m more curious as to whether it affected people with used iPhones and getting photos from the previous owner/s. Especially since it affects folks without iCloud.
It’s all on-device regardless, so it’s unlikely to be anything related to iCloud/storing photos on a server after deletion.
Hi Brandon! So have you heard with the update that the iPhones are not charging at all? Any word on this? We are having that issue after the update.
Nice video but I will say that I visited the Apple Store to compare the two new iPad Pro model screens and the nano version is really nice to look at but when viewing text there is a noticeable difference in sharpness compared to the regular screen and I also use mine for ebook reading so that’s why I went with the regular screen version and it looks overall sharper in general.
At this point, I have not had an occurrence of this particular bug, and just to be sure I did go through my photos as far as I could possibly go and my deleted and hidden items folders. Looking forward to the new iOS 18 features. Thank you for continuing to be a main source of news concerning iOS and iPhone/iPad. I’ve gone back further into your channel to see other videos from quite a while back and have learned some very cool things.
A while back you did a video about a shortcut called “S-GPT”. Mine doesn’t work anymore. It is giving me an error message. Is a shortcut like that even necessary anymore?

How does the nano texture compare to the paper like 2.0? Curious to know if a third party accessory can possibly save you some money. I’m a 11 inch user and don’t think I’ll ever do the 13 with that much space. Thanks

Battery life was initially terrible on installation of 17.5 on iPhone 15pro max. Has improved slightly but not great., compared to previous software, although certain apps seem to be draining battery more since 17.5 (instagram and TH-cam).
I'm not entirely sure about insta, but yt has always been a battery heavy app (but yeah it seems like it's been more so recently compared to last year)
Seems to be the same here as before if not better even with IG which has always been a battery drainer.
Battery life will be worse as soon as Apple brings their AI to iPhone, I bet on it.

You don’t need to unzip the files first. In fact emulators seem to prefer things be zipped. RetroArch works great on the Apple TV though I did have to remap a button on a controller to be able to get out of games and back to Retroarch.
Thanks for not switching over to portrait mode. I have a big TV and an apple box. The portraits only show up on 1/3 of my screen. I bought the screen because my eyes aren’t good enough to watch normal TV; on the tiny screen on an iPhone.. 🐬

How are Apple going to keep the promise of privacy use using Open AI?
There is no such thing of true privacy. Look at what he was saying about some old deleted photos from years ago resurfacing. The only way to have true privacy is to stay off grid.
Well the reporting suggests some stuff will be done locally on the phone with Apples models.
Then for some features it will use an outside providers model. If that’s just for making complex queries of, say, GPT4o then they could find a way to anonymise those queries.
Plus the old photos popping back up. Apple keeping the old photos for many years?

I had extreme battery drainage on 17.4 and that is fixed so if it is worse than before 17.4 it is still a win for me
Hey! One photo reappeared on my phone. Nothing NSFW thankfully and its from 10th of November 2021... I'm on the 14 Pro right now so it's probably from my old recovery file?
even i had the same issue on my 15 pro max after updating to 17.5. Few of the old photos captured in raw format appeared on my photos at the top as recent.
Personally glad for this bug because my photos weren’t backing up for a couple weeks and I could not find some Timelapse videos I shot. This is one time I’m grateful for a bug like this

Hmm my AirPod max been bugging out since this update
This morning I woke to find my iPhone 13 (I know not the newest) display zoomed in which made using it impossible as it wasn’t scrolling to the edges. The phone had to be restarted to regain ‘normal’ screen size and operability. This hadn’t happened before updating to 17.5.
Are we going to have to pay for chat gpt if it’s in iOS 18?

old deleted photo restoration and creation of duplicate has been a big concern throughout ios 17, got highlighted in 17.5 any how. but a new bug of 17.5 which no one is talking about is live activities on dynmic island. pleanty of apps (mostly 3 rd party, which were working fine earlier) stopped appearing live activities in dynamic island post 17.5.
Ive been having issues with 17.5 on my 14 Pro Max like Battery Drain and Studder issues and Connectifity issues i might downgrade to 17.4.1 til 17.5.1 comes out

My battery life has decreased a lot since I installed the latest versions both on my iPhone 11 Pro and my Apple Watch Series 5. I sleep with my watch and even though it’s in sleep mode, it warns me in the morning that the battery is almost empty. My iPhone battery health is 88%, still it also drops rapidly, but it is worse on the watch.
Since installing 17.5, I’m having problems with battery drainage and my battery health has dropped also. 😡

Also noticed that voicemails won’t appear in your phone but will appear in the notifications. It’s the only way to listen and delete the voicemails.
I stopped using iCloud for photos for reasons like this. Internet Rule #1, If you put it online it can become public. It is much easier for me to just airplay directly to my mac when I get home which forces me to make a choice to delete photos I do not want and to only copy those I want to my computer. Has saved me so much memory on both my phone and mac. When selling storage devices always run a full wipe and write over process, takes longer, but it is the only way to make sure your not leaving your content on your erased devices.

I noticed now, that if I delete a voicemail, the phone app stays on the voicemail screen and won't show you your now "deleted" voicemails until you close and re launch the app.
Omgg this is true. My iphobe is backed up with with google photos and not icloud. Photos stays on my device for a month then it gets deleted. I was checking my phone today and i wondered why the photos i took last february on my birthday came back on my phone
I love the airtag stories. I do a lot of driving for work with my personal vehicle so I put one in my car about a month ago. Nothing to be worried about and hopefully (crossing fingers) that I don’t end up being part of one of those crazy stories. I am fully prepared just in case though 😂

There are over 1500 photos that are now back on my phone I have 2TB of iCloud storage and use it. I know for a fact that these photos were deleted as they are work photos to which I always delete right after uploading them to my PC.
Hope they also use the eye tracking to lock in screen orientation especially when you’re lying.
I doubt that. This will just be to control what’s on the screen. So you could maybe enable/disable orientation lock with your eyes
Battery life on WatchOS 10.5 for the SE is significantly worse. To make it through a full day I have to run low power mode all day where before the update I rarely ever turned on watch low power mode.

After updating to iOS 17.5 my 15 pro max battery usage has gotten a bit worse over this week . On the first day the batt life was not that great but on the second day it was good but after that day, my battery life got weaker day by day lol 😂.

I have seen any clarification if these were photos that were totally deleted (also permanently deleted from deleted folder) or just temporarily deleted, but still in deleted folder. If these were permanently deleted photos this is a huge problem.

Battery life is worse after 17.5 on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. If I leave it off of the charger overnight it now drains at least 10%.

Apple needs to release iOS 17, that 5.1 as soon as possible because I am at experiencing a bug that is bringing back all my old photos that I recently taken. It is starting to concern me now.
Apple will most likely release iOS 17.5.1 to the public today to patch the photo bug and security vulnerabilities

iOS 17.5 broke my iPhone SE 2020😓 The phone doesn't charge past 98% now
I had it happen, not sure if it was my iPhone 15, iPhone 13 Pro Max or iPad mini 6th generation. I updated all three at the same time and left them on their chargers. Few hours later I’m doing things on my 2021 m1 iMac and I’m texting a friend, I opened up photos (I use iCloud Photos) to send a meme and there’s probably 30 or so pictures that I had deleted (some spicy 🥵) others of my pets and a a few vacation, all of these that had returned where in the recent tab in photos on Mac. The week prior I had cleaned out my photos and deleted about 13k. (Yes. I actually had that much) and about 30 of them came back. All from 2023/2024. At the time I had assumed it was a fluke and thought nothing of it so I deleted them again and haven’t had any thing reappear.

Randomly get TERRIBLE display responses, makes me restart my 14 PM, clean it and it’s back to fine but it makes me feel it’s a hardware issue when I know it’s not because it doesn’t happen 24/7… it’s very random and I hope Apple Keeps Being a King but they need to check themselves at the door before expecting us all in the Garden

What happened to me yesterday just days after I updated to 17.5 is that all of my photos were suddenly duplicated. But in the iPhone storage setting, the size of photos remained the same (62GBs), so they weren’t duplicated in the first place?! Whereas, iCloud sent me a message that there is no space for the photos in iCloud Photos, saying that my photos take up 111 GBs. What the heck? Then I went into the “Duplicates” tab and I merged like 9900 photos. Can you guess what happened? Yeah, it messed up the whole order of photos in the “Recents album”. By merging the duplicates, it deleted some from the original and some from the duplicates. The strangest thing is this did not happen to the photos that I have taken with this phone since I bought it (15 Pro Max). Only to the photos taken on previous phones. Luckily, I have had all the photos backed up on my Windows computer, so I can put them back onto the phone in order with CopyTrans. What the hell did Apple do to our photos?
I also had 4 photos from 2022 appear at the end of my Photo Recent Album immediately after the 17.5 upgrade.
Anything in common with those 4 photos or just random? And did they show up on any other device?
@@BrandonButch They only showed up on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Not on iPad, MacBook or spare iPhone. All updated with latest iOS. The 4 were from the same event, same day in 2022.

@@BrandonButch True. However they were taken on my 13 Pro Max. Somehow carried across to my 14 Pro Max, turning up on this iPhone, 15 Pro Max. Scary 🫣 in a way.
This update brought out 2 problems, that scary ass bug and the battery depletion being way too quick.

my main issue is battery for my watch se 1 nike edition is the main issue for me battery life is 82% but it would a charge the entire day my phone xs max 77% battery life would still hold on for the most part but i would charge it at least once while at work

After update to iOS 17.5 battery health dropped to 99% on my iPhone 15 Pro, having only 47 charging cycles, besides that the battery runs out very quickly, after not even an hour of light use i lost 15% battery. I use optimized charging with a limit of charge up to 80% and never let it drop below 30%. I have other friends with 167 charge cycles and the battery health is still at 100%, these updates are getting worse
