    This Alaska Trip/Series is by far the best content you've filmed on your channel! The scenary, weather, different fish species & great charter captains def set this trip way ahead of the rest & regular Florida fishing you and Brooke do.

    Love the videos. Keep them coming. FYI those “Hook” noses are called a Kype. Only the Males get big Kypes. They do not use the Kype to grip onto each other for Spawning. They use them fighting and intimidating other males. The fish you were holding when you talked about the “hook” nose was a female which do not develop Kypes.

    • @jamesscott933
      @jamesscott933 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not to be a told you so, but coho females can have them also. I've personally caught a number that i thought would be a male and discovered skeins of eggs inside. Generally it only seems to happen with larger wild fish

    Not to beat a dead horse but correction on why salmon have kype/hook nose is not for gripping each other but for dominance/fighting for position to fertilize eggs when the female drops them. Also intimidation. Bigger male means bigger kype and more dominance also those “spoons” are actually called plugs. Not from Alaska myself but from Washington which also has salmon fisheries throughout the entire state and I got to say this video hit home. You guys are awesome!! Keep it up!

    I spent a week in Soldotna and went fishing every day. The best catch I got was a 38 and 44 lbs. King Salmon. By the time I came home I had 250 lbs. of fish. It was coslty to ship back to Mass. but extremely worth it.

    You and Brook ever think about coming to the Northwoods of Wisconsin to chase the elusive Muskellunge? Often called a Musky or Muskie, these voracious ambush predators can be finicky and tough to goad into biting lures. This reputation has garnered them the reputation of "The Fish of 10,000 Casts." They often will follow lures to the boat without ever committing to a strike. However! In the fall these awesome predators become much easier to catch and the use of live suckers increases those odds even more... My personal best is a 45" fish, but I netted a 51 1/2 incher for my uncle in Canada, a true beast! If you ever want to come try a new experience, let me know! Unfortunately, they don't make great table fare, as most places require a 40+ inch fish to be kept, and by the time they get that big, they are a very tough fish, as they are a slow growing, cold water fish. However, while Musky fishing, you will invariably catch some of their smaller cousins, the Northern Pike, which are tricky to fillet due to their "Y" bones, but they make excellent table fare!

    Aloha, have really enjoyed this series. Makes me nostalgic. Though I’m surprised you didn’t keep the skin on. Been watching you forever, you like assertive fish and flavors.

    • @duckwacker8720
      @duckwacker8720 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The skin doesn't help. If you're putting it on the BBQ then it's fine for some. I skin all mine unless I'm smoking it.

    • @DiabetoDan
      @DiabetoDan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@duckwacker8720 the skin is real nice if you try to get it crispy. The scales are small enough that they don't taste bad when cooked, definitely try cooking some salmon skin side down in the pan or grill! Good crispy salmon skin is absolutely incredible

    • @kalleleikos5260
      @kalleleikos5260 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually you can keep the skin on even if you don't eat the skin because the fish peals right off the skin when cooked. then you also get all the good tasty fat on the skin

    Wow...great content and superb quality! I may have mentioned this earlier, but we got to do go to the Taku Lodge via a seaplane adventure with some knarly glacier visits during an alaskan cruise, and the fresh salmon dinner was to die for. I'm like Brook, not a big salmon fan, but the fresh, just caught that day experience is one everyone should have.

Brook was supposed to send frozen shrimp last year. Well I asked and she said fresh or frozen. I am addicted. Years ago, 20 straight, I vacationed in Puerta Villarta.
