This goes to show you right here there is a huge difference in the way Amish raise their children and the regular American way When you take kids away from the video games and out in front of the TV and teach them skills without scolding, yelling cussing, screaming, and inspiring them instead. This is what you get. No matter what they’re doing. These kids are so skilled talented, creative and educated. It is unreal. This truly makes you want to step back and look at where we have all gone wrong. The Amish, I’ve got this right for real backing away from government influence over education over medical choices over life in general, and live under God’s rules look at the outcome. As always these boys never cease to amaze me. These memories will be talked about a lifetime. Most boys this age are not taught about survival and hunting these days. Not only are they working towards being wonderful craftsman but they seem to be loving the adventure living in Alaska. Good job mom and dad for allowing and trusting them to do these things. As teenagers, myself and my buddies did a lot of that. It was so much fun. It helped build our characters, and we learned a lot of skills and survival in those conditions. Awesome adventure and video, guys. I like the editing and music. It was fun. Can you find out the history on the plane crash and share it with us? That would make a great gallows up video. I am impressed. It is so nice to see wholesome young men who are wholesomly brought up by wonderful parents. I am proud of you, too. In Makkovik, Labrador, I was an outpost nurse for 500 people in remote, isolated community. One of their traditions is Christmas Eve is celebrated more than Christmas Day, and everyone in the community makes sure everyone have a Ptarmigan for the supper meal, or the feast meal. They put a bread and onion stuffing with herb and serve it with salt beef boiled in pot of root veggies, cabbage, carrots, turnip, split yellow peas in a cotton bag tied off and add to the pot to boil for 2 hours and you have Pease pudding. Some of the liquor in the pot was used to make a gray. The salt beef or cured beef is in a brine, so it has to be either soaked overnight and rinsed before boiling the next day, or you can do a boil for 1 hour then rinse and test and if good you start to prepare the meals.You have to watch it close now and then. Sorry for digressing. I just felt like sharing. I wish you many more blessings. ❤

I never get tired of seeing all the adventures you boys go on. Your parents have done wonderful jobs of not only teaching you hunting and safety, but you know how to build the right type of shelter that will provide protection from the elements, provide proper ventilation for the fire, but you also know how to provide and prepare food for yourselves while all the while respecting and appreciating your surroundings and all that BEAUTY that God has provided us. As years go by, your children will watch this and be so amazed and even more proud of all that their father has done, accomplished, and know that he truly loves the outdoors and being in God's country!

I'm so proud of these young men! Every time they said how nice it was though, all I thought was I can't imagine being out in that cold and thinking it was a good time! But what a wonderful adventure for these young men and I'm so happy for them and so proud of their parents for teaching them the skills so they could do this at such an early age!

I get chills just thinking about their adventures and what is to come in the future and what youngsters can absorb and the adventures they are exposed to in their younger years. Here is future snow cave tip: if your bed platforms are higher then the top of the doorway it will create a pocket of warmer air where you are sleeping. Just be sure to poke a hole in from the top for ventilation otherwise there can be condensation and dripping. You can research more details. I envy your youthful adventures!

This looked so fun. Something my boys and their cousins would have done if it would have snowed enough. They loved going out and challenging themselves - if they could survive on (fish if they caught), pine needle tea, trapping rabbits with wire, etc. The best kind of fun for kids and a wonderful “back yard” so to speak for a back yard wilderness of fun. What a FANCY snow cave with storage and all. They ingenious❣️

When i was about 18 i did this in Dec in New Hampshire. Made a dug out in the snow and it was amazingly warm... Great memories. I was with my dog only and she love it too. lol
