For those who wonder he used to work as an architect before becoming a full time musician. So no surprise that he was able to put that studio together. He’s definitely a smart guy and he’s pretty cool.

You dont build such studio from a morning job neither with his mediocre dj skills. He prolly was already coming from somewhere privilleged. But i have much respect for someone who can pull such a lifehack and live on it.

@@karlzimmer4860 define dirt poor cause here we barely make 70 euros per play..we all work hard bro i barely sleep and i guess so as you.i have the same gear last 11 yrs... some get luckier thats all. Dont get me wrong i love the dude he made a cult of abstract techno followers, very few have achieved that. But still you dont build a studio like that with hard work neither with bank loans. And as much i love him for his spirit i find his dj skills average at best. And i repeat.i love the dude. So allow me to agree we disagree in few things.

This bus style of production is amazing. Each “corner” has its own purpose: drum sampler direct to drum buss at the main desk, synths to their own respective channels with their own KRKs to help make the production exciting but keep harmonics tamed for the eventual mix down, all the effects collected for modular routing, and finally, different buss effects for group or master printing. I love this.

Why is it these days that if someone wins the lottery they are deemed a hero, yet if someone decides to spend every penny of their hard-earned cash on something they truly love, and does well for themselves they attract so much hate? It takes years of obsessive dedication to build such a studio, not just money. Like the man said “Reading manuals in bed” and obsessing over ergonomics, wiring and striving to find that perfect set up to create your own art... whatever you choose that to be. I say go for it mate... Killer studio and a unique sound. Beautifully done. (And thanks as always Telekom EB - LOVE Tech Talk).

Indeed, well said. Most likely extreme jealousy. I can and will admit that I am somewhat envious of almost every piece of hardware he owns, but two prominent bits of kit stand out for me. First, the TR-909, I love a good solid drum machine with a solid sequencer and second, that Juno 6 on the shelf there. I used to sit for ages at college farting around with the only decent piece of kit they had at the time to me and that was a Juno 6. I'd run it through a bass amp and play around with sound shaping, tweaking the filter and abusing the arpeggiator. I would love to play that old beast again and ideally would love one at home, but that is a pipe dream for now. I have only the fondest of memories for that old thing.

the only things that change with success are the growing budgets for your next production and the amount of work and requests that come in.
      (a) affords you a better sound engineer (or the fine one you got a properly equipped studio or more time there) - and (b) you get to work together all the time.. so the sound engineer ain't just a hired hand that works for you anymore. you work together.

It looks like another expensive piece in that studio. It's most likely a Herman Miller, maybe model "Aeron". These are amazing btw.
