Luke Slater, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin all managed to explore that minimal and hypnotic rough side of techno, while still keeping it elegant and intellectual. Truly, music for the heart, mind and body
I was at the Stoor event where Luke Slater took the time to sign a few records for a fan during the show. What can i say he is the Gentleman of Techno❤
Now I know how Rip The Cut was created. I close my eyes and every time I can't believe how much is happening there. Every time I listen to this song I discover something different in it.
Caught his live show at a recent Terminal V, of course the younger heads had no idea who he was so it wasn't busy. Would love to see his show again in a club environment in Edinburgh which is where this sounds belongs
I’m from Glasgow and it’s such a shame when some of the legends come through here or Edinburgh. A lot of people my ages and below (I’m 25) just don’t appreciate or want to dig into the older stuff
Clubbing days are a rarity now as priorities have changed but don't feel I'm missing too much tbh. Bookings in Glasgow are largely pish and sad to see this ultra-high BPM fad taking a real grip of the scene which has been known for it's authenticity in terms of electronic music. A bit "old man yells at cloud" admittedly and there is quality definitely still out there but it's a bit depressing. However everything is cyclical and it will change again. Enjoy your remaining mwi years my man! Treasure them.
@@liammcbain1im 25 aswell and in from the night is my fav track who like the genre for real understand pas i booked 25 may in berlin since hes playing berghain lets hope
I love the way he pronounces digitakt as “digikat” haha - Luke, you are a legend, and you can pronounce it however you want! Makes me wonder if maybe he has dyslexia - my close friend has it, and he has all sorts of these kinds of idiosyncrasies with pronunciation. All power to him if so. Top man.
techno used to be a bunch of cheap gear stacked up on milk crates. Now they are barefoot monitor hardware excess safe havens! 🤣 Love this guys Peacefrog output. Amazing stuff!
30 minutes of luke chatting and jamming?! yes please!

All my ex girlfriends love Luke slater too 🤖🥰😘
I could watch him chat for hours, playing small snippets of glorious music.
The ability to make something so complex seem so simple is what marked Slater out as a maverick and a genius from the start.
He's like the nutty professor of techno
Luke Slater in his deep knowledge of his art and sharing some moments of his legacy. True Lengend 💯 Big hug from Portugal. R.T
That studio and all the high-end kit in it is testemant to Luke’s passion for techno and to just sound amazing. Great little vid, thx
It's so good to be a fly on the wall in Luke Slater's studio, thank-you
Legend! And one can never have too many boxes unless one can't work out where the kick is coming from!
It's amazing that a techno legend doesn't know where the kick is.
That was my favourite part. The man is so techno that kick drums just randomly play from God knows where at all times.
Pure class, real art. Techno as it was back in the day, great to see Luke Slater is still one of the greatest.
just as i'm thinking, i bet the 909 would sound great through that overstayer, he reaches for it. this is why he's the goat
Do more videos with Luke
yes !!!
This is the way
Agreed
Such an interesting guy
I loved his material under '7th plain'.. wish Luke would do more of that...
His WIP groove/909 through the Overstayer - absolute delights.

you gotta love him. such an continous source of inspiration.
Love it
As an older brother I occasionally come across someone who makes me wish I had an older brother (like them 😊

It’s so simple yet 100% not at the same time, love it.
Great description, yes. Only that Kick-Bass-groove on its own is fantastic already. It looks so effortless, but it's decades of experience really.
This channel is killing it
Love that guy. He Remembers me the best hours of my youth techno addiction.
That was so inspiring to watch! Would love to see more of that
"That's the 909 through the Overstayer..." Uff! What a thing!

Oh fuck yes
I wonder when Luke meets someone who has no idea of what he does. Does he tell them he’s a musician or one of the greatest legends in techno history?
I very much doubt he says the latter, lol.

Luke had the first one... it barely fitted through his gate
