    I just bought a 1996 Fleetwood Bounder. It is going into the shop to have all the fluids changed. Then, I will have the engine and transmission checked. Found out that it rolls while in park, even with the emergency brake on. After those are done, I will have the generator and tanks tested to make sure all is in working order. I like the changes you have made. It has brightened the inside so much. Making it look almost new again.

    Love it. I am still driving and restoring my 1990 Fleetwood Limited. I repowered it from EFI 460 & 3 speed to a 5.9l 12 valve Cummins with an Allison 1000 5 speed. Went from 6 mpg to 13 mpg.
    Added solar, 9 outside cameras to help with driving and security, a big screen pop-up tv movie theater recliners, surround sound ect ect.
    There is took much to list since I bought it in 1997.
    Love these old restored rigs.

    Finally found a video of a Rv like we have acquired - great job and it gives me hope that my 94 Fleetwood Southwind can be renovated - I’m wondering about some of the derails such as did the inside wall surface have to be redone ? Such as the wall board? I have some damage but not sure how to fix the actual wall board? What about the mechanical systems such as plumbing? Electrical ? U mentioned about the tank monitors for example as well. What about the leveling jack system ?

    • @OutdoorsPodcast

      Anthony, we found some white plastic type material at Lowe’s that worked well for our wall covering. Our plumbing was in good shape and so was the electrical. Nothing major to address. We didn’t have jacks so no worries there either

    I had a 91 Bounder on the Chevy p30 chassis, it was a nightmare to drive with wind and passing trucks. Also, the gvw was not much more than the empty weight and could be overloaded real easy. Replaced it with a freightliner diesel pusher and that made a world of difference both driving and not even coming close to overloading it.

    Wow what an incredible transformation yes it's a huge undertaking trying to take something that was raw and making it your own..! And finding it very livable. Couldn't help but notice you don't talk at all about your electrical situation other than the Onan generator you have no solar no power other than the generator? So you are pretty much depending on staying with full hookups at RV parks? And I understand what you mean about taking 4 years to build it or more that's about what I've been doing with my 1977 Dodge Mallard class C. We going out on a few journeys but we're going to be fully boondocking. Off-grid and solar powered. Thanks for the great video on sharing your experience wonderful job oh by the way we painted our Lucy as we call her with spray paint she turned out looking pretty good she turns a lot of heads and then they bow and pray and as we pull away.

    • @OutdoorsPodcast
      @OutdoorsPodcast  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually we spend about half of our time out in the woods, on public land. We use VERY little power on a day to day basis. We have a bluetti eb70 solar generator and the matching 200 watt portable solar panel for our phones, laptops and small personal devices. We can comfortably go five or six days in the woods on our house batteries and use the bluetti products to maintain our personal electronics. We try to plug in once a week for a couple of days to charge up, then head back out or down the road.

      It really depends on the scenario, we’ve seen as good as 12-14 on flat roads, no TOAD and tailwinds. We’ve seen as bad at 5-6 mpg when we are towing and into headwinds.
      Luckily we don’t make long jumps all at one time, so we don’t go through that much gas only moving once a week or so and typically only 20-60 minutes down the road.

      Make some content, and then we can debate about the definition of a word. Don’t take things so seriously friend.
