Due Props, I've done 3D Art for years, I'm pretty good I think at composing images, but I am awful at creating new assets, really like what you've done so far, and just loved your character in the security announcement video. That long slow turn, the stunned look on her face. Doing work my friend. Keep at it.

I've actually completed all of the Blender work for all of the ships at this point, which is a big relief. Now I just need to get them set up in the animation studio. If I was just lining them up like in the first video, I could get it done in a few days, but I'm trying to go for something a little more special this time with fancy-pants animations and everything which is going to take more prep-work.

How did the model get messed up like that?
    Is it an import/export issue?

I have no idea. Generally, the scale for everything is perfect, but for about half the ships the hatches for their xs docking bay or landing gear are left open. On a select few, the landing gear might be down (sometimes only the left or right landing leg), and on about half a dozen ships like the Bolo the surface decorative decals are out of wack. I use the official Egosoft file unpacker to unpack the game files, and fan-made tool found on the forums to convert the xml data into blender-readable ship files.
I have no idea why some ships have these weird quirks in their model files and others don't, but it could be that it was the easiest way to solve some sort of alignment issue for Egosoft when importing the models into the game, or maybe it's an issue with one of the export tools. It really just is baffling.
