Between switching in end position and the roof stopping, there is some time and mechanical load on the switches. By making a mechanical stop, you protect your switches. 😀
COLIN....is see 2 clear problems here. Firstly you should have used rubber/nylon washers on top of the Plexy panels to stop any water ingress . Secondly, and most definitely the more serious problem...you have actually made something useful!!!! xD Great work as usual.
Yah, that would have probably been a good idea. Though I don't think he's THAT concerned about water infiltration given that is an outdoor space. He just wants to be able to assemble things outside without getting rained on. Any water leaking through the plexi will be minuscule, and mold isn't really an issue since it's not a complex layered assembly that could trap moisture.
No need, the zinc plated fixings and the black steel will be a rusted mess in no time. You could see the bearings had started to rust before the thing was even fitted. Always use galvanised or stainless steel fixings outside (whichever is most suitable for the materials you're fixing). And use galvanised steel and lots of cold gal paint if you don't like the rusted look and the stains that go with it.

Ok :) You would have to use batteries though I suppose as the power from the solar panel at the time wouldn't be enough, Colin still had to mess about with power adapters from the mains so I suppose this is only a bit extra work.
In Denmark building something like this would be illegal in so many ways. Would require spending a lot of money on getting a certified engineer to OK the dimensions and construction, getting an architect to OK aesthetics taking into account any local area statutes, getting local governments to OK doing it in the first place and then paying them for the permission.
@@prudhviram1457 He has most of the required certifications and can self install I'd bet. The US allows you to self install completely you just need a once-over by someone certified in what you're working on usually plumbers are the best options as well since they are a jack of all trades masters of none usually just enough certs to get their jobs done and sometimes a little more if they want to side-hop on HVAC.
As someone in the UK I can confirm that they is a good chance the council are hounding him for bits like this if he didn't get planning permission. Although I think the bunker did have planning permission because of affiliation with Sky and the fact you can see them co-operating with the developer who was developing the land behind where he lives(see more recent videos where you can see houses behind him; 360 swing for example.)

Mr. Furze, please consider the installation of a subterranean thermal heat exchanger. In England one must excavate probably ten feet plus or minus, but if anyone can do it, it is YOU. Besides, it will save you money when winter comes and if your summers are too long, it will cool your house. All you need to do is plug it into a heat exchanger and viola. THEN and only then consider solar.

The problem with that would likely be that the house would shade it, and British weather. But that would be the cherry on top.

Solar panels don't let light through so it would be dark with the cover on :(
Harry Langton You don't need to cover it all just like a small bit... again it only really needs a bit of power every now and then
Ok :) You would have to use batteries though I suppose as the power from the solar panel at the time wouldn't be enough, Colin still had to mess about with power adapters from the mains so I suppose this is only a bit extra work.
you know when Colin’s is getting serious when he puts on the jacket and start welding!
What an incredible idea and of course execution for this project. Your energy and sense of humour are top shelf! -🇨🇦

Home depot for me: *HOLY*
That roof had literally decades of neglect. Lol
In Denmark building something like this would be illegal in so many ways. Would require spending a lot of money on getting a certified engineer to OK the dimensions and construction, getting an architect to OK aesthetics taking into account any local area statutes, getting local governments to OK doing it in the first place and then paying them for the permission.
many countries wont permit without permission
@@Lemonaitor - I was just about to ask about that! I can only imagine some anorak from the council coming around and spitting his tea everywhere when he sees this monstrosity that wasn't there the week prior.
Probably for the best. This is amazing. But a project from someone intellectually challenged could be dangerous.
I think this might be one of the most reasonable things I've seen this genius make. I think thos may inspire me to make something for my future house in the far future.
Do you ever think his neighbours see him doing things and just think "colin's at it again"
That black bird is going to get a huge girlfriend of he keeps singing that. Awesome observation, Mr Furze.
How the hell is an american bird gonna get out to the UK
Nick Miller good one xD
Was that old roof asbestos?
Jim Fortune yup!
Mostly cemet, but still dangerous not very dangerous but i wouldnt want to be breathing it in
Was wearing his safety tie, so......
Oh yeah yeah
I would love to live in that house!
👦
Nice video Furze! One more towards beting a complete villan!
RIP family set of window cleaning mops
I had a Swifty CNC Plasma cutter. I liked it. Cool to see you running one.
Bloody hell, hes gone and made a green house. Have to get Colin an allotment next.
Give Colin enough materials and time, and he'll construct an airplane that can cook hamburgers. Edit: Yay my first 1k likes comment
Nah, that's a job for Flite Test!
Underwater!
Yes that’s a 1 minute job for him lol
Edit: and the airplane could retract into a smaller airplane for shooting other planes firing at his lol
Hacksmith
Or a missile (complete with silo) that can cook a full homemade turkey dinner.
Did i see Furze with some protective gear?
Is the safety tie not protective then?
Yeah, he was welding. He's crazy, not stupid.
Only just seen this....love the thought and technical skill that went into this
First part of the rocket silo
xyanide0101 next part the colinfurze rocket
Oi Colin.. have you allowed for expansion and contraction of the frame due to the temperature?
Nice job done.
I asked the steel stockist but they said its very minimal over the distance I'm building

Good to know, I just had a picture in my mind of it getting stuck...
And thank you for making my days with depression better.
Slikx666 lolol first change your name from sign of the devil then get a Dirt bike you will never be depressed again
Slikx666 that is a proper concern however it’s rlly wet and cold and not very hot where he lives so I’m not sure that’ll be a problem
its a lean-to type roof not a fucking kilometre bridge lol
10:57 so close to hit the roof
