Thanks. I firmly believe everyone should own a Lego set from the year that they were born! I've got a few years on you, I'm old enough to remember getting my first lego set in 1978!
These old figures look funky, but they have a certain charm about themz it's kind of interesting to imagine that kids use to play with them back in a day and these figures have seen fair share of history since then
Yes, good point. The other thing that I love is that they were from the first ever year of minififgures, 46 years ago, and they are exactly the same as today's. We still get plain torsos, and legs. We still get classic smiley faces. We still get the cap that the policeman is wearing. The hair was stopped in 2012 and the cowboy hat in 2003, but they are still all compatible with minifigs you buy today.
@@MinifigJez Agreed that is awesome that LEGO nailed the design so early so that even old original ones are compatible with new ones, we are living in the right timeline where we can enjoy it!
@@PersonManManManMan Yes, and I have Lego bricks from 1958 that connect to today's bricks. Toys made SIXTY-SIX years apart are still compatible with each other !
They put so much effort to make each minifigure look different! They put different stickers on each minifigure along with different hats/hairs and torsos! Also, I just love the hat the last guy is wearing in the suit!
Yes, they had very limited head gear back then, but different colours and stickers make them look great. - They had no male hair back then either, so he had to wear a hat, and a black cowboy hat just makes him look so cool !
I recognize the cowboy/patron, there is a similar one in Factory 1620 with a thin stripe replacing the two buttons. Accidentally bought this with a bunch of cowboys and paid just over 1 euro! Sticker is OK, and if you look in Bricklink you can see wildly different amounts being asked for this one; yours is apparently rarer and much more expensive.
Sad that you didn't get a cowboy, but wow that you got a very vintage mining!!! You're right they are the same Minifig, just with different stickers. Mine is designated as TWN019S and yours as TWN019S2. You can see them all here: brickset.com/minifigs?query=twn019 Thanks for commenting
@@MinifigJez Not so sad really, the guy had pretty vague pictures and every minifig was the same price - a bit of a gamble. I also got 20 imperial soldiers in the same deal at just over 1 euro each! No complaints :) All the 'cowboys' turned out to be various minifigs with cowboy hats!
@@diatonicdelirium1743 Ah well. as long as you were happy with what you got. I'll continue with my quest to get all the minifies with stickers on their torso, so I will be tracking down TWN109S2 at some point !
I thought I;d seen teh cop before, but it's very similar to another cop with a printed torso from a year or two later on. These ones with stickers on, were around for a REALLY short time, pretty much only 1978, by 1979, they were printing everything.
@MinifigJez The big Ideas book from perhaps a year or two later came with sticker sheets, and I think that included ones for minifig torsos. I'm sure I can remember firemen with sticker torsos, too. At some point I need to sort out (and clean!) my old Lego...

You know jez, not really related to the video but have you ever considered collecting all of the classic ninja colours? The ones with the classic ninja wrap, like the classic ones from the ninja sets (from the 80’s) and some Ninjago minifigures.

@@MinifigJez precisely, specifically the ones with the ninja wrap. So far nine colours exist being red, white, black, grey, blue, pink, purple, green and light blueish grey. still good in condition. amazing
Yes, I couldn't believe how good they were wen ones I've seen before have been very bad condition
The stickers are in a surprising good condition, especially the red one, love the 70's style on the civilian clothing's. Great find and pricing!
